I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Garcon is back at Mount to get his degree.

Blutarsky

Really impressed with the fact that Pierre is interested in finishing his degree, AND that he wants to do it at Mount.  He probably had several options available that would have been less of a hassle (online, correspondence, etc), but came back to Alliance.  He will certainly have some good stories for the underclass about his experience with the Colts....."then there was this time that Peyton said to me...."

What is wrong with the picture accompanying this article:

No worries.  I just didn't know what you meant until the clarification.

KD

There's nothing wrong with the picture at all.  More of that means girls hs bball might take off in popularity.

Hopefully Coy recovers.  The other injured coach, Demelo, played his college ball at Heidelberg so both guys have OAC ties.  Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

And the article about Caserio was cool.  I was thinking the other day that if McDaniels moved on, wouldn't it be cool if Caserio got moved up in some way but didn't think about how Pioli going to KC would have such an impact.  Good for another DIII/OAC guy.

Something I noticed on Foxsports.com this morning:

The NCAA also honored several award winners:

-Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright won the Theodore Roosevelt Award, presented to a former college athlete who went on to make a national impact. Albright competed in swimming, rowing and field hockey at Wellesley.

-Tennis great Billie Jean King was honored with the Gerald R. Ford Award, named after the former president. It recognizes King's leadership and advocacy for intercollegiate athletics.

-Silver Awards, a 25th-years-later honor for athletes who excelled in their chosen professions, went to Steve Young (football), Deitre Collins-Parker (volleyball, basketball), Mark Fusco (ice hockey), Earl "Butch" Graves Jr. (basketball), Darrell Green (football) and Kathryn McMinn (gymnastics.)

-The Inspiration Award was given to Middlebury College skier Kelly Brush, who was paralyzed in a fall during a competition in 2006. She graduated last year and has established the Kelly Brush Foundation, dedicated to improving ski racing safety.

-Top VIII awards, which recognize athletic success, academic accomplishments, community service and leadership, went to: Yael Averbuch (North Carolina, soccer), Kirby Blackley (Findlay, track and field), Dylan Carney (Stanford, gymnastics), Gregory Micheli (Mount Union, football), Kristi Miller (Georgia Tech, tennis), Louie Sakoda (Utah, football), Katy Tafler (Grand Valley State, soccer) and Angela Tincher (Virginia Tech, softball).

As of yesterday, USAToday updated the conditions of Scott Coy and Darren DeMelo.  Coy remains in critical but stable condition and Demelo is still listed in fair condition.  There's no more details that I can find about specific injuries but falling 4 stories onto pavement has to do some serious damage.

Here's to hoping they both continue to recover and that their jobs are not in jeopardy once they're back and healthy.

Greg Micheli hasn't been in class since Monday. Is this football related?

Yep, it appears it relates to the news that JK posted earlier for another award for Micheli:

NCAA Top VIII Award

Another note from the MUC Online Article about the COY award:

QuoteAlso at the convention, Kehres was named first vice president of the AFCA.

I talked to Coach Hesse at lunch yesterday and he told me that some of Scott's worst injuries were to his pelvis and spine.  Apparently they were both broken in several places--shattered was the word he used for the pelvis.  He didn't seem to know the prognosis for any paralysis or not.

I had Scott in class--nice kid.  Could use our thoughts and, if you are so inclined, prayers.

This is absolutely an extremely sad and disturbing story/incident.  I may have missed it in the media reports, however, do you or anyone know what the "wrestling" was about i.e. was this just "in jest" or was it a heated argument/altercation?  Regardless, a tragedy for sure that could have/should have been avoided and now, unfortunately, will have longlasting consequences of several types for both of these young coaches/men.  I wish both of them the best in their recovery and will keep them in prayer.   :(

I hope both of these guys are OK.  Coy was a student coach my first 2 years at MUC and I actually went to high school for a year with the other person involved.  Prayers are with them both.

Also, Green Bay just announced the hiring of Dom Capers as Defensive Coordinator.
