NAIA.

I think if I remeber correctly they will be playing in the same football conference as Malone and Walsh.

I thought I remembered hearing the NAIA was pretty much doomed as an organization??

The last 4 pages of reading makes me really glad I gave up caring about who wins in the NFL a decade + ago.

All I do now is watch it because it's football and there aren't any other options on a Sunday or Monday night.  But I'd much rather watch college or high school ball than pro.  The only rooting interest I have in the NFL is against certain players that I dislike for being arrogant asses like Terrell Owens.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

SaintsFAN:

Some people had thought that with the recent exodus of teams to the NCAA the past few years, however, I don't think so.  There are still many NAIA football schools, especially in the west and south.  Moreover, the NAIA has many schools with basketball.

I agree with hscoach lets talk more D III football. Will Mount Repeat as DIII Champions. They have a good chance.

They have a great chance. The defense will be better (scary). The questions are on offense. Is Rocco capable? Who replaces Kmic? I have heard that Morring is not coming back, and that he is coming back. I would love to see what Morring can do and if not him then Panchik (sp) seems solid. Mount has some holes to fill but let's face it they have done this before. I like their chances to repeat. Something tells me that LK knows a thing or two about building/rebuilding a football team.  ;D

As much as I love the Steeler talk - seriously I have been a Steeler fan since I was 4 - this is the only place in the entire world where DIII is discussed. Take the Steeler talk to a pro-blog somewhere else. However, before you do that, understand this: MOUNT UNION IS THE GREATEST DYNASTY IN COLLEGE SPORTS. The Steelers are "A" good professional team that has won 6 titles in 35 years. Nuff said! Now then, for Pat and all the D3football.com guys: it is time for a banner change!!!! As great as Beaver and that Warhawk team were their run is over! Nate, Cecil and Greg need to be shown some love on the front page banner!!!!

Thanks and have a great offseason.

Sorry I tried to edit my previous post and screwed it up. It now appears that I quoted myself. That's ok though, nothing wrong with quoting a genious! ;D

Mr. Ypsi

desertraider, gonna have to quibble a bit.  Greatest dynasty in college football, without a doubt (they've long surpassed Augie's reign, though so far they still don't have a 'fourpeat').  But even LK must be jealous of the streak put together by Kenyon swimming.  And John Wooden fans might have some qualms as well.

I'm going to defer to hscoach and the boys on talk about who is going to play QB.  From what I saw, Rocco threw a decent ball, but is statue-esque in the pocket... of course, that was warmups for the Semis.

I don't think there's any question LK can win one without a legit QB... Coach em up on a week to week basis.

Given the context of the above quote, I absolutely love the misspelling of "genius".  Awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Cecil Shorts at QB for Mount Union, at least some of the time. He looked good there two years ago. Imagine what a threat he would be running the ball. Besides,we have two proven receivers coming back in Pettruz and Claycomb, and some promising sophomores. I also believe one of last years freshman QBs is going to surface this fall. I do not have inside info, just speculating.

I would like to see MUC use Shorts like Florida uses Jarrod Fason.  Not as much as the main QB, but get Cecil the ball in more creative ways.

This is the first year in a long time when we don't know who the next QB will be.  Looking back you could pretty well tell who the next QB was because whomever it was, they got PT the year before.  It may go all they way back to the Ballard-Borchert "hand off" when we didn't really know in the off season who the next QB would be.

Ballard: 1991-1993
Borchert:  1994-1997
Smeck:  1998-2000
Adamson:  2001-2002
Burghardt: 2002-2003 (shared time with both Adamson and Bruney)
Bruney:  2003-2004
Jorris:  2005-2006
Michelli: 2006-2008

Edit:  Does anyone know who the backup QB to Ballard was?  I seem to remember there was an underclassman who was maybe a Soph. in 1993 who didn't return in 1994, which opened the door for Borchert to be a 4 year starter.

The 1993 playoff roster lists two QBs other than Ballard.  Rob Vettorel, 195, Jr. Avella, Pa. and Paul Kilzer, 180, So. Marion, Oh.  Vettorel was the backup.

Vettorel was the one I was trying to remember.  I think he was a Junior in College, but had Soph. eligibility due to an injury.
