Everyone keeps focusing on WR Terrell Owens' future with the Cowboys. But the more pressing issues surround Colts WR Marvin Harrison. It's no longer a question of if Harrison, 36, will be let go. It has become a question of when. It will happen in the coming days, certainly before the new league year starts a week from Friday, but few are sure exactly when. But make no mistake: It is happening. The Colts no longer can afford to carry Harrison, who is scheduled to have a $13.4 million number for an Indianapolis team that is starving for more salary-cap room to deal with free-agents-to-be such as CB Kelvin Hayden. If the Colts were to release Harrison, his $13.4 million number instantly would come off the books, saving the team $7 million against the cap. Harrison still would count $6.4 million in dead money, but more importantly, there would be the $7 million savings. Plus, the Colts have been bracing for this day, drafting Anthony Gonzalez in the first round and grooming young WRs Roy Hall and Pierre Garcon. The Colts' first-round draft pick in 1996, Harrison will finish his Indianapolis career with 1,102 catches for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns. It was a great career. The last chapter soon will be written.

If not them, let's go to Oregon and smack on those pretenders that are Linfield.

I'd love to see that game.  We lose Hardin-Simmons after this season and only have a one year deal with Occidental so we have an open slot in 2010.

News today about a 6'3" 225 D-line man out of Plant City Fl Durand  stating his intention to attend and play football for Mt Union named Austin Devall. Any backup from our posters from that neighborhood.?

I'm good with Oregon, my cousin lives in Beaverton, so the stay would be free and I'm only teaching one more year so it will be time to spend my kids inheritence (actually their college tuition if the market falls any more). And I'll probably have to take a week off from Walmart

Actually if I'm spending that kind of money, let's schedule Occidental or Pac Lute. ;D

Or if we went to Texas I could shake hands with some of the people who sent me get well cards
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

From the Tampa Tribune:

Austin DeVall

I haven't heard anything else about him.

I like how they still talk about players being "Signed" to DIII schools.

Seventies,

You really don't want to go play PLU.  That part of Tacoma is a dump and PLU's "home" games are 15 miles away from campus in another dump town, Puyallup Wa,  at a community HS field Sparks Stadium.

I know you would rather come out to the heart of Oregon's Wine country and enjoy Willamette Valley.

More news on Pierre... a pretty cool article in last week's Dynamo. It is the Campus Newspaper. I think the author is the Play-by-Play guy for WRMU.

I think seventies meant Cal Lute...

You are right about PLU being in a bad area of Tacoma though.  Every morning for 60 days I had to drive down Pacific Ave to get to the back gate of Ft. Lewis.

I didn't thing Puyallup was a dump though... seemed nice to me.

Well...I can't speak for all of Puyallup but at least where Sparks Stadium is located I would say the area is somewhat run down.  To be truthful, Lewis and Clark in Portland has a beautiful backdrop for football but they are so terrible on the field that most folks can't appreciate it.

In checking out the OAC stadiums on-line it looks like ONU has a very cool football setting.

What I can't figure is why PLU doesn't have an on campus facility.  All in all it's not a bad campus and for being in a metro area, they have a lot of land.  For god's sake, they have a golf course adjacent to their campus.  There are two or three good areas on that campus to build a 3,000 or so seat stadium.

ONU is flat as heck.  unless you like rolling green plains, northwest Ohio would not be considered "pretty."  For sheer "beauty" in a stadium, you can't beat Muskingum in the fall.  I think most OAC'ers would agree with me on that one.  McCongha stadium is older since Cap, ONU, JCU, etc have built new facilities and others upgrade, but the hills in the fall, when the trees change colors... nice.

JK

Here is a link to Musky's media guide.  It's a black and white picture, but it gives you a sense of the stadium and the trees surrounding it:

Here is an image in color from a different angle

Here is a color shot of the picture of the stadium in the media guide:

JK,

PLU hasn't publicly stated this but the Lutes are trying to fundraise to build on that par 3 course you mentioned above.  For what I hear they are "shooting for the moon" in terms of a small college facility but who knows how well that is going to go considering the economy.  However, I wouldn't be surprised in 2-3 years that they break ground on campus.

Ahhh...Muskingum's set up looks very nice indeed.

BTW, Sorry for the PLU stadium thread jack on the OAC board...

Here's one last one for you.  I included the link for the full sized image, since I think this is the best shot showing Musky in the Fall.  Never minded playing there.  A lot of my HS buddies played there and it was nice to catch up with them, plus it was usually a beautiful day in the hills...like this.

And, it's the off season, it's slow.  You don't have to apologize for any discussion on here right now.

I think some of us "old timers" had a discussion on here a few years ago about the best stadium settings in the OAC.  I think our consensus was Musky.

MUC is a nice "old" stadium that has been upgraded really well without losing it's "character."  Of course I'm partial to Bernlohr Staduim at Capital, but there really isn't anything that makes it special except it is 1,000,000 times better than the old facility.  I haven't been to the new stadiums at ONU or JCU, so I can't really comment.  I just don't like NW Ohio because it is so flat.  Heidleberg in Tiffin isn't bad, but it's a HS stadium shared among three teams (Tiffin Columbian HS, Berg, and Tiffin U).  BW has upgraded with new turf, but the stadium is too big to ever fill for a D3 game and so it loses something there.  Marietta recently bought their stadium from the city and supposedly upgraded, but I haven't seen it.  Wilma wasn't in the OAC when I played, so I've never seen their yard.  Otterbein recently upgraded too, but I haven't seen it.  Previously the stadium was pretty bland.

Quality of the surrounding beauty is cancelled out by the play on the grass?

When you attend Cap when JK did, you probably enjoyed looking at the leaves on the trees more than you did looking at the scoreboard.

;)

I think it's unfair to say ONU's out because of the flat land of NW Ohio.  The original poster (as I understood him) was saying that ONU's stadium is a nice facility and a great place to watch a game.  I haven't been to a game at Dial-Roberson but I can say from visiting and touring that it is in a great spot.  And that, I believe, is what the poster was referring to.  It would be great to see if that is correct.

In my opinion, this view in the fall would be every bit as nice as Musky's and this view comes with the added bonus of home victories.

And like Bernlohr it's a million times better than it's predecessor.
