At least they aren't going to run that weird unbalanced set that Molen made his living on when you were at Minerva...

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

reality check

We had 36 at last night's session and 41 at this morning's.  If we keep this pace up, we'll me MUC-like in numbers by mid-July.  Fingers crossed.

I don't think the Phoenix area has to deal with any snow days...

School calendars vary so much.  We had no make-up days either (they build in an allowance for up to three snow days, and we had only 1 or 2), but school still doesn't end 'til the 18th.  (The tourist industry got a bill passed that schools can't begin until after Labor Day.)

Tomorrow is our last day of classes.  We also have the tourist restriction but start the week before Labor Day.  We also have a 185 day school year, which drags things out a bit.  Our district builds in two hurricane days which were just oddly placed days off this year.  Of course years we've missed days due to hurricanes we didn't have to make up the days since they declared states of emergency.

Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin don't count --- they don't shut down at all for snow.  It takes a special storm as I'm sure you can attest to..

True, and you could add New England, the Dakotas, etc.  I was once in Birmingham, Ala., when they got three inches of snow - you'd think the world had ended! ;D

We seldom get snow days because no one lives more than 3/4 of a mile from school. We just had a union voted long Christmas break. Got a couple of "Cold" day this year.  So much for climate change

Three more classroom days for this Coach, which is cool. I was never that great at the teaching part.

Small but Slow

When I taught in Southern OH three inches could close us down.  Almost all our kids were bussed and many of the roads are treacherous even in perfect weather.

Small but Slow

Spring break is also different down here.  It's usually a month after the schools in the north, and most of us travel north to experience some cool climate.

Ypsi that sounds like a typical reaction around most of the South. I've even seen complete freak outs over less, and God forbid there should more. Then again, when you get significant snowfall only every five years or so maybe that's not so surprising.

Oh, I understand the reason (especially with the nearest snowplows being several hundred miles to the north!).  But, c'mon people - enjoy a day off, PLAY in the snow, and get the heck off the roads instead of continually nearly ramming a guy who knows how to drive in the stuff! ;D

Now you know we can't do that ... have to get to the store and buy up all the bread and milk. Seriously though, I have lived in various parts of the South for 49 of my 57 years and I still don't understand that one.
