BTW My best sprinter is on his way to Musky to play LB, and joining one of my other track kids there. At least I can tell you schools like Theil and Musky are hitting the small high schools hard

While on a visit to Muskingum saw a Mogadore lettermen's jacket

Rocco Donatelli, D Back
The two kids I mentioned were both recruits. Did Rocco decide to be a Musky? I am pretty sure the player from Manchester is going to MU.

If they were recruits, then the Moggy kid was Matt Schrader

Hope he has a great career at Muskingum.  :)

You can probably tell from my previous posts that I liked Muskingum. They did not (at least I didn't hear them) say one negative thing about another school. I got the impression they respected the MU program and used it as a model. During visits to or in correspondence from other D3 programs they almost all seemed to give an approximate number of players they want to have in their incoming class each year. The number varied from as low as 30 up to around 70. In the same breath most would normally mention at Mount you would be competing with 125 plus incoming freshman football players. I never have liked negative selling but I never questioned them on the number they claimed for the size of a normal MU freshman class. I was however concerned that the claim of 125 at MU could have an impact on my son's decision making process. While talking with MU they never said what number they set as a goal each year so I asked if the 125 number was accurate. I will not share their exact answer but I will say they gave a very good one. The most impressive part of the MU response to me is what they didn't say. MU did not have one negative comment about other schools using this big number for MU recruits as a recruiting tool.

It's typical for MUC to bring in 120+ in each freshman class.  They do not "bad-mouth" other schools....frankly, they're in a position where they don't need to.  The only comment that our son received was:  "Yes, there will be a lot of players.....the best will play."

Gotta work better than Wittenberg recruiters digging out that tired "King of D3 Football" line. Ah yeah, before they were born ;D

I think what Bump was saying was that other schools will pull out the "MUC brings in 125+ Freshmen and you won't be competing with as many at our school."  Not that MUC talked about how many they were bringing in themselves.   And Bump was impressed that Musky didn't play that card.

I thought that was into the 1980s??  They must have some REALLY young coaches, there.

Reason for the dropoff?

Thats the way I read it too, kirasdad.

Kudos to Musky... probably of the belief that positive thinking will bring about positive change to the program..

Couldn't have said it better myself and apparently I didn't.  :)

I can't edit so I deleted my earlier post. I quoted the wrong post.  :-\

Sorry, if anyone read the posts that I deleted. I was messing around to get to a certain number of posts. I thought there was a certain number of posts to enable the edit button. Wrong again!

Once you have posted, 'modify' IS the 'edit' button.

Don't see it.

It should be in between the "quote" and "delete" buttons on your own posts.

It is not there. I thought I remembered 25 as the magic number. Thanks for the help. I will be cleaning my mess up back to post 5:06 pm. You and Mr. Ypsi may want to do the same. :)

If I recall, I think Pat instituted those limits to protect against 'drive-by trolls'.  Since you are clearly not one of 'them', you could also appeal to him for 'dispensation'.

[I thought it was also at 25 posts that the buttons showed up, but (as you can see) I'd have trouble remembering '25 posts'! :D]
