How tragic.  My thoughts go out to the family.

Now that I have children of my own, I understand.  I can't imagine how they feel...

Raiderpa: Thanks for that "reality check", I just got home from youth football with my 12 year year old and I have no idea where his inhaler is. I got half way into that and turned my head away. I'd be devastated, as I'm sure the family is. "My thoughts and prayers" don't seem like enough when a child dies.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Thoughts and prayers for Mike and his family in their time of sadness.  You just don't know what each day will bring. There is really nothing you can say to comfort someone loosing a child at such a young age.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

As a parent of three, I can't even begin to imagine the heart break.... :'(
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

All this talk of who is number one really makes me happy that DIII decides the issue on the field. What a novel idea  ::).   IMO, UWW probably deserves a pre-season #1 given who the Raiders lost and the depth each team returns but in week 15, its anybody's guess.

Many prayers for Mike and his family.  Our first future Raider is due in a month and a half, and I cannot even begin to imagine what this must be like.

May the soul of Gavin, and the soul's of all the departed, rest in eternal peace.

Transferred from Northern Michigan U.   Found his name on their website.  He won the award for "Outstanding Scout Team Player/Offense" for 2007.  Last year he played in 8 games, but he was only 4-8 for 75 yards as a QB.  Looks like he was 3rd team as a Soph.  He also had 32 Rushing attempts for 92 yards (Net 59).

Nothing too impressive in two years of college.

EDIT:  Found some more info:

Here is the information that NMU posted when he signed his LOI:
Matt Blanchard-QB, 6-3, 195
Lake Zurich HS-Lake Zurich, Ill.
-Led 2006 team to Illinois Class 7A State Championship Game
-All-Conference (North Suburban Conference)
-Daily Herald All-Area Team
-Team Offensive MVP
-Captain
-17-3 as a starter
-Senior Stats-865 yards rushing/1010 passing yards/20 TD's
-Two years of basketball
-Four-year member of track team-triple jump/high jump/low hurdles/100-yd. dash
-Honor Roll Student
-Jr. Marshall for 2006 Graduation Ceremony
-North Suburban Leadership Program Representative for Lake Zurich HS

reality check

Oh good.  I was getting worried that Mount wouldn't have enough QB's in the mix this year.

I hear Jack Elway's available too.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

I would take the Raiders in a matchup with WWW in the first game of the season.  Why?  An absolutely loaded defense. We have six first team all OAC players on D.  I personally think Roger Stuart is playing his position better than any safety in D3. I dont understand the skepticism about Rocco;LK coaches the QBs,and will be there on the sideline talking to the lad. What me worry?

skunks_sidekick

Purple.......I LOVE you man!

But if you watched Rocco at all.......you have skepticism.  I really think that we could have a special season with the kid from Louisville.  If not...things will be good no matter what.

Skunk and I are definitely in for the opening game.  Jr. gets to play in Fawcett Stadium the week before, and is off that weekend.  We will have a presence.

Before we head to Rochester, we will have to coordinate and see who is going, and where we are tailgating.
