I'm sure there thousands of fans out there who agree with this guy.....

WH- Thanks for sharing.

MUC & UWW have enjoyed great success recently.  For the same two teams to go through their conference schedules then each win four playoff games and meet in Salem four straight years is unprecedented.  I wonder if Vegas has odds that it can happen a fifth straight year?

skunks_sidekick

Odds are something like bet 10 to win 2 that those two teams are in the Stagg for the fifth year in a row.  I mean it's football, and on "any given day", but make a compelling argument for any other team to break the two team dance?

Trust me...this is not cockiness.  I am just being realistic.

I would say probably 90% or more of D3 fans agree...

The playoffs have become...for a lack of a better term... boring. It was OK when Mount Union made it to the finals and different teams would challenge them in the final but now I would agree that the odds are the favor of a 5th straight stagg bowl, considering both teams.   Don't get me wrong, the two teams deserve everything they get, I just can agree with whoever this author is.

I think he was saying that 90% agree with this guy that having MUC and UWW in the Stagg every year is not good for DIII FB.  Not that they won't both get back there.  Any given day, but I think I agree that both are primed to make another run to the 15th game.

Laymon Carter is very small (5' 9"), very quick and very talented (about 1700 yards last year). Only saw Hoban once in the last two years but I remember him. Hoban always seems to have a great runner. Had a couple of Sutton kids

Same size as Nate Kmic.

Another article about the Colts' battle for #3 receiver.  This one seems to say that there may not be a definite #3, but rather a couple of different receivers that will come in depending on the situation.

How many people quit going to NFL games during the Dolphins streak? Or because New England was walking away with everything. You could make the same argument in alot of HS football conferences but all the teams still show up. It can't and won't last forever, but it's just waiting for a MHB or someone else to manup and get to the Stagg. A lot of schools like, lets say Wooster, need to up their level of play and stop backing away from a good fight.  If we keep playing SJF, they'll have their day sooner or latrer. Let's hope later. (:>)
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I expect Cap to bounce back this year.  Clearly Assman has to stay healthy but people forget they lost their best player, their best LB and their best DB by week 3 last year, plus numerous other key players.  With everyone back and hopefully healthy, 25 seniors and all the tough teams except the Otters at home I think this will be a great year for Cap.

Mike Tyson Fr. QB 6-5 200 Ashland, Ohio ----Anyone in Northern Oh. know anything about this kid?  Please avoid women beating and ear biting jokes.

Assman has another year of eligibility does anyone know if he is planning on using it?

I wanted you all to know that I'm the one who wrote that piece. I'm glad that, for the most part, you seem to realize that I was not making a personal attack on either school. Apparently, on the E8 boards, I'm arrogant and annoying.

As I pointed out in the piece, I think both MUC and UW-W deserve their success. It was more just a question of general parity seeming to disappear in D-III and wondering, as someone pointed out, if that's a good thing long-term.

I hope no-one on this board was offended by the piece

I thought that was the case, but wasn't sure.  I'll settle for quick and talented then and not very small.

Thanks for the clearing that up for me.  I guess my reading comprehension skills aren't what they used to be (no comments from the RC peanut gallery, please).  I agree with you, kiras.  Both should be considered favorites to hit the Stagg in 2009... unless their two regions face-off in the Semifinals.

for this very reason, I'd love to see Mount Union and Thomas More play a home and home series.  It IS a shorter bus ride to Northern Kentucky and I'd get to see some of you guys for sure at these games.  Maybe we can try after the stadium is done.

I can't speak for anyone but myself... and I'm not attached to either school but I see no need to be offended.  Any D3 publicity is good publicity, in my eyes.  Keep up the good work.

EDIT:  I think someone came up with the tier explanation of D3 and it fits well.

Tier 1 --- MUC and UW-WW
Tier 2 --- teams that could beat Tier 1
Tier 3 --- everyone else in the top 25 and receiving votes

Mount's newest commit, Lashawn Bain out of Arizona.  I believe that Bain played 8-man high school football in high school.  His progression might be interesting to keep an eye on.

Don't take it personal that you're "arrogant and annoying" on the E8 board.....they seem to treat a lot of folks that way.  I still can't understand the "3rd person" references to all of their posts.
