Please note the smiley at the end of my post about the Liberty League.

I saw it. I thought maybe some newbees (whomever they may be) might want the 4-1-1.

Thanks for your vote Coach Hallet

I always wondered about the ones who would rather stay home rather than watch another game where the favorite was expected to win. Especially because the favorite was excelling at what they do. Would you rather listen to kareoke singing than Whitney Houston? What kind of fan would only be interested if the team is somehow vulnerable? Cant you be impressed because the faces change and  somehow the team keeps winning...and improving! Improving over previous championship levels? When the fortunes change and the talent declines, will that draw the jaded masses to the stadium.....to bear witness to the falling of the once mighty? Maybe so, just please dont sit next to me. Our section gets slammed for being too euphoric and celebratory.  We have plenty of cause to do so. I hope we ALWAYS do. Dynasties are not boring.....they are marvels.

Show of hands... who is considering taking Pierre in the late rounds of upcoming fantasy drafts?

In my humble opinion.  the students are to young to really appreciate  the greatness of LK andf Mount Union football.   Did you appreciate fine wine while in college or did you drink Ripple.Mad Dog 20-20,Boones Farm and Iron City beer ?   I was surprised to see the coaches thought Otter  so high and Capital so comparatively low.  What has ONU got that impresses the coaches ?  The Otter defense was non existant against Mount and in the playoff game. I cant see them stopping  the good Cap and BW quarterbacks.

Or mix them all together for a Hairy Buffalo party .

You remembered my college diet. Iron City and a shot = a Rusty Nail. Ah, fine screw top wines of the seventies. We may have gone to the game but  we were back on the fire escape at Miller Hall by halftime

I def. plan on taking Pierre in my drafts in both leagues.

As far as the attendance goes......I absolutely despise OSU. It makes sense people want to watch their early season games because they get spanked in the bowl games by teams who have a playbook developed after 1980.

I also agree with the high school football comments.  High school football around here is ridiculously popular.  Then again, you do have the idiots who make comments about high school teams beating Mount.  Probably have a good chance against the Woo.

There are so many theories and explanations, that I really have no clue why more fans do not go to the games.  I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that there isn't much to do in Minnesota.  Also, a W every weekend isn't a foregone conclusion like it is at MUC and now WWW.

Rscl70 got me thinking about things we have lost during the last 15 years.

I miss the John Carrol/Mount rivalry that started in the London Fletcher days and seemed to end with the deaprture of Tom Arth. Some of the JCU t-shirts from that time were classic, even if they looked a little lame by half time.

I miss the excited fans/parents of opposing schools. Had some good times razing the folks across the aisle who thought they had a chance of winning until the first or second play from scrimmage.

I miss the feel and the appreciation each season that "we may never see another team/game/season like this that I had going to the 1997 Stagg Bowl or driving down to see if Mount could break Oklahoma's consecutive win record.

My wife and friends all say, "What's the point in going?" The point to me is still that excellance in anything is worth the time to appreciate. If nothing else I'm watching a legend to be walk the sidelines

PS I have never been an Ohio State/Big Ten fan so I have no conflict there

I am

Small but Slow

I still enjoy a chilled bottle of M/D with a fine meal of grilled cheese or mac & cheese occasionally.  Ohio State will always be the prime college football program in the state.  MUC played Dayton in the first round of the playoffs in '86 the same day of OSU - Michigan.  Many Mount fans who travelled to the game brought radios or small tvs to follow the game.  Name recognition is a large factor.  Cincy played in a BCS bowl last year, yet most Ohioans were probably much more interested in OSU-Texas.  For whatever reason there is deep rooted feelings that the Buckeyes are Ohio's lone representative in NCAA football.  Even though I never attended OSU, I still watch them on tv when possible and hope they do well.  As an MUC grad I have a vested rooting interest in the Raiders and have travelled to see them play as often as possible. OSU's enrollment dwarfs the combined enrollment of all OAC schools combined, therefore interest and viewership will remain grerater.

you know what REALLY, REALLY bothers me is that Ohio State WILL NOT come back down to Cincinnati.... remember the 2003 game when Guidugli should've beaten Ohio State??  Well it seems Ohio State is tucking their tail and running.

Then they wonder why they let their fans down in January each year.... its because of the damn money-guarantee games that give them 8 home games.  OK so they play USC on September 12th... besides Penn State, where are they gonna get tested??

Don't blame it on the warm weather teams not wanting to come north and play in the cold.... its because the team doesn't get tested until they play in January.

Sorry for the rant.

What does everyone think about the Michael Vick thing with the Eagles?  in short, he deserves a 2nd chance.  Thats what America is built on.  I have acquaintances (mostly females) who are saying that he's only allowed back in the NFL because he's black.  BS  --- people are idiots (even if they are easy on the eyes), the guy paid dearly for his mistakes (and everyone makes mistakes) and now its time for redemption.

Wait and see what the Humane Society says today at the presser in Philly.

I will absolutely not draft Garcon.  I read his stats for his time at Mount Union, watched him play in the Stagg, and marvelled at his ability to excel against DIII talent.  I rooted for him to be drafted.  I search for his highlights online on Monday's.  There are few players outside of the Giants that I actively seek out to see what they did on the field.  But let's be honest here, this is fantasy football, not DIII or even the NFL.

Long story short, I can't imagine drafting Garcon...I don't play fantasy football.

reality check

The kid from AZ played at the Orme School which is a boarding school/college prep/military-type school.  We have a number of them out here.  I can't comment for certain about the 8-man part but I do know they play against AIA (equivalent of OHSAA) 1-A schools I'm familiar with.  I-A is the smallest school division in AZ.  I have to imagine that Orme plays 11 man since they teams they play against are AIA schools and they're an AIA school themselves.  The school is in Yavapai County which is up north in the middle of nowhere.

He might be a diamond in the rough or get totally overwhelmed in Ohio by the sheer numbers and talent.
