What? No love for Musky Fightin' Fish? Come on, I got two former student athletes on that team.   8)

My best friend (and Coach Monty's son) also coaches there!

Nice picture to put on the cover i think  :P  Not sure why he's on there though

Odd picture choice for the NCAA record book.  One would think it logical to put the player that just broke the all-divisions rushing record on the cover.  But logic and NCAA aren't often together.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Small but Slow

Any thoughts about the NCAA's new proposal to promote sportsmanship in college football?  They are requesting teams to meet at  midfield to shake hands before the game.  I'm interested to see how this turns out, especially with the high emotions of some of the early season rivalry games.  FSU v. Miami is one that is wrought with potential disaster.  At the D3 level it could be a little awkward when a team visiting MUC brings it's team to midfield to shake the hands of 200 uniformed Purple Raiders.

IMHO, style, not substance.

Sorry, but I cannot interpret it any other way.

It might devolve into the perfunctory "matching" of the boxing gloves before the start of a match, with no real change in the heart of the participant.

I always thought that the captains of both teams shaking hands before and or after the coin toss did that as representatives of each team.

Lets just let the Captains go to midfield and skip the pre-game free for all   8)

Anybody remember the Mount-Otterbein pre-game hijinx

Come on, we don't even do that in Pee-Wee's

This should suffice. Sending everyone out is going overboard ... pretty soon they'll be playing touch instead of tackle.

Agree with everyone.  This is getting ridiculous.

Why don't the teams merely throw a party and dispense with the game? Playing football is just too hostile and aggressive.

+K Frank, but make sure the party is alcohol free so it doesn't get too  hostile or aggressive.

I have to agree, it's an ill advised idea.  It may very well lead to trouble.

The way that I interpret the release is that the pregame handshake is for just the first weekend of college football (Sept. 3-7) and not every game.
