With two son's in the military (one in ROTC, the other an Army Ranger about to be deployed)....this is a poignant day to remember.  Some will remember "where they were" when Michael Jackson died....for me, it's Kennedy and 9/11.

God Bless America.

I don't even know when Michael Jackson died, or what I was doing.  But I will ALWAYS remember what I was doing on 9/11.

I was picking up Chinese food when I heard.....I cried..granted it was because they forgot the eggrolls.

I was taking the wife for her ob/gyn visit during her 6th month when we watched the plane go into tower 2 from Rt 139 in Jersey approaching the Holland Tunnel.

Just tried looking things up on both the JCU and Muskingum websites. Geez. Thank you Mount Union and Lenny.

BTW I also was in 6th Period Study Hall when JFK was assasinated., the doctors office when the first plane hit and nobody will probably ever know When Michael Jackson died. He'll probably come to after the drugs wear off

By the way my comment was in reference to where I was when Michael Jackson died.........not 9/11. On 9/11 I was getting ready to go teach a political science class at Akron. My brother and his wife were working in the Pentagon. Actually just had a talk with my 8 year old about 9/11. They had a moment of silence at school and she did not really understand why since the school did not really explain. She asked me what I did and I told her that I signed a new contract for the Army, left my PhD program and went overseas. Nuff' said.

I was an Artillery Platoon Leader in Germany at the time of the attacks.  Talk about a tense time.

We had some kids get busted for drugs a week or so before and the First Sergeant had done a 100% "health and Welfare" inspection of all the rooms in our barracks at the commander's order.  We found some pills in a room, so the commander ordered a 100% drug test.  We marched to the Battalion Gym and myself and the other officers and senior NCOs locked down the unit.

Keep in mind we were in Germany, so 6 hours ahead of the east coast.  When the planes hit, it was early afternoon for us.  We didn't know what the F*** was going on because we were locked in that gym, but ionce we got done, we all turned on the TVs and watched in horror as the towers fell.  We didn't get off duty until 2300 (11pm for you non-military types), were told to pack our gear and report with it back to the office at 0600 the next morning.  The MP's completely locked down the post.

It took me 2 and 1/2 hours to get through the gate to post that next morning, most of us didn't make the 0600 formation...

Every time I see it again, on these anniversaries, I am glad I played a small part in sending a few of those a-holes back to Allah (no offense to true Muslims intended, because those turds are not true Muslims).

Kind of how we felt when we were submerged close to land off Beirut spotting for the USS New Jersey when she was shelling terrorists after they blew up the Marine Barracks.  We had the periscope camera feed going to the monitor in the control room and the radiomen and ET's rigged up a connection to the TV in the crews mess.  We were cheering with every explosion.

Heading to New Concord for the Fishies JV game Sunday. Is there anything great I should see in the area? Seriously, for whatever reason it doesn't start till 4:00.

"LET'S ROLL!!"

I remember I was sitting in one of my professor's office at MUC that morning going over a paper.  He had CNN on his TV in the background and we just sat there in stunned silence for what seemed like forever.  Over the following days I remember how proud I was of us as Americans.  Story after story of unbelievable courage and compassion, often in the aid of total strangers.  Even in the face of that tragedy ordinary people rose to the challenge again and again.  God bless all those who lost their lives that day and all those they left behind.

Toledo Off. Coordinator Matt Campbell isn't having much trouble scoring against BCS teams.  They lost 52-31 to Purdue last week and they're embarrassing Colorado 54-31 right now.  Averaging 42.5 pts/gm against the big boys isn't too shabby.  And that's without his starting RB!

Dr. Acula

I hate to second guess coaches almost as much as I hate to make back to back posts about MAC football, but Dan Hawkins had his son in at QB in garbage time and he just got CRUSHED.  He was running for a TD (to make it 54-38 w/ 2 min to go) and took a helmet to helmet shot.  He was in LaLa Land.  Hope he's OK for next week because it certainly isn't worth losing your starting QB to cut the lead to 16 at that point.  Just don't get that one.

Never want to see anyone injured, but after watching the younger Hawkins...it might not be a bad thing if he missed a couple of games for the Buffs.  Doesn't look like a D1 qb at all,  how far have the Buffs fallen in not all that long

JK, a little late on this, but I was at the Yongsan U.S. Army Garrison in Seoul at the time.  The morning after, the usual 5-10 minute drive to the main gate (and later my office) took nearly 4 hours. Seoul traffic is normally very confusing to begin with, but on that day is was unreal.  Once I made the mistake to get in the car, I was toast - couldn't even get out of the car to park it and walk.  It was one of those moments where it's difficult to explain if you weren't there. At least you know what I mean.
