How can any school with the guts to open their season against Haskell Indian Nations University, not be DIII ;)

BTW Doesn't the word university make them seem more worldly and prestigous?

I'm sure it gives them great credibility in Europe!

If the word college is inferior to the word university, then there must be a word that trumps them both. Since its more of a marketing solution, allow some ad agency to come up with the new term. May I suggest the term Uberversity. How can any school be higher than an Uberversity?

Hey who was the back up punt/kickoff returner in the second half? I predict exciting returns from him in the future.

Mount's #1 preseason rank replacing an All American backfield tandem is a compliment to LK and the program's ability to successfully reload.  It's the same argument as in the FBS.  Is Florida presently the best team in the nation, right now?  Probably not, but as long as they continue to win, impressively or not, its hard to knock them off their perch at the top.  At least in DIII we have the playoff system that truly determines which team is #1.

As of now the preseason rankings are only a gauge, UWW could be #1 just as Mount is, but until something like a close game, or  loss, I do not see Mount to slip much.

The much bigger issue on the offence is finding the complete balance. The running game is becoming better with Panchik and Morring with some good bask-ups, But
the QB position need Rocco to improve . Seaman is geting better as was as mentioned earlier. but the offence in not apporaching mid-season form. A good test against Cap may bring it closer before the playoffs.

After seeing pictures on the Alliance Review Website, I don't mind the Black on Black Uniforms.  I would like to see White Jerseys over Black Pants.  Might be a good combination with the Purple Helmets.

I don't see the reason to play Cecil at QB until they really need it.  We all know Cecil is still taking some reps there, but why show your hand until forced to?  I doubt anyone in the OAC is strong enough defensively to require Cecil to throw the ball to score.  Come playoff time, I expect to see Shorts slinging it.

I agree, HSC. No need to pull out all the stops.  The running game is working beautifully. I guess I'm just nostalgic for the G.M. air show.  But it's a new year. And the new play makers are just as entertaining.

I think there has to be a decision about a starting QB soon. I don't think this duo is puzzling defenses anymore than the battling B's (Burghardt and Bruney)did, but they are confusing the offense.

Bushman, Seventies says here what I was thinking about the offense struggles.... :-\

Be thankful Mount doesn't have Nike giving them the crazy gettups Oregon wears.  We might see silver helmets, with black jerseys and gray pants one week, white helmets, black jerseys, and purple pants the next.  The possibilities are frightening.
Good luck tomorrow night, KD!

but will it help them attract foreign students?  better make sure that omniversity doesnt mean high school in some small village in Slovakia, or BW might crumble

We have an exchange student from Sweden playing on our high school jv team, and one of our starting varsity DE's is from Africa and 'university' is no where in our school's name.

Yuck.  That would like Ohio Northern playing with the wrong helmets.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I watched the BW MUC game last night on TV and I have a feeling something is missing when it comes to MU.  I know they lost many great players but that happens every year with them.  The D is sick but the offense just looks off.  Most Mount teams you could take their best player out and they would have 3 others ready to step in.  I really feel like if you took Shorts out of the line-up they would really struggle.  Hopefully Cap has them soon enough before they figure it out.

I've read most, if not all, the dialogue regarding the official name change at Mount Union College. I'd prefer not to involve myself since I feel that's better left to the alumni and other "friends" of the institution. But, I just wanted to leave you with some food for thought from an American living abroad.  I've lived overseas for more than 20 years; I can tell you that a school with the title "College" attached has a very negative connotation among many potential international students.  Especially here in Korea, my home for the past 16 years, you'd be hard-pressed to find a student willing to attend anything other than a school with "University" associated with it. To a Korean, a College is a 2 year school, like a technical or trade school.  In the Korean educational system, getting a low score on the nationwide university entrance exam as a High School senior, means you will end up at a "College," for two years, if you go at all. A student in this boat has virtually no chance of landing in at a domestic "University."  Of course it's only semantics to us, but to a potential international student considering a life-changing decision like going abroad for education, name does make a huge difference.

Thanks for the international perspective.  Sometimes we forget that people of different cultures do not see the world through the same eyes we do in our little corner of the world.  The negative connotation associated with American names has been an issue since we became a global market.  The Chevy Nova struggles in Spanish speaking countries since it translated into "don't go."
