Hopefully Trusnik get the exposure with the Browns to become the impact player he is capable of becoming. So great to see a number of D3 players moving beyond roster spots and becoming key parts of NFL rosters. And it goes without saying that at least in their first couple of years the are "bargains" compared to their DI brethren

per Otterbein's QB...

I think we're capable of winning out and going deep into the playoffs," said Schlosser. "Mount's a tough team and I'm sure everybody on our team knows that's going to be our biggest game, but I think they're beatable this year. I've seen them in a couple films that we watched on Ohio Northern and they kind of look like they've got a down year going.

Quick piece of advice never ever as a current player make a statement like this.  I will take Mount plus 40.

Where, might I ask, did this quote come from??

Old Otter: Check the Around the Region piece for the Great Lakes. I really think the added jab of 'I think we can go right down the field' will inspire the Mount defense. Should be fun to see ;D. However, in all fairness, Mount's O does look like it is having a bit of a down year. We have all discussed the issue at QB and how Mounts O looks off so far this year. Still - I would not want to wake a sleeping giant - I'd rather take him by surprise.

I like what I have seen from Trusnik. He is aggressive with every opportunity he gets. I think the Browns will use him on D more than the Jets did. I mean if you are shipping out a former 1st round WR for 2 players and a few picks - you must intend on using the players you get now IMO. I mean if they just sit them - and use Trus on special teams only - are they really getting anything now? I think Trus will see playing time immediatly. Afterall, the Browns D has lots of room for improvement.

reality check

I will have a huge problem rooting for the Browns now that Trusnik is aboard.  It turns my stomach thinking about caring about Browns football.

I am still a Steeler fan but I must admit that with each new season I become less of a fan of teams and instead follow certain players. So I will root for and track Trusnik - like I do with Pierre.

Raider 68

Perhaps the Otterbein backup QB was watching the offensive tapes of the Mount games and not  the Defensive reels...
I would not want to tick off this defense that Mount puts on the field...been watching the Raiders since late 60's and have seen few, defenses  that measures up to this one for talent and speed...

Raiderpa,

I agree Mount's defense is one of the best I have seen and their team speed is quicker than the many fine defenses before. Both Cap and Ott
will have their hands fulls. It was team speed on defense that Florida beat OSU in the championship game a few years back. I still believe that offenses win games, defenses will championships! :)

In an earlier post, I someone mentioned that Coach Kehres will see who rises to the top at QB, and the Cap game just could be it.

Mount's offense will get better as the year goes on . Mooring and Panchik are just now rounding into form, particularly Mooring, and don't think LK  hasn't noticed. Seaman is not going to take the QB position over.  Some write like LK is looking to replace Rocco and nothing could be further from the truth.  Both qb's will be needed.  At this point ,the defense is ahead of the offense. Capitals run defense will be tested this week and I predict Terrance Mooring ,Panchik and the Raider offense will catch up a little on a great Mount Union defense.

Rumor is Braylon Edwards is still in Cleveland, he couldn't "catch" his flight. Ba-zinga

Kehresma

I think Rocco is coming along well and I give him a lot of credit for his patience in accepting the secondary role these past years.  Last year when he worked in it was time to burn clock, so most often it looked like his assignment was to hand it to the running backs.  I look forward to his getting better and better at seeing the field and finding his targets.  This Saturday should be a good game.

Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Small but Slow

Spread offenses forced "D" coordinators to adjust their schemes and infuse more speed into their defenses.  The MUC scheme really isn't that much different than 20 years ago, but now 2 OLB's have been replaced with DB's whose main duty is to play the pass and funnel the run to the ILB's.  A good defense needs 11 guys on the field who can either penetrate, pursue, cover, and all must be able to tackle.  VK and the D staff has done a fine job recruiting athletes and coaching them on their jobs.  A defensive scheme is only as good as the players.
