that was a wild one in bexley.  hats off to cap for a great effort, but they just came up a bit short.  although i will say that they were the best team MUC has faced this year.  the thing that kept Cap in the game was all those 3rd down conv.  their playcalling was incredibly predictable but assman was making some incredible throws on 3rd down.  i wont go as far to say that the Mount D showed holes but rather had a poor day in the tackling department.  we all knew that the only way to run at Mount is right at them, and that worked a bit for Cap and then Assman making the throws.

i was not sure if we would see Rocco after that ill-advised int in the 3rd, just a horrible decision, but it was great to see him lead the raiders to the final score and win.  hope that can build his confidence a bit.....oh yeah, good to see williamson back in the game late too

Very true, suit.  Cap did a great job getting that extra lean forward so they seemed to pick up the 1st by a foot every time.  And Assmann was doing a great job with his reads.

Good to hear about Williamson because it didn't look good when he left.  It seemed like there was a lot of Saum and Budzinski at DT today.

Sitting here finding out why Wooster doesn't want to play Mount,,, or maybe why Mount may not want to play Case Western in the playoffs. Whalen looking pretty good.

Well, Case just gave Wooster a safety, so it's almost a game again at 24-11

I hesitate to mention this, because I don't want to take away from what was a great game, but I saw the absolute most classless display by a fan EVER today.  Sorry Mount fans, I know most of you guys aren't like this, but you wonder why you get a bad reputation?  Here is why...

After the Assmann fumble a MUC fan that was standing in the walkway  at about the 50 yard line turned to the Cap fans, grabbed his crotch, said a few profanities and then flipped off the fans in the stands.  To make it worse, he was standing there with his WIFE.  To make it even worse, asfter he was confronted by a Capital official, he walked toward the MUC end of the stands and a few MUC fans HIGH FIVED HIM!!!!  He then proceeded to run away from the cops out of the stadium and around the library into the alley on the east side of the stadium, outside the fence, yelling and taunting the cops the whole way.  I think he might have had a little liquid courage, but still, what a d-bag.  The MUC fans sitting behind me were even upset by the scene.  SOrry folks, but a-holes like that earn you a bad rep.

Cap certainly made a statement today, but it will all be for naught if they don't win out.  ONU, OTT, and maybe even JCU will be tests.  But, I think this Capital team is the second best team in the OAC right now.  Here's hoping we'll see you again in the post season.

Most MUC fans hate that behavior as well.  I wish the jerk had been caught and arrested.  Why can't people understand that this is just a game--it's just not that important.

BTW--is there some tradition at Cap of both teams meeting at midfield for an after game prayer? Or are you aware of what the kneel down by both teams was about today?

I know.  Like someone said, there is one in every crowd.  It's a shame that it had to be so public, right in the middle of the stadium.  One idiot, who probably never spent day one in a classroom at MUC has to act like that and sully an otherwise respectful environment.

No idea what the mass huddle was at midfield.  Not a tradition that I know of, at least it wasn't in my day.  I know LK has great respect for all opponents, but especially Cap after the last few years.  By extension, I assume his team shares that respect, esp. after today.  Might well have just been a good display of true sportsmanship with two "Christian" colleges joining together for a brief thanks for a great game and for making it out of such a tough one relatively uninjured.

Shook both LK and Jim Bickel's hands and congratulated both for a great game after the game today.  I know they probably don't read these posts, but I appreciate them taking a few minutes to talk with me afterward.  LK immediately recognized me (I look too much like my Dad- he called me Mike) and Coach Bickel recognized who I was immediately after I introduced myself.  Both class individuals.

No excuse for the tasteless and pathetic behavior from a Mt Union fan, but that kind crude of display by one person should no more earn Mt fans "a bad rep" than should the Capital fan --who walked in front of the Mt fans and greeted us with the F-bomb after the pass interference/sideline violation dual call-- earn Cap fans a bad rep.

Thanks, Cap players, coaches and fans for hosting us and challenging us with such class and heart.

JK

Agreed.  It's just that MUC has a much larger reputation on a National scale as a program, so the behavior of a few unfortunate souls is magnified

Mount has a lot of Alliance followers, a handull of which tend to over shadow a lot of great local supporters, many of whom haunt this board.

Not a lot of defense happening in Wooster. Scots up by 1 in mid third Quarter 32-31

Any excuse for a Cleveland sportscaster finding the town name of Zoar so unusual that he has to spell it and then totally murdering Tuscarawas Valley High School. I mean there is a fairly large river named Tuscarawas, hence the valley name

Great to both watch the game and listen to Ric & Mark.  Great job guys.

Thanks.

What a great game to call.  Both teams played hard and clean.  Very few penalties, only one turnover for each team, and plently of great plays on both sides.

Congrats to Kurt Rocco on becoming The Man under center for Mount!  Lord knows I've been all over him, but the senior made play after play under pressure today.  Every time Cap would open up a lead, Rocco would make the throws necessary to bring the Raiders back.  Good job!

I was very surprised by the Mount defensive game plan today.  Not many blitzes and a lot of soft zone coverages.  Looked like a Monty called defense, not a Vk defense.

Was very disappointed with Roger Stewart at safety.  Numerous times he came flying up to make the big hit and wiffed instead of making the sure tackle.  I know the big hits are fun and get everyone excited, but in a tight game on 3rd down, what the team needs is a sure tackle.  I know the coaches weren't real happy with him either as they pulled him out to give him an ear full.

Great effort by Capital today.  They played well enough to win, but just came up short.  Good luck the rest of the season and hopefully we see you in Alliance in December.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Results for Week 6 have been posted.

Spreads for Week 7 will be posted on Sunday.

It actually is the Tuscarawas Valley Local School District that he was trying to bumble through. It is Tusky Valley HS.

Grabbing a bite to eat and heading home to Moggy from Wooster. Case scores 3 unanswered TD's and wins by 20. Case has a very good team and Wooster.... very inconsistant

What is it about our society today that makes people think that in order to celebrate our successes we must demean those who we have succeeded against?  What happened to celebration without humiliation?  Too many individuals seem to think that we must rub the opponent's nose in it rather than being grateful and celebrating the accomplishment of success.

In a game like today's, while one team was victorious, there aren't any losers.  There are just men (and boys) who have played with valor and pride and put it all on the field.  The individual accomplishments, the pride in a job well done--a battle well fought--are what we should celebrate.

Some of you (JK included) have served in situations where a mistake costs people lives--where a fumble means someone may die--where an errant throw may destroy the world of innocent bystanders--in situations when it really matters.  This is just a football game.

I am a huge fan of Mount Union football, but I also recognize that, had Capital won the game, the sun would still come up tomorrow for all of us, Cap fans and MUC fans alike--and that the world will continue to turn--and that I should be thankful for my health and the health of my family and friends.

I know that HSCoach's tag line of being offended by easily offended people is, in part, a jab at comments that I made last year--but I really don't think that my personal offense at the boorish behavior of any fans, and especially Mount fans falls into the category of being easily offended--

Okay, I'll get off my soap box now--but these a$$hole$ really get my hackles up.

Peace.  Out.

I agree!

Thanks to Cap for the video link. I was unable to make it to the game but had the pleasure of watching in on my laptop. Congrats to Cap on a fine effort. They certainly looked like a playoff team.

Mount does look vulnerable but Rocco did step up and hopefully a challenge like this will help battle test this team.

So, with all the success of the MUC program, how come they don't stream ALL their games online?

There are MUC graduates all over that would like to watch the team more than once or twice a year.

Just got back to Ohio today, missed the game and only heard the score.
While I thought the game was going to be close, I was surprized to hear the score.

For Cap a great game and positives for the final five games and a  potential playoff birth.

For Mount, a great test and come from behind victory, but still work to do. Not sure of the fan issue since I am just getting caught up.
