that "douche bag" had 2* TD's after a week with the new offense...i dont see it as an effort thing, but rather playing for an actual NFL team again.

No, I think that proves even more how much of an effort (and mental) thing it was for him.  Did you ever watch him run his routes here?  He was completely lazy, jogging when he wasn't the primary receiver, not fighting to cut across the corner on slant routes, etc.  And of course that's not to mention the drops.  The guy is a TO, Brandon Marshall, Chad Javon Ochocinco.  A talent on the field, but only when he feels like it, and a detriment in the locker room (and off the field otherwise as well).  I'm glad we got rid of him.  We'll be better off in the long run with a receiver who will put forth more effort, catch a higher percentage of the balls thrown to him, and run block.

why bust your ass for a crap organization and coach that changes yearly?  he was in the new NFL-Siberia, he did what he had to to get out.  I dont think that you can blame him.  If your boss and upper-management were idiots, would you not try anything to get out of your contract to find a better locale?

I know I would not slack on my job and become a douchebag just to get fired, there is a thing called personal pride and pride in doing a good job even if your job sucks.  It is called being an adult.

here, here... +K.    his responsibility was to the Cleveland fans, who helped pay his massive salary.. Just as Ochocinco failed this responsibility last year.

For some reason (and I don't think I'm alone here) being an adult in the NFL applies to maybe .5% of the players.

And the Browns are NOT a crap organization.

Besides the fact that you are BEING PAID HANDSOMELY to play hard.

Working for an inept boss and upper management idiots...

That sounds suspiciously similar to 99% of the corporate jobs in America.  I'd have been fired over and over and over again under these circumstances.

Just finished listening to the interview with Pierre on WHBC. Sam Berkmun asked him how you can't take the time to pat yourself on the back every now & then, reminding yourself how good your team is. He had aclassic answer "You remind yourself that you aren't as good as you think you are when youwin, just like you aren't as bad as you think you are when you lose". Sounds like a carry over from his MUC days. He said Manning does not throw the ball too hard nor too soft, he just throws it really accurate. Good interview, but I don't know if you can get it on WHBC web site or not. He would not answer the question about haw he got a tail put on him called the big frog, he just laughed.

reality check

Since Saintsfan eluded to it earlier, I'll share my trip back to Ohio...

  • Friday morning, was at the airport at 5:30 AM in PHX
  • told my flight was canceled months ago by the ticket agent; Priceline had sent me old and outdated flight itinerary just days ago
  • sent to alternate terminal for the airline's consolation flight with expectations of missing flight
  • missed alternate flight thanks to United's speed of service and was told United didn't care (I had to deal with original airline that canceled me)
  • back to original terminal to search for further alternate flights that would work
  • fifteen minutes of futile attempts to reschedule my flight
  • at breaking point I pull out this gem: "I need to be in Dayton, OH by 7 pm tonight to be inducted into my HS athletic HOF."  (TOTAL LIE)
  • Finally find flight through partner airline...into Indianapolis
  • Told by ticket agent, "We're just glad we could get you into that HOF tonight sir."
  • Kept a straight face as I walked away
  • Landed in Indianapolis to rain, 50's and overcast skies at 4:00 after leaving sunny and 85 in AZ
  • Got to Dayton after two hours of driving through steady rain in time to drop bags, change clothes and go to the game
  • Parked at Carroll HS in time to see team leaving field from pre-game warm-up
  • Told by alumni director on sidelines that I was supposed to give pre-game talk to players but missed it by five minutes
  • Watched CJ beat Carroll 13-7 in OT (easily the highlight of my day)
  • Got back to truck to find I was stuck in the mud at back end of parking lot (ie grass field) after hours and hours of steady rain
  • 40 minutes later I was out of the mud...
  • ...with a flat tire
  • called AAA because I was spent!

So yeah, that was my Friday.  Saturday was a different story.  Everything went amazingly smooth for the trip to ONU.  Saintsfan was surprisingly tolerable and well-spoken for a Badin guy.  Coach Paul was great to us.  We probably talked for 45 minutes in the locker room after the stadium tour.  I even ran into my college roomie and had a good chat with President Baker and his wife during the third quarter.  After this most recent trip home, I am even more impressed with the Bakers.  They're great leaders of the university.

The only downside to my football experience while home was having to listen to my dad's analysis of the Bengals game.  I hope that I get to see ONU play another game this year when I'm back November but that would be second round of the NCAAs so I'll have to keep my fingers crossed.

Actually the majority are and if they aren't they ****ing need to grow up.  Also if the HS, College and other coaches and parents didn't spoil them and let them act like petulant assholes maybe they would be adults.

Perhaps you meant alluded?  Eluded means that he tried to avoid it!! Which, considering who made the trip, might, actually, be more appropriate.  ;D

RC:

Sorry to hear that you had such a, shall we say, challenging, and initially frustrating trip to get to your weekend.  However, your collegiate experience provided your perseverence and it appear all worked out satisfactory.  For sure, you will have a great memory to look back on in the future and, at least now, you can chuckle about it. ;D ;)

It sure is a great experience to go back to campus for a visit like that.  I had a similar weekend (although certainly not like yours with the temporary setbacks/delays) this past weekend at Hope College Homecoming.  Saw a lot of my former teammates there, great dinners including one recognizing our just retired coach there, our H-Club letterman dinner, the 100th Year Celebration of football at the college, and, of course, the football game, etc..  It is always great to go back.  Anyway, again, glad that overall you had a good time.

Now there is a great word..."petulant".  It sure fits a lot of people and is a classy one for use when needed in certain situations. ;D :o ;)

Forget the polls and who is number one.Hells Bells ---Larry Kehres won Stagg Bowls 1996,1997,1998 with so called less talent than Rowan and Lycoming .Larry Kehres and the Mount Union Purple Raiders of Alliance Ohio continue to be just like Smuckers peanut butter and Smuckers jelly-------SIMPLY THE BEST .Say what ---coach Kehres like 276-21-3 in 24 years----WOW and 10 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowls---.Kehres knows how to win with the talent he has playing "team ball"  from year to year.Anybody that doubts that is SIMPLY A FOOL !! The only way to find out if Whitewater is better than Mount is to stay tuned and see if they can roll the playoffs and get to Salem Va.
