MUC JV's beat Ashland last night in a game that featured lots of "O" and very little "D" except for MUC's D-line.

Any score or stats?  Ric doesn't have anything up yet and Lenny's not answering his phone!

I grew up on the "Heights" passing as jewish, because the catholic girls were no fun. Lots of interesting food in the Cedar-Lee area. Maybe not so much on Saturday before sundown. The Jews moved to Beachwood

There is still a large Jewish presence in the Heights area, but you're right, many have moved east.  Shouldn't be an issue finding places to eat because very few establishments in that area pay attention to the sabbath.  The one noted exception would be if you were looking to eat at one of the Orthodox places on Taylor Road, you're probably out of luck.

I think it was 43-28.  No stats, but Peludat looked good throwing the ball, Ashland couldn't cover #7, I think he had two TD receptions.  Larson and Ebert were strong running the ball.  Ashland had a tough time on the ground until late in the game, but threw the ball pretty well.
MUC had a timely Int in the fourth quarter that allowed us to pull away.

who are they?  are they in the NCAC?

Apparently Ashland didn't want to risk varsity players in the JV game again this year

I think most of the Celts players would have been more Rowan material in the 90's rather than the NCAC. Ha

I'm headin to the festivities soon!

Seventies,

This fall there was a discussion on this board and the WIAC board
regarding the OAC advantage by having JV games vs. WIAC not having
any.

Do you are anyone know where the W-L records can be found? I do
remember that the JV had/have a stretch of undefeated seasons for several years. Just curious! I checked Ric's site, but could not find them.

There usually aren't any records per se kept about the JV, but I'm pretty sure we lost one of the two Ashland meetings last year. I have it from one of the former Ashland JV's  (who threw shot for me at Mogadore) that most of them didn't get to play in that game because Lee Owens wasn't going to let Mount win twice.

Ric, HSCoach or Raiderpa could probably help you out. Till lately I've been too busy with my own coaching responsibilities to get to many JV games, although I saw them all in 2001

In addition, the Purple Raiders' JV squad defeated Ashland 47-28 last night to improve to 9-0 on the season.  There has been a change to this weekend's schedule.  The Monday evening contest at home with Waynesburg has been cancelled and a 2:00 game on Sunday afternoon at Washington & Jefferson has been added.  From mtunionfootball.com

I don't believe there are any stats for the game available unless Ric is keeping them top secret.  ;D

If you go to RICs site and on the left under the Season Archives, you can see each JV schedule going back to 2000.  Nothing before then that I could find.

2009:  9-0 so far
2008:  9-1 Lost to Ashland
2007:  9-0
2006:  8-1 Lost to Cincinnati Harmony
2005:  5-0
2004:  8-0
2003:  8-0
2002:  7-0
2001:  9-0
2000:  7-0

On a side note, if you have never been to a JV game, check one out. The games are a lot of fun and the kids really play hard to show their stuff. Some of the most entertaining games I've ever been to.

Thanks Kirasdad, I thought the JV had won 6 years in a row. Many
other non-OAC D3 fans do not look at this the way the OAC does.
This consistency is the reason Mount has in a position to win at
the national level. I need to look at Ric's site more often.

That 2006 Cincinnati Harmony team was nassssssty. A bunch of D-1 guys that didn't qualify. They destroyed the OC jv that year. Not sure where he ended up going but they had a 6'5'' WR out of Lakota West who was supposed to go to Louisville
