Thanks RC for your info.  Always good to be accurate.  Newspaper had him as leading rusher.  I also hope Da Bears get in the playoffs.  And Pat, the sweater vest always takes the field goal over a possible TD try.  Risks? What risks   Always be predictable and never take any risks.  Thats  the safe play.

I do not risk the FG block and go for it....

Does anyone know what went on with #9 from Otterbein yesterday on the sideline in the first half? He was very upset and a coach actually said :get him out of here".  He left for the locker room after this and did not see him in the second half.  Hopefully he found a way back to the Otterbein.

If Otterbein would have fought as hard on the field as they did on the sidelines it would have been a much better game.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Results for Week 10 and Spreads for Week 11 have been posted.

I vote for Reality Check taking the last week off to rest up for the playoffs.  No sense in pulling a hammy when you have it in the bag. ;)

With Alfred and Albright both losing yesterday there isn't a single undefeated team in the East Regional Rankings.  Looks more and more like MUC is heading to the East Region and Whitewater to the North again.

My thanks to Lenny Reich for a terrific visit to Raiderland and special seats too.

Great to see Skunks, Skunks Jr, and Skunks Sidekick again at a favorite Alliance watering hole.

And thanks to the Raiders for a special introductory lesson to Otterbein"s soph QB who was sure he had the secret formula to a win against the Raiders.......

Lesson one: Keep mouth shut. :-X
Lesson two: Don't throw INT's on the goal line. :(
Lesson three:Refer to lessons one and two. :P

See ya next year! ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

After the second score you just saw all the air go out of the OTT balloon.  Soon after #9 just completely melted down, and it was ugly.  I think it must have been Rafferty (#15 jersey in sweats?) that tried to calm the kid down, but that kid was like a two year old that needed a NAP!  If I was the coach, I would have made that kid walk back to OTT.

It was great seeing Panchik running the ball, and looking like he could cut, and obviously still have his speed.  That bodes well for Mount in the play-offs.  How frustrating must it be for a defensive player who thinks he has a sack on Rocco, only to just slide to the ground after hitting him while Rocco is still standing.

I don't know if Mount has enough to win it all, but I think they are ready.

Jay.....great seeing you and the Mrs.   You now know where we will be before any game..and you are ALWAYS welcome!

Why did #9 meltdown?  Anyone know?  I'm sitting here trying to imagine why that would happen in such a big game..

I knew the claim in the Columbus Dispatch that many of the Ott players
was not entirely true. No. #12 played the whole game, and I was not impressed with him. The Raiders have seen so many good QB's in the past
and some that were just sophmores, he did not rank up there.

Great to see Mount's "D" stop the run. Good indicators for a maybe holding
a top running back in check  like Coppage - UWW if we get to that point.

Raiderguy:  Hope you have a safe trip back to enemy territory.  Thanks for stopping by the booth at halftime.

Sidekick:  I had the same exact thought at halftime yesterday.  They look as ready as they can get.

I've come full circle this season.  They entered the season with a HUGE question mark at QB and now nine weeks later, they have have a stud slinging it.  My biggest fear for the playoffs now is Mother Nature.  If they play a great team in horrible weather like the '07 Stagg was played in, they're going to be in trouble.

Hscoach,

What does your cystal ball say for Alliance weather for 11-21 to 12-12-09
and Salem on 12-19-09?  We all remember Salem  December 2007.

I am a "little" more optimistic than you. At this point I think the Raiders chances are real good even with the weather. The running game is coming
on real well and a new guy (Zac) may be a bigger surprize to the opponents than anyone thought ( Panchik getting healthier as well). I also like the aggressive defense of late.

In tracking UWW, (if we get to play them), their stats and the Raiders
are mirror images of each other. We we have more passing, they have
more rushing, but in total they are the almost the same.

Mount  44.3 points scored
              9.1 points given up

UWW    40.4 points scored
               7.0 points given up

After 9 games

Long way to go however, before the numbers take on greater significance! :-\

SaintsFAN, me too.
I was among the 44.9% who respected Otterbein enough to bet they could stay within 40.5 pts of Mount Union.  That respect was totally unwarranted.  The Cardinals took a worse beating than every team Mount's played this year except the OAC last place Wilmington Quakers.
I visited the Otterbein website looking for some explanation for why they sucked so bad.  All I found was a quote from their coach about his key to beating the Raiders.

"The key in playing Mount Union is to stop the big play from their offense," Loth said. "They've become a big-play offense again. You've got to make them drive the football."  Joe Loth

I guess you could say coach Loth did succeed in helping Mount Union drive the football into the end zone.

reality check

New d3 poll is out.  First place votes remain the same, 19-6 in favor of MUC.

ONU jumps up 4 spots to 13 after defeating CAP and OTT falls 8 spots from 15 to 23.  CAP slips out of the top 25 with the loss.  There were no changes to the top 11 slots from last week to this week.

Not many top 15 teams figure to have tough games in the final week so very little room for ONU to move up.  Wesley plays Ohio Dominican (NAIA) who is 7-2 and Thomas More plays undefeated MSJ but both teams have playoff slots secured.  There just isn't much room for ONU to move up and position itself but the higher they are, the better they have to look in the eyes of the committee.  In 2004 ONU was 15th in the Week 11 poll and in 2005 they sat at 20th.  This figures to be the highest-ranked ONU team with 2 losses.
