Pat is also projecting MHB to the east with possible second game,[ after thanksgiving] at Mt. Union.  Oh would I like another crack at those guys.

Be careful what you ask for.

I don't think there's a Mount fan alive who doesn't want another shot at MHB, even you HScoach, right?

I agree, but not sure the NCAA will move MHB to the East like the D3 guys think. Also if they do, I would think they could be a #3 seed and not see
Mount until round three. That is OK as well, a matchup between MUC/MHB
will not only be great, but it would give Mount a tough test.
I think the brackets by d3 would make the playoffs more entertaining, even if it did mean either Mount or UMHb couldn't make the semis, but I think that's a game that would need to be televised.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Before the crap hits the fan in 8 minutes, the Week 11 pick-em results have been updated.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Oh crap!

I guess the ONU / OTT question is now moot.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

w&j is an interesting matchup for mount, especially after the heated scrimmage this preseason.

onu should have gotten in...too bad

SaintsFAN

reality check

I worried three weeks ago about ONU's chances when NCC dropped its game against Wheaton.  Suddenly our non-conf win was less impressive.

I think ONU was a clear choice as the only real contender for a Pool C from the OAC but too many 9-1's were sitting there.  It wasn't long ago that 2 losses was an automatic "see ya later" and we were sitting here thinking there was a chance.  I am upset the season is over but not upset over the choices and logic involved.

ONU lost it's playoff spot to Otterbein THREE TIMES OVER (directly and indirectly).

1.  They dropped the ball against Otterbein in game 3.  They lose by 2 and never get their stud kicker a chance to win it.  Instead of 2nd and 1 from the OTT 37 with 46 seconds left, they fumbled away their chance to win.
2.  OTT losing to a BAD Marietta team made #1 even less arguable as a quality loss.
3.  58-7.  Combined with #2 the loss to OTT became less and less respectable.

We had our chances (much like 2005) and if business was handled we'd be playing next Saturday but alas like 2005 we will be sitting and watching as the best team not invited to the tourney.  And when Saturday rolls around and we see teams getting beat by 35+, we'll shake our heads and think of what could have and should have been (if we didn't drop the ball against OTT).

2010 here we come!  Simmons, Donley, Fleming and crew will be hungrier than ever.

Like I said, no margin for error when you're automatically starting the season with an 0-1 record.

Beyond ONU this year and in '05, how many other times has the second best team in the OAC, a team that really had a chance at making a run in the tournament, sat home when the playoffs started up?

How many more years of this before the OAC and/or NCAA realize that a change needs to be made?

The NCAC and PAC both had Pool C bids.  :-X

SaintsTheMetal

Can't believe the excluded all the OAC teams.. Such a competitive conference especially how ONU had beaten North Central Ill. i did really expect ONU or OTT to go (Ott just because of the head to head) ... too bad i think the top of the OAC can easily compete with other conference champions

PAC I can understand maybe. NCAC with two teams? Wow.

We just finished our "In the HuddLLe" interview with Dr. Joy Solomen, Chairwoman of the NCAA Division III Football Championship Committee.  I have to admit, I learned some things during the call -- and I'm sure readers will want to hear what she said about strength of schedule issues, the East as a whole and the way to avoid Mount Union at the top of the East Bracket every year.

Tune in at http://inthehuddlle.com at 7:30pm EST for the interview and a lot more.

ONU's trip to Westerville was sad on a lot of levels. I hate to think their cause is a case for computer rankings, but they were easily one of the top 15 teams in the country by the last day of the season.

NCAC gets two in? What the
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

ONU got the screws, but are we really surprised?   :-\  W&J should be a fun game to watch.

wesleydad

Hey all my mount friends.  if wesley and mount take care of business as it looks like they should we get the match up we chatted about last year over some wings semi final weekend.  I am glad that this could be the match up instead of having to play UWWW again.  a little selfish on my part since I can make the drive to mount and would not make the uwww game if wesley got that far, but I also get to hang out with all you fine mount folks semi final weekend again if it works out.  good luck and may we meet again in a couple of weeks.
