Can't believe the excluded all the OAC teams.. Such a competitive conference especially how ONU had beaten North Central Ill. i did really expect ONU or OTT to go (Ott just because of the head to head) ... too bad i think the top of the OAC can easily compete with other conference champions

Not sure I understand the huge plea for the ONU case you guys are putting up. UW-Stout was runner up in the WIAC and I haven't heard any similar complaints. I would love for either of them to get in because I know they play stronger teams than most of the teams in the country. But with two losses, you can't really complain. Not sure I really buy the "but ONU beat North Central" argument either. Who did North Central beat? They came to UWW in 07 and got hit with 59 points.  I don't see that as this great "quality victory" some of you guys do.

ONU's trip to Westerville was sad on a lot of levels. I hate to think their cause is a case for computer rankings, but they were easily one of the top 15 teams in the country by the last day of the season.

NCAC gets two in? What the

TEAMS get selected, not conferences.  The MWC is even weaker than the NCAC, but St. Norbert (BY THE CRITERIA) deserved a spot over W & J.

I'd agree that ONU (and, for that matter, NCC) would beat many teams in the tourney by 4 TDs (even including a couple of the Pool C teams), but that is not how d3 selection works (and they don't really care whether we agree or not :().

Just hoping to see another team successful from the conference in the playoffs.  I agree that UW-Stout also deserved to be there.  But this is the OAC board, not the WIAC board so I doubt you will here many on here carrying any banners for UW-Stout.  It just seems that we hear so much (from the uninformed fans) that the OAC is a cake walk and if MUC played in (insert your conference here) they woudln't dominate so much.  So when another OAC team makes the playoffs and does well, it validates the conference even more.  It was great to see JCU sent to the "EAST" a few years ago, clean house and then meet MUC in the Semis that year.

Glad we got Washington and Jefferson in the first week. I was always a fan of giving the 1 seeds a week off, but this will have more interest than most weak first round matchups. Could it hold my interest more than Randolph-Macon? We'll see.

Go back to the hole you climbed out of BP.

You just justified that NCC isn't all that great because of 2007.  I mean based on that logic why even talk about Stout because in 2007 they were a sub-.500 team.  NCC was a pre-season top-five based on who was back at the time ONU handled them.  Take a poll BP and ask any knowledgeable D-III fan to name the best team in this group: North Central, Simpson or Eureka and see what the response is.  (The last two were the programs that Stout beat in non-conf and went a combined 7-13 this season. ) And it's convenient to come in here and stir the pot and all as you so eloquently point out that you love to do but Stout wasn't considered because they didn't even end up runner-up in the WIAC.  Do your research!

You don't even know your own conference's 2nd place team!!!

That's why they don't deserve to be in the tourney and that's why they aren't in the conversation on the OAC board!

Doesn't Mount have a week off?  I'll be surprised if Mount doesn't beat W&J by 20 - 30 pts.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Like I said, no margin for error when you're automatically starting the season with an 0-1 record.

An attitude like that is precisely why JCU is in such a bad spot as a football program anyways.  CarrollStreaks, is your first name Regis by chance?

Beyond ONU this year and in '05, how many other times has the second best team in the OAC, a team that really had a chance at making a run in the tournament, sat home when the playoffs started up?

The short answer is ONU in 2004 and 2001.  Both years they finished 8-2 and were alone in second place.  In 2001, ONU lost one conf game to MUC and lost @ UWSP by a score of 14-10.  In 2004 the Polar Bears lost two OAC games and had a less impressive non-conf win over Westminster.

In 2005, ONU was not alone in second and the other team did the best with the shot they were given.

I guess it comes down to the fact that ONU has been snake-bitten almost exclusively yet I don't know a single alum or person involved in the program that wants to escape playing MUC every year for another chance to dethrone the king.  Maybe that's why ONU is consistently producing in the last decade and JCU and BW are headed the other direction.

I was trying to be kind.  I expect a score like the UMHB-W&J game from last year.
