Just to beat a dead horse, the 16th oldest Phi Beta Kappa chapter is still in the OAC.  This fine OAC institution was granted a chapter in 1860.
Name that school.  :-*

I think I did.  THat would be Marietta, who is the only OAC school with a chapter.

Otter-

Brilliant and well articulated. + imaginary karma

I'm NOT AN OTTER- STOP IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!  You guys are killing me with the yuks about me being an OTTER...  >:(

I guess I deserve it, but still...

JK--I feel your pain.   The one and only time I made a bet on the outcome of my beloved New York Giants, they lost to the 49'ers 49-0 in the playoffs.  When I wore the 49'er shirt to school the next day, everybody got on me about how quickly I changed allegience.

Apparently I missed a lot in taking a week away from looking at this place.  Wow.

Let's all sing kumbaya and agree that JCU is not where they should be, and anyone who pretends otherwise is going to get themselves into what has to be one of the stupidest pissing contests I've ever read and ONU had a shot at the playoffs and maybe they should be in...but losing to Otterbein was nobody's fault but their own (which I think everyone was agreeing to anyway, but for some reason there was a lot of shouting going on about it).

And for the record, my dad can beat up your dad.

I thought this was going to an off week.

Your mom's an astronaut.

Dang Toph, you beat me to it, lol!
glad to see you on the board again, was beginning to think the JCU crowd was going to be outnumbered by the OTTER crew, being Oldotter, JK and all!  ;D

JK, I think you need to come clean and stop denying the fact that you wish you would have attended the beautiful school in Westerville. It's ok, I know there are plenty of other Cap grads that wish they would have made that decision years ago too. Tell you what, since you've showed great support for Otterbein over the last two years (2 months combined) I'll go ahead an allow you to be an honorary fan. Welcome aboard. We (being me on here) will welcome you with open arms away from the dark side

BTW As a Purple Raider from the dark days of the 1960's, I reserve the right to make obnoxious statements about the last twenty years of Mount Union football. I, along with Rscl70, Runyr, Raider68 and a handful of others know where we came from and where (God Forbid) we may someday return. We are hopefully rebuilding track, cross country, girls basketball and wrestling programs at Mount as we speak.  Men's basketball and baseball are probably a coaching change away. Soccer, who gives a crap?

Heck, most days I'm just proud Larry Kehres remembers my name.

Glad the pre-season is over Raiders. I'll be on the south wall at noon on Saturday.

I think there's somebody at UWW that might feel this way, too!   ;)

Have you guys ever noticed how great coaches remember their player's names so well? I've always been amazed by that. Coach Perkins and Berezowitz at UWW are the same way. I've talked to others who play college ball and it's the same thing. Coaching so many kids and remembering. No wonder coaches can have such an influence. The great ones DO CARE!

With things being being a little slow since no W&J posters (if there are any) are bold enough to show up this week, what's everyone's guess on the All-OAC selections when they're published this Monday?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Except in this case Larry was a freshman and I was a sophomore and had already decided to run on a great Mount Union track team instead of playing on an awful Mt Union football team. I guess he s/b lucky I remember his name, yuk, yuk

I'm sure there's not a kid I ever coached I wouldn't remember, except perhaps the t-ball kids

Wow, you knew LK before he was...well, LK! I guess he decided he was going to make sure Mt. Union's football team wasn't going to remain awful! I know there may not be any LK's out there, but it would seem like some of the schools that have been down awhile could find someone to at least bring them back to respectability.

well seeing as how last year there were 16 on offense and 15 on defense ill throw some names out there...

Oline- Nitz at center, Guerrero at tackle, Benchic ONU, Scarl from BW( good ol country boy) and its a toss up for the last spot

Quarterback- Has to be Rocco

Running Back- Donley from ONU, Coy from OTT, and I'll throw Lamar Hunter in there who led the conference in Yards per game on arguably the worst team in the OAC (cough cough Otterbein)

Receivers- Cecil, Frank Ross from JCU and Preston from Heidelberg(kids such a great athlete)

Dline- Millings, Herbert and Williamson could all get first team so ill name five, Bevington from JCU and Horn from ONU who was completely unblockable in the game I saw

Lb's- Martin from wilm (123 tackles is legit), Medley from Wilm, and third is a toss up ( every mount backer is good they just dont have the stats because they are never on the field and done by halftime)

Db's- McClain (Mount), Cigas (JCU), Stewart (mount), Woodfork(OTT) best shut down corner I've seen at this level in a while, Dugan from BW could get it also with 6 picks

Kicker- Carpenter had the most points but I'm going to go with the freshman from JCU Marchese who was a backup to start the year and came in and made 11/12 field goals

Punter- JCU Roshong- they usually go by average for this one and he average 40 yards on 45 punts

reality check

I'll take a stab at the easier positions.  O-Line is trickiest since there are no stats to base opinion on.

My All-OAC:

WR: Cecil Shorts (MUC), Ryan Rowley (OTT), Mike Preston (HEID), Frank Ross (JCU)
TE: Judd Harold (MUC)
C: Mike Nitz (MUC)
OL: Andrew Benchic (ONU), Brett Scarl (BW), Rick Ingold (ONU), Caleb Crowl (MUC)
QB: Kurt Rocco (MUC)
RB: Brent Donley (ONU), Colton Coy (OTT), Dom D'Andrea (CAP), Lamar Hunter (HEID)
K: Jake Heaphy (ONU)

DL: Matt Grieves (HEID), Josh Horn (ONU), Ken Bevington (JCU), James Herbert (MUC), Joe Millings (MUC)
LB: Bryce Martin (WILM), Sam Jacobs (CAP), Judd Lutz (MUC), Gabe Washington (ONU)
DB: Ronnie Smith (CAP), Alex Robbins (BW), Roger Stewart (MUC), Chad Woodfork (OTT)
P: Jay Carpenter (MUC)

Some tough calls but looking back at last year there were 5 WR's and 3 RB's but this year the fifth best WR is way below the 4th RB IMO.  Yeah maybe I cheated a little.  I think Heaphy and Carpenter are the top two kickers and could easily flip-flop.

By School: MUC-9, ONU-6, OTT-3, CAP-3, HEID-3, JCU-3, BW-2, WILM-1

Thoughts?
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

Squad looks pretty good. Being an OC fan, I think finishing second place in the conference will get more than 3 guys on the first team, though. We'll see

Thanks for the shout out! ;D

Remember the key to LK's success was his clean cleats! ::)

Wow, it seems like many of the MUC fans think they have a bye week.  Not to much talk about the game. Talking about post season honors. If this was UWW, there would be a lot of chatter about how MUC as going to do. Maybe LK will rest the starters and play his JV guys.

This game has a lot of interesting facts with W&J's Mount Union ties. Caponi, Stickley, Sirianni... I think these three keep it a lot closer than everyone thinks. Do not know if W&J's offense is capable of putting up enough points to pull off an upset but if turnovers are minimized could me interesting.

So, now that a W&J supporter is out, watch the pirahanas prey? I will say this much Mount is playing very well at the end of the season.

Since you never stated any variation of "MUC has never seen ___", I think they'll give you a pass (maybe even +k for daring to speak up at all!) ;D
