After a cold and rainy day in Mount Union Stadium a few years back, I don't think any of us smug Muc'ers would ever again put it past one of Larry's boys putting one in his face. Dean Paul did it, it's only a matter of time till Mike Hallet does it or Siriani. Personally, I think Hallet will get it done first only because he gets more chances.

Most of us already saw three hours of Mount -W&J Scrimmage. Enough said

I'd agree that the Cardinals should have more than 3 but after looking at the statistics and who else is out there I can't figure out after Coy and Rowley who would get an award besides another O-Lineman on the offense.  Defensively, after Woodfork, there's a big drop-off amongst Cardinal defenders when compared to the rest of the league.  OTT's leading tackler is 14th in the OAC in total tackles.  The leading sacker on OTT has 6 and only 25 total tackles on the year and I just don't see two DB's getting all OAC honors because really who would you bump to give them that spot?

I know. I'm not 100% sure who else I would put up there either. I figured if anything it would be an O lineman. The offense lead the conference in rushing all year. One of the big guys will get some credit for that. I just can't see them only getting three guys. Who knows though, maybe the conference is still pissed at us about the Marietta loss and won't put any guys on the first team. Maybe that's our punishment for keeping a second team from the OAC out of the playoffs

Very funny.  +k

I agree with you that Ottebein deserves to have a lineman or 2 on the All-OAC team.  You don't run the ball as well as they did without some talent up front.

I'm curious to see who makes it from Mount because they haven't been offensively as dominant as in the past.  The Mount O-line has been solid, but not impressive.  The OAC's best RB's are playing in Tiffin, Westerville and Ada, not Alliance.  Here's what I'd have from Mount on the All-OAC team:

OFFENSE
Rocco = 1st Team QB
Shorts = 1st team WR
Mike  Nitz = 2nd team C - good enough to be 1st but has been injured a bit
James Bird = 2nd team
Petruziello = Honorable Mention WR

Other offensive guys of note.
Kyle Miller is talented enough to be the 1st team TE, but doesn't have the stats with MUC spreading the ball around and splitting time with Judd Harrold.  Maybe honorable mention?
Caleb Crowl and Sam Guerrero might be HM due to senior starters on the OAC's best offense?

DEFENSE:
Joe Millings = 1st team DE - likely the winner of the OAC's best DL award
Matt Williamson = 1st team DT
James Hebert = was 1st team DE based on last year's numbers, but should be 2nd team based on this season's play
Judd Lutz = should be 1st team LB but I don't know if they give it to a first year starter.  2nd team at least.
Sam Kershaw = 2nd team LB.  Possibly HM due to injury costing him some playing time
Roger Stewart = was 1st team FS last year, but I think he should fall to 2nd or HM because of inconsistent tackling
Drew McClain = 1st team SS - consistent playmaker and run stopper
Alex Ferrara = Honorable mention FS

Other defensive guys:
Chaz Jordan and Ryan Renbarger might be in the running for honorable mention too.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I agree that Stewart should drop off first team...
too bad no special teams All-OAC...I vote for Driskill...

Wow, it seems like many of the MUC fans think they have a bye week.  Not to much talk about the game. Talking about post season honors. If this was UWW, there would be a lot of chatter about how MUC as going to do. Maybe LK will rest the starters and play his JV guys.

This game has a lot of interesting facts with W&J's Mount Union ties. Caponi, Stickley, Sirianni... I think these three keep it a lot closer than everyone thinks. Do not know if W&J's offense is capable of putting up enough points to pull off an upset but if turnovers are minimized could me interesting.

So, now that a W&J supporter is out, watch the pirahanas prey? I will say this much Mount is playing very well at the end of the season.

I don't know if Mount fans think they have a bye week...I think they all realize the team is actually going to have to show up and play.  ;D  And you're right, if Mount was playing UWW people would be talking much more about the match up.  W&J and UWW are worlds apart as football programs.  Yes, they are both in the playoffs often...but that's where the similarities end.

Best of luck to the Presidents.  They'll need it.

You have to have someone from your opponent show up on the board to have a discussion....There does not seem to be anyone from W & J who wants to join in. Sure if it were MUC and WW we would have all types of people here jawing there stuff. HMMMMM I wonder who that might be? ;)

I think LK and the Raiders are not taking W & J lightly besides being the playoffs the brangin' rights parameters are huge and these teams did not like each other in the fall scrimage

I don't think that LK and the Raiders are taking W & J lightly. Besides some real bragin' rights implications here these teams do not like each other based on the scrimmage I saw in August. This will give them both a chance to show there stuff on the field without any Red Jerseys to contend with. Although I am not sure Mount could see the red jersey as anything else but a target. ;D

Cecil was not playing in the scrimmage in August and this is not the same Curt Rocco we saw then either.
His happy feet seem to have carried him on pretty far so far and I heard he received an invitation to the 2010 filming of Dancing with the Stars! :o

With things being being a little slow since no W&J posters (if there are any) are bold enough to show up this week, what's everyone's guess on the All-OAC selections when they're published this Monday?

AS far as Capital guys, I don't know.  Got to think D'Andrea (1000+ yards) , DB Smith (leader in passes defensed- but he missed a few games early in the season), and LB Jacobs (leader in tackles) like Reality mentioned are the prime candidates for 1st team spots.

I think Marty Assmann is probably the 2nd best QB in the conference, but he'll probably not get anything more than HM.  I think Simmons from ONU prob gets the 2nd team QB nod because of the head-to-head win.  I think among the top QB's (Rocco, Assmann, Simmons, Schlosser) that Schlosser from OTT gets left out, mostly because he is only a soph.

I think for some 2nd team and HM selections from Cap you could look at some of the OL- Koblinski probably, Dutcher and Giblin maybe.  Also think that maybe Evan Blake will be named as a WR.  Ancona and White are possibilities out there as well, although White disappointed me a little in not living up to what I thought was huge Howes/ Kraft- like potential.

On Defense for 2nd and HM, I think Matt Heagan as a LB, and Pickens as a DB are probables.  DB Drew Stimmel and DL Brian Shelton are maybes in my mind.  There are two sophs for Cap on D that I think deserve mention, but will probably get left off- OLB Troy Spiker and DE Dan Frankart.

FWIW...

Regarding all OAC,

I would suggest Kyle Miller, he has 8 TD's for 17 receptions. What other tight ends are out there that are better than Miller and/or Harrold? Their
number of receptions will probably hurt their ranking.

Toph,

I've read your posts for years, often agree.  After your comments, below, I noticed your sig/tag line for the first time:

Regarding W & J this Saturday:

Coach Kehres will aproach this game like playing another OAC team each year. Yes, they see each other each year, but in a scrimmage format.

Although similiar teams, the Raiders have taken them game up several
levels especially Kurt Rocco. This game could be close at first, but I do
not think W & J will be able to handle Mount's D. Big plays for the Raiders
will make it very difficult for W & J to stay in the game after the first quarter
plus. Weather is cloudy with a high in the low 50's. Not sure about the wind, but it will not Rocco!

Trust me... the impressive part of this team is the defense.  They held TMC to a season low in rushing yardage from their 4-2-5.   I really feel that if MUC gets off to their typical fast start --- which is likely because W&J has never played at MUC in the postseason (the atmosphere is impressive), they will win going away.  However --- this could be closer than some of you guys think, all depends on how W&J approaches the aerial game of MUC.  With an average season running the ball, I don't think MUC will be able to consistently run on W&J.

UNLESS:  MUC has a "Cecil Cat" Package they are going to debut --- as they'll see on film, W&J is susceptible to the spread option.
