ONU isn't the ony team. I think NCC, OTT, at least 2 other WIAC teams and probably an additional CCIW team or two would beat close to half the teams in the field. That's not the goal of the torunament and never will be though.

While I knew the UWW game would be a scrimmage, I thought like many others that W & J would bring something. The assessment that they would
not beat an ONU, Cap or OTT is correct or even a few other OAC teams.

Today had some surprizes and some not:

1. Mount looked and played great, very efficient, few penalties, just a
dominating day on both sides of the ball.

2. Not sure we know how good or strong Montclair State is, maybe after
    further research.

3. Delaware Valley is likely to come to Alliance, big win for them.

4. Wesley poured it on!

5. Lil' Giants just fell short, very competitive game!

6. Trine came back big over CRU, which most everyone did not expect, but
Witt will be tough. Took care of Mt. St. J, Will they see UWW later?

7. Thought St. John's would at least win the in the first round, ouch!

8. St. Thomas, it appears were really the top team in the MIAA, they move
    on, not STJ.

9. MHB now looks like a 1 win team, with Linfield looking strong.

Anyone else participating in the D3Football.com Pick'em Bracket contest?

I went to check my results and saw some oddities (not just with my picks either).   ;)

For Example:
1.  I picked IWU over Wabash, IWU won, but IWU is crossed out and gray on my results.
2.  I picked St. Thomas to win, they are crossed out and gray.
3.  I picked St. Johns and they lost but they are still shown as the winner.
4.  I picked Thomas Moore and Wesley to win in Rounds 1 and 2, but they are both shown in in Quarterfinal matchup, but both are crossed out and gray.
5.  I picked Linfield to play UWW and Wesley to play MUC in the Semis and both Linfield and Wesley of them are shown as crossed out and Gray in the Semis but they both won in Round 1.

Anyone else notice any oddities?

I noticed the same things k'dad when I registered...schools were already crossed off before the games were played.

I suspect:

1) the new DIII Czar, responsible for the "odd" bracket; and,
2) continuing on that success, is correcting inequities on the playing field?

Congratulations to the Purple Raiders on their victory. It sounds like it was a little easier than some MUC fans expected.  Truthfully, the UWW win really proved nothing. The physical mismatch was just too prominent to show much. At least the execution was good and, as far as I know, there were no serious injuries. Scoring 70 points is one thing. Scoring 70 while throwing only 13 passes, 1 in the second half is almost ridiculous.

WORTHLESS STATISTIC AWARD:

TIME OF POSSESSION:
Lakeland 30:32
UWW      29:28

MYSTERY AWARD:
How exactly do you possess the ball for 30:32 while getting 19 fewer first downs than your opponent (26-7)?

YUP, we had the same issues. My son -- the 13-year-old that is Seventies bane -- even re-registered.

I now realize that the D3 bracket managers had been watching "Flash Forward", saw who had actually won the games, and tried to force the rest of us into the correct decisions.

I should win 32.6% of the prizes, including the car.  [Real Genius reference for you youngsters!]

Maybe Lakeland and W&J should play a game of keep-away. On, say, December 19th?  ;D

Or a game of field position, 3 plays punt, other team 3 plays and punt.

Honestly the first 6 exchanges consisted of 3 and out/punt for W&J, followed by a TD drive of never more than 8 plays 41-0

Except for the senior Muskie player who broke his leg in two places. Tough way to end a college career.  Hope he is alright tonight.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

hscoach, how are you doing?  I borrowed your quote about easily offended people this morning because it seems that I offended someone from ncwc when I described them as mediocre and not very good.  I can give some insight into your next opponent, monclair state.  they were not very good when I saw them get beat by wilkes in week one.  I was not impressed by either side of the ball.  They are not very big or fast and unless they have improved greatly will not likely be much of a challenge.  I have also seem Delval play 3 times this year and I will give some insight on them if both mount and delval win this weekend.  good luck this week and I may be seeing you guys in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the compliment, we like being overlooked. A lot of things have changed since the Wilkes game. Remember what happened in your place a few years ago. ;)
