Congrats to JCU's Doug Phillips for making it as one of the finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy.

Check that...

Congrats to JCU's Doug Phillips for making it as one of the runner-ups to Brett Elliott for the Gagliardi Trophy.

Reality Check

You were pretty close on the OAC awards, but I have to disagree with the Tressel award.  Mounts's Watson and ONU's Midlam, both seniors, were ranked 3rd in the nation in Ints and led the OAC.  ONU's Midlam led the OAC 2 years in a row, tied with K.Hausler last year, and looking at their stats Midlam had 16 Ints to Hausler's 13 over the last 2 years, tackles were pretty close.  Not taking anything away from Hausler, but from what I have heard, he's coming back next year and you would've thought the coaches would have selected a senior.

e_lee:  Why are you even debating this?  Come on, man!  Regardless of your ties to the bride and groom, they'll be at each others throats before the decade is out and onto the spouse #2 by then.  So since Capital in the playoffs is a "once every 18 years" experience, ditch the wedding and GO CAP! ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I have a wedding to go to on Saturday.  It starts at 6:30 pm Saturday night in Ashtabula County, Ohio.  Its a Catholic wedding so I don't expect the reception to start til 8:30 at the earliest.  Is it acceptable for me to go to the Cap-Wabash game, which should end about 4ish and drive back to Ashtabula, about a  6 hour drive, and get to the reception at 10 pm?

Bexley to Ashtabula is 200 miles.  Map Quest shows it as 3 hours 17 minutes.  If you cant do it in 3 hours flat then you should turn in your man card.  Game over at 3, drive for 3 hours you can actually make the wedding if you want.

Although you might think they put Kraft in as a TE only to get the award you are sadly mistaken. His lines up in the position and blocks on running plays and had caught most of his TD's from the position I would say that makes him a TE. I sounds like sour grapes to me.

Go Crusaders!!!!!

Cap99-
I have nothing to be bitter about, I just simply thought it was strange when RC brought up the question of whether Kraft was a TE or a WR.  I think if they felt he should have been frist team, they should have just listed him as a fourth first team receiver and not have a first team tight end.  You say he lines up at tight end occasionally, but so did Howes a few times.  So why not conisder him a tight end as well.  Tight ends and running backs line up as receivers on occasion all the time, but that doesn't make them a receiver, its just using personel in a different formation.  Anyway, I just thought it was strange to see him listed as a tight end when you hadn't seen him listed that way all season.  I think they should have pushed for their defensive coordinator as co-assistant coordinator of the year, he definetly turned a lot of heads with that defense this year.  Overall, I think Capital definetly got the good end of the deal with pretty much all of their all-conference selections, except they might be dissapointed with Rocky as only a second teamer.

Also, did O'reilly go down with an injury late in the game this past weekend?  if so, what is his status?

Good luck to both OAC schools this weekend, would love to be able to see the two collide once again in Alliance.

I understand what you are saying. He is listed as a WR in the program and everywhere else but for the most part I feel he was playing TE. As for O'Reilly he was not hurt but I feel they pulled him because of fumbles on his first two carries. Mulky can in and did such a good job I think thry wanted to stick with him alothough they brought O'Reilly back in when we got down to the goal line.

Go Crusaders!!!!!!!

Game's not in Bexley.

ELee, the point was made earlier, game is at noon, should be over by 3. That gets you to the reception around 9.

I think you can do both.

E_Lee,

I'm with everyone else, although that is a lot of driving for you... SC to Crawfordsville to Ashtabula.  I don't envy you one bit.

However, if Cap doesn't win this week will you forgive yourself for missing both playoff games?  Those of us, like you and I, who suffered through the bad years have been waiting for this for a while.  I know I will be there this weekend.  I was pretty upset that I couldn't make it last weekend.  Had they lost I would have been really disappointed.  You never know when they might get back into the playoffs.

See you in Crawfordsville.

The rest of you guys too.  Any plans on meeting anywhere before the game?

e_lee

seventies raider,
If I didn't make the Cap game I was actually conisdering the Thiel-Bridgewater game as Thiel's QB spent some time at Cap and I knew him before from HS.

Everyone else, thanks for the insight.  They are all valid points that everyone is making.  I just wish Albion had been able to get the win so Cap could host.

SaintsFAN,

I wish you hadn't made such salient points.  :(

Still unsure as what I should do.  Probably a decsision that will be made Friday morning or afternoon.

JK,

The driving scenario will actually be South Carolina to Ashtabula to Crawfordsville to Ashtabula to South Carolina.  That's a lot of miles.

Can any of you give more insight on the 70-0 ass whipping MUC administered in week 3?  That score really seems out of place with the rest of John Carroll's results against the other top OAC teams. (they beat ONU and played well vs. Capital)  They were even being considered a possible pool C team until they bit it against BW in the last week.

I see in the writeup that there were 6 interceptions, but most of Mount's drives were of fairly decent length.  Was this really just a case of a very bad day for JCU and a great passing day by Jorris?

What would you expect as a result if these two teams played again?

Classic match up on both sides of the ball!!!

E Lee,

Anybody who has a wedding during football season forfeits all rights of having the people show up whom they have invited.

If the person who is getting the ball'n chain deal done on Saturday played football with you, then under no circumstances should he be upset if you miss his wedding.  He should fully understand the situation.  If he doesn't, he isn't a true friend anyway.

If anybody else gives you any grief (his family, friends, etc), then you tell them that he shouldn't have gotten married during football season.

Take myself for example.  I am gett'n married on New Year's Eve.  If somebody doesn' t show up because they are going to a bowl game, then I have no problem with that.  And just for the record, the ONLY reason I agreed to a New Years Wedding is for two reasons:  (1) The bowl games are not the next day.  There are on Monday and we pushed our Honeymoon off until all bowl games are over, and..(2) She agreed that our anniversary every year would be to a different bowl game.

RP,
You have just gained my upmost respect! Now that is a man laying down the law! Skeeter....You better agree with this one buddy! You've trained your sister well! Great idea on the bowl game scenario. It would be even better if you got her to pay for it!lol....Are you going to the game this weekend?

rp

Tdubs,

Yes I will be at the game.
