Please excuse this non-DIII post, but how amazing is Faith Hill in the SNF intro video. Good Lord. if only that kinda "talent" would exist at the Wing Warehouse, I would make the trip!

Parents of players at Mount Union, for the most part, sit in the same section under the covered stands. I believe they are at the north end, not the last section, but the second last. You can always tell, because looking across the field in the middle of the fourth quarter during the regular season in a game that was over at halftime, that is the only section still full of people.

I think I have confirmation here that SaintFAN is buying all of the drinks this Friday at Wing Warehouse--does anybody else not read it that way??

OK, but if I have more than three Cokes I'll never make it  home

BTW I was at my usual sport against the south wall. I got witnesses

Visitors to Alliance should go to the Naborhood, a bar across the street from the other place.  The food is much, much better and there are pix of all the national championship teams on the wall. The people at the "Hood" are long time fans of the Raiders, not newly seated bandwagon jumpers.

I'm talking about Sam and Jeff, the long time owners who support all Mount Union athletic teams, including the womens teams, not the patrons.

Raider68,

I was at the game saturday and lets get one thing straight. This isnt the same dominating no mistake football team of the old. Several passes I couldnt believe the QB threw, and several fumbles that if a good team could have capitlized on. That game on saturday would have been much closer than the score indicated. I saw the big differences as the following:

Mount capitolized on all Albright turnovers.
Mount turned it over 5 times and only 3 points were scored by Albright.
Mount team speed and athleticism across all positions makes them a complete team.

They dont have huge size on either sides of the ball but their team speed is incredible. That lead to touchdown passes to WR #9 and Shorts.

PS the fans, I thought the fans were quite annoying. Argueing calls that were clearly fouls or no calls. Parents chanting start the bus, and etc. Clearly these are fans who are used to seeing big blow outs and calls going their way. Bottom line is if Mount plays like that against a team who can match them speed for speed. THey will not be able to blow out the team.

Cartel:  Thankfully Hammer and his Merry Band of Idiots are NOT parents of any Mount players.  Just local drunks.

I wish we could kick out some of the idiots that are "fans" of the Raiders.  A few of them are small town, small minded, small skilled individuals who think of themselves as "tough guys" vicariously through the MUC football teams.  They start the stupid chants--they cause the majority of the problems with the fans of the opposition.

As with any school we get a few drunk idiot students (even with noon starts) but the majority of the idiots in the stands are connected to one former Alliance High School physics teacher who calls himself "the #1 Raiders fan".  Most of us MUC fans who post on these boards would just as soon see him and his "merry band" of idiots banned from the stadium permanently.

Most of us are proud and maybe (?) even a little bit cocky about MUC's chances and success--but we are courteous and generally nice people who respect each of our opponents (except maybe Wilmington, and years ago, Hiram) and hope from week to week that there will be a clean, good game.

We want a good, clean game this week--we hope (and are pretty confident) that the Raiders will win--but, if they do lose, we will acknowledge that we were beaten fairly and squarely and not resort to name calling and blaming the refs.

Safe travels to all coming to Alliance this weekend.  We invite MUC fans and Wesley fans to The Wing Warehouse Friday evening starting around 7:00 for some wings, beverages, and chest thumping (and checking out whatever local "talent" is in attendance).  I know that Wesleydad has been with us before--I, and the rest of the real fans, look forward to meeting many more Wesley fans this weekend.

Peace!

Most of us all agree that the Mount-Albright game was not a example of the Raiders at their best. It has not happen in years, that the Raiders had that many turnovers, but also took advantage of the other teams miscues. The Raider's turnover ratio over the 13 games is on par with many of the other great MUC teams.

It is not a question of whether the 2009 team is much better or worse than
other Mount teams, but when you lose to graduation two stars from the prior year and make the semi-finals again, the program is still doing what
it needs to be playing in December.

The offense scheme is based upon what the opportunites are available, so
this year the emphasis has been more passing with great receivers while
the running  game re-establishes itself in the (post-Kmic era). The stats for each game bare that out.

Unlike prior Mount teams, speed and agility have taken a higher priority than size. Several of the opponents have been larger, but no one has been quicker to the ball and that will remain for the next game(s). The change in approach happened after 2003.

No question the game with Wesley will be a good one.

Here's a nice piece on one of Jay Sirrianni's kids.  Jay has built a dynasty in WNY, with back-to-back class C state championships and a 26-game win streak.

that's right Ric, Section 6 is mostly parents of the players and we have had tickets there for the past few years. They are a terrific bunch, all the excitement you could expect from parents of a player or even a cheerleader. But they also respect the game and opponents, sure they give an occasional boo on a bad call, but not the typical BS heard from under the press box from the east stands. I love sitting on either side in the stadium as there truly isn't that bad a seat anywhere, but as long as there are a few that love to continue to carry on the way they do, most people will distance themselves from them as some already have. Being the perennial power the Raiders have become, winning championships and titles as the have, you would think some people would mature to the point of "we've been here before" and not act like a bunch of teens that found their first 12-pack!  ::)

Not to make excuses, but one of those 'fumbles" by Mount was one of the best ball strips I've seen in D3. LK even commented on it in the post game. I do like the acceleration that Zac Lemmon has. Just gotta hang on a little tighter

Ok, so Hammer and his friends are a little out there. But as i have seen they root the Raiders on harder than anyone else!
Evidentally, When #25 dropped the F Bomb last week towards the fans that was ok, or for the Coach from Montclair drop the F bomb with kids in the stands that was ok, or the Kid from W-J that Suckerd Punched a MUC fan thats ok.
My point is i do not hear any foul language coming from those guys that are considered drunk fans or antagonize fans from the visiting team.Against Montclair the cheered Muccaw being powerlifted by a huge fan from Montclair....All in fun i believe.
C'mon people, we all love our Raiders. This Saturday we are going to need to support them as much as we can because this is going to be a tough tough game.

PurpleSuit

just my opinion, but I think that the fans should be less of an issue of the boards than in recent weeks.  Whether its Montclair State's fans going all Jersey Shore, or Hammer and the gang not sitting on their hands like the majority of Mount regulars...its not a big issue.  How about more talk about the game between the lines?

WesleyDad,

If Wesley has any type of real speed as you have stated they will give mount a game. It seemed as if Mount's run game isn't as nearly as good as its passing game. I havent followed them all year and I am not aware of their year long stat's either. However, their run game was not the focal point of the offense it was passing. MUC didnt seem that strong of a running team. When the score was 48-3 MUC kept passing and put on another TD before the final seconds ticked 0. THe first teamers played all three quarters, and all but two possesions in the fourth. They will try to put up as many points as possible. What Wesley will see on films is crazy speed at their reciever and DB positions. Shorts is an all american and potential draft pick, but #9 made the big plays. QB made some bad throws and will take chances. Albright Defense line was not huge but was able to get pressure on MUC's QB all game and even manage a few sacks.

MUC's Special teams Place kicker had trouble kicking ball down to the 10 yard line. THere was a wind on Saturday but this happened at both 30 yard lines. Place kicker did miss extra point and has field goal kicking range from 30 yard line and in. Punter only was out a couple times and had some good punts.

MUC's defensive ends are sick. Number 9 and 11 are both quick and strong. THey will give your tackles fits all game. Albright was able to move the ball but the MUC defense would eventually force a turnover or a stop. MUC will setup in a defensive front and after the Oline came to the ball the front 3 or 4 would adjust. They contantly stunt and blitz from the tackle positions. Albright hurt MUC by running a draws up the middle with a RB. WHen they ran the two minute offense it worked extremely well as they moved the ball with ease on Mount. I highly reccomend quick offensive strikes, two step drops, shovel pass up the middle, RB up the gut, and no huddle offense at times to throw a wrench into the play selection for MUC.

MUC's DB's were always in the right place at the right time. Quick, positioned and coached very well. THese guys will be tough to beat come saturday. THeir were lots of shots taken on the corners, and they came through in the clutch every time. Swatting the ball away at the last second, crunching hits, Interceptions, and never being beat deep.

I sort of wonder if this was the first time you saw Mount this year?  And, I know that Mount didnt play their A game, but reading that post one would assume it was a close game.

On your point about the running game:  you are correct the russhing attack this season is about 50 yards per game less than last.  But 200+ a game isnt so bad

and you do know that the last TD was a defensive TD with over 3 min to go, right?

Hey, I like "the Hood" and its owners as well.  I may go over there after the game. I would also point out, though, that the WWarehouse in Alliance is franchised by a couple of MUC grads so they are not exactly "newly seated bandwagon jumpers"--Oh, and I like their wings too!!

Agree Seventies,

Zac Lemmon has many more big games to come for the Raiders, let's see if he starts them in the next two weeks!

How would it be read that way??

The reason I like WWarehouse and not the Hood is simple.  Doeder has been in the Hood a few times.  I don't care where we go ---- just let me know if anything changes before Friday night.  I'm renting a car on Thursday so I don't have any issues this year from Alliance being inside of the Arctic Circle.
