If you venture into the students seats in the south end zone, you get what you get. I figure I have no room to complain about drunken college kids. ;) (Insert your favorite "Drank Canada Dry" joke here"

But the old local drunks and I on the south wall mostly behave ourselves. (Although Semifinal week, all bets are off.) I paid the same amount as everybody else so I'll say what I please. Guarantee I'll do it sober though.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Man, do I disagree with that.....the price of a ticket does not guarantee you the right to demean players, coaches, officials, etc.  I have done "crowd control" at toooooo many h.s. games.  The "adults" are usually worse than the students.

Enough of the Fans dicussions.

Everyone is talkign about Cecil Shorts as a possible draft pick this year. If not drafted potentially getting picked up just like Garcon did. Can we at all compare Garcon and Shorts as seniors? Does CC realy have the talent to be at the next level?

Regarding the Cecil Shorts comparison to Pierre Garcon. a couple points.

1. For their senior years, the stats are comparable and both have shown
    to be game breakers.

2. Physically, Pierre is 6'0" and 200, Cecil is 6'1" 190, Cecil is a little faster
( Track speed) while Pierre has quicker acceleration.

3. Both have great hands, but Pierre is a fierce blocker and more phyical.
This caught the attention of the pros, beside his speed and hands.

Cecil will get a look by the pros or maybe be drafted. His skills has a QB and
great athlete will help him. IMHO, one of the most important points is that Pierre may have opened more doors for players such Cecil and other D3 high potentials. Being part of a great program like Mount Union helps as well!

Garcon WAS drafted (2008 6th Round), he was not a FA pickup.

It is my understanding CS has one more year of eligibility if he chooses to use it. I sure hop he does.

How?

Unless he was hurt at some point in his career in the first 1/3 of the season (3.5 games, roughly, is what I was told the NCAA uses as the cut-off, so not "exactly" 1/3 of the season) and the school has the records and proper paperwork to back it up, then he would have exhausted his eligibility.

Just because he didn't play his frosh year doesn't mean he automatically has "an extra year."  There are no redshirts in D3, except for medical ones as I outlined above.  Even if a kid doesn't play a down on Varisty one season, if they are carried on the team's roster for the year, it is considered a year played in D3 (unlike D1).

Just a guess, but maybe he didn't play football his Fr. year.  Maybe he just ran Track and started playing FB his Soph year.  No first hand knowledge here though.

reality check

The whole comparison of players thing is a bit moot.  Cecil and Pierre are different heights and weights depending on the day of the week or which way the wind is blowing.  All we know is that the NFL said Garcon was 6'0" and 209 lbs at the combine while MUC listed him as 6'1", 205 during the playoffs.  Cecil was listed at 6'0" and 180 as a junior by MUC and 6'2", 195 as a SR.

How can anyone say who has better acceleration and top speed when they aren't racing head to head today?  I will agree that Pierre's success has opened the door for Shorts.  I would expect him to get a look at the combine at the very least.  One thing you can compare is productivity and Shorts' career 51 TD's (so far through three years of play) looks pretty good when compared to Garcon's 64 total TD's in 4 years.

I also heard that Cecil could come back next year.  Not sure the details behind that, but just saying that I heard it too.

He's listed as a Fr. on the 06 roster (06,07,08,09).  I have no idea if he was hurt at some point in his career...

Cleveland Cartel,

I have sat in Section 13 for a number of years and resent your comment that it's the worst. Thankfully we don't sit on our a** all game and act like it's a tea party. And the fans most of you talk about do not drop F-bombs or anything of that nature. They simply extend their right to have fun.

Where is the "right to have fun" listed in the Constitution...and does it include being middle aged and wearing a purple wig?  Does it also include unoriginal, unfunny taunts?
