e_lee:  Why are you even debating this?  Come on, man!  Regardless of your ties to the bride and groom, they'll be at each others throats before the decade is out and onto the spouse #2 by then.  So since Capital in the playoffs is a "once every 18 years" experience, ditch the wedding and GO CAP! ;D

Hilarious and true....my wedding was before football season started (Aug 8th).  I set it like that purposely because none of my extended family would have made it had it been football season.

Since it is thanksgiving we should share what we are thankful for.

I am thankful for the Capital Crusaders and their great season.  I am proud to say that I went there.

P.S. and thankful for Marvin Lewis.

to answer the question regarding the Mount/John Carroll game...I have been a Mountie since we lost 5 or six a season, all the time..have not missed many games...
I have not seen a QB as hot as Jorris, an offensive and defensive line so overwhelming, and a team as flat as JCU was on that evening...all at the same time
That combination was as dominant a performance as I have seen...
I think it was 42-0 at half (forgive if wrong, I'm old)
The John Carroll fans were stunned, but the Raider fans weren't far behind on the stun-meter...
I have never seen a JCU team as poor as that night..

Does your fiancee have an unmarried sister?

I'm so ashamed. :-[ I gave my wife total control on setting the wedding date. She went through about 4 different dates (you know scheduling the church, the restaurant, etc.) and finally settled on October 15. Anyone know what October 15, 1988 is famous for?

1. Notre Dame - Miami for the Number 1 ranking.
2.  First game of the World Series.  You know, the one where Kirk Gibson hits the HR off Dennis Eckersley?

So, and this is the truth, before the ceremony is over, my dad disappears.  Just walks out. Where did he go? To the limo to watch the end of the game. Then, we have to do the receiving line thing. My dad comes up to me. I think he's going to tell me something interesting and profound. I guess so. He tells me Notre Dame won and the score. And my wife wants to know what he said to me. Uh, I'll tell you later.  :D

The real question is: where did you get those stats from. Actually I tend to agree that this years OAC QB selections seem to have little to do with how they performed.

B4 Try putting the text between the two moves. Or type the sentence, highlight it and click on the move tab.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

My first response is that no one votes based on just part of the season.  You cannot be selective when you look at the stats and pick 4 games.  It's not accurate.  If you want to state your case for Jorris and be selective with the stats, why stop at 4 games?  Why not just show his stat line against JCU?  If it were fair to pick and choose stats what would Jorris' stats look like without the amazing performance against JCU?!?

69 - 105 -  5   1183  11  (the four game stat line you chose)
45 -   78 -  5    761   4   (take away the JCU game, the stat line for the three games)

A 4-5 TD-INT ratio doesn't look nearly as nice as a 11-4 ratio now does it?!?

I said this when I guessed a couple weeks ago that even though Jorris' numbers are very good, he was competing not only against Pentello, Phillips and Quirk; he was also competing against Smeck, Ballard, Borchert, etc..

In my opinion Phillips got what he deserved, the first team nod.  The only thing I think they missed the boat on is that Jorris should have at least made honorable mention along with Quirk and Stelzer.

    3 Michael Jorris, Mount Union            11 279  185   9  2885  28    179.8

8  Adam Quirk, Ohio Northern              10 224  138   6  2107  23    169.1

14  Doug Phillips, John Carroll            10 290  184  11  2543  25    158.0

   31  Rocky Pentello, Capital                11 370  245  10  2688  24    143.2

These are their rankings( first #)     with stats and QB eff.  These are from NCAA.  My point is I find it difficult to belive the other QB's had better years.  Take away each QB best game and see what you get.  To take away the John Carroll game because he did so well is somewhat confusing.  Was not JC a good team.  Did they not beat ON.  Should we not count that game for Doug b/cOhio Norh was in a fog?

The point I was making was that you can not be selective with the stats.  If you were to be selective I could go a step further and take away his best game and he looks pedestrian at best.  It is not unusual to take away the best and worst games when determining a player's overall performance across the board either.  If you take away Jorris' days against ONU and JCU you get a better picture in my opinion of how he played this year.  You can do that for all four of them if you like.

Again, I think Jorris was competing against not only the other three but the performances of Raider signal callers in the past and you would be hard-pressed in a room full of Purple faithful to find one that says Jorris' year this year stands out to them as an above average year for a Purple Raider QB despite his good numbers.  Those coaches/SID's (not sure who votes on all-OAC), I am sure, think much the same way.  And when push comes to shove the only statistic that often needs to be looked at when discussing all-OAC is this one: Class.  Phillips is a senior.  We can all argue about who deserves next year's first-team award when Pentello, Jorris, and Quirk are all seniors.
