Results for the semi-finals have been posted.  Spread for Stagg will be up on Sunday.

I was kind of shocked how bad Seaman looked.  He's really not a freshman anymore in this his 14th game. I wonder if LK will take the other qb to Salem.  Westly was not nearly as good as advertised.

Did it seem to anyone else that Wesley had a somewhat hard time defending the runs outside? Seemed as though Lemmon and of course Shorts could have done a lot of damage running outside on end arounds and the like. Mouring is more a guy to pound up the middle.

Wasn't too many fans sitting on their hands today!

Anyone watching App St- Montana? The Ice and Snow Bowl!!

Yeah, I watched all the playoff games today.  Gotta love the lower divisions.  Fun sh*t!

Actually watching the replay this evening and the hit(s) on Rocco i'm surprised never drew a flag. Benson's shot was a nice tackle but was also helmet to helmet no doubt and then Rocco is on his knees after the initial hit and the second shot is delivered and very easily could have been a late hit as he was already down. Either way, its what it is, doesn't change anything, JMO. Hope and pray he's ok, as i know he was still trying to warm up off and on the second half.

I know you wanted MU to score 55 on Wesley today and that has you edgy ;D

Actually just wanted them to beat HSCoach's spread (10.5).  ;)
Like Whitewater didn't.  :-\

The hit on rocco was clearly shown on tv replay.  Helmet to helmet on the initial hit.  It did not look to be intentional but it should have been flagged.  Mt. outplayed wesley on intensity and VK had a well executed defensive scheme.  Mt. kicking game looked pretty good today.  Did Millings dress for the game?  I did not see him.  Keeping silent on Millings absence maybe a necessity but it only leads to wild speculations.  Truth is always better than conjecture.  Unless of course its personal in nature. Then if thats the case only Joe should decide what is told.  Mt. should be the underdog in Salem.  Personally, I think this is to our advantage.  If Kurt does play, would someone instruct him on the art of sliding in order to avoid taking a punishing hit.  GO RAIDERS!

I was extremely proud of Larry and Vince Kehres today. As Larry explained after the game, today was the exciting part for him because back in the summer they drafted a plan that they felt would take them to a national championship game. And they have worked the plan to the best of everyone's abilities and achieved the goal which is not to win the Stagg Bowl as much as it to allow these young to realize their potential and to have a chance to win a title for this specific group of young men.  It's what he was talking about at the OAC Preview and realized today.

It is the best grasp of coaching and values I've ever heard. His job is not to make sure these young men win another championship, but rather it is to best position these men so that THEY can win a championship. That is all it is about for Larry, and it would be great if more coaches looked at the same way.

I was very moved by how this team responded to adversity

Rocco should have slid..he led with his head and the hit was clean..nobody said it was dirty, the dirty remark was  attributed to the second hit on Rocco, but withdrawn after he realized that Rocco had fumbled and the guy was going after the ball.  Wesley D was strong, hit hard, and played well.  Does Mount score more with Rocco? maybe, but maybe Rocco throws a couple picks...all conjecture. Don't take away from the great effort on the field by saying your team didn't have "A" game.  Besides, At least they had their starting QB....

I thought is was great to see a team competing on the field that presented problems for Mount.  On Wesley's long pass play, McClain blitzed and they got time to hit a crossing pattern in the area that he vacated, or at least that is what it looked like to me.

I would assume Rocco out for the Stagg.  He did spend a couple days in the hospital earlier this season with similar concussion or related stuff.   Millings broke a  team rule and did not dress, and hushed tones say dont look for him in Salem, but we will see.  I trust LK to make the best decision for the player and the team in both cases...

Small but Slow

The video feed was going in and out about the time of the play where Rocco was injured so I can't pass judgement on it, but he was giving an effort to pick up additional yards. Perhaps the smart move would have been to slide, but he is a football player dressed in protective gear trying to win a game for his team.  Officials were in position to make the call but at this time of year they tend to let the players play and avoid making too many calls that change the outcome of the game.  Injuries are an unfortunate part of this game we love.  Hopefully Kurt will be fine for life after he quits playing and even in time for next week.  I thought that the offense would have continued to lean on the running game as it did the final possession of the first half.  The O-line seemed capable of controlling the line of scrimmage and the lead backs and receivers were opening some nice running lanes.  This would have eventually set up more play action passing looks for Seaman.  For whatever reason, this was not the plan for the second half.  As a fan of  run first football I would have liked to have seen more emphasis on running the ball.  I'm sure there is a good reason this was not the plan, perhaps the Wesley defense or concern about Morring's durability were issues..

Interesting situation for LK.  If Rocco can't play do you work with Seaman all week and hope he steps up to the task, or do you put Shorts in a position that he has not played for two years and hope his athletic ability can carry the day?
And for Whitewater, which QB do you prepare for, and what kind of offense do you work against?
Without Rocco, you have to make Whitewater a big favorite, but I still wouldn't rule the Raiders out.  With a big performance from the D and the effort and determination the O showed yesterday they just might get it done.
Looking forward to a fun weekend in Salem, win or ........ What's the word?  I can't seem to remember. :D
12-0 = 13

@d3jason

You have to go with Shorts. There was a point late in the third quarter, where the Raiders offense was looking helpless. At that point, I honestly entertained the thought that Wesley may win the game. I just wondered why they didn't go to their Shorts/Wildcat package earlier.

Being an old O and D lineman, I'm an "run first" guy too, but the playmakers on this Mount offense are a wide receiver.  Not running back.  Morring is a hard worker and I'm impressed that he's come so far back from 3 knee injuries, but he isn't a big play threat.  He's a fullback playing tailback.

Because as long an Mount had a 2 score lead, you didn't need it.    Why show your hand to Whitewater if you can win without it?  If Wesley wouldn't have hit the big pass play to Folkes, we'd have never seen Cecil at QB.

LK did the same thing in the '06 playoffs with hiding Micheli's arm.
