If LL left and it came down to Borland and Zebrowski, I doubt that Borland's experience as the HC of Baker University's women's softball team will be one of the major factors in the decision.  I agree that both would be worthy candidates but the notion that one's experience as a track and field HC or women's softball HC would sway the decision-making process in his favor might be a stretch.

Isn't it great that we have nothing better to do then discuss the hypothetical coaching candidates of a non-OAC school who has not actually lost their coach?!?

When's the next college football game again?  (And don't say the Senior Bowl!)
I never said that his HC experience "would sway,"  the decision in Borland's favor but while it is not in football, there are certain duties that are part of the job, scheduling, budgeting, ect. that exist no matter what the sport.  The fact remains that they both have been HC's and that levels the playing field when comparing their resumes. I only stated that Coach Z may not be the heir apparent some posters on here seem to think he is.   ;)

That's because there's a notion on this board that if you have "Mount Union University" on your diploma then you're the ONLY choice for a HC job.

Heck my HC told me the only reason I was getting moved up this coming season is because he knew I'd driven by Mount Union a couple times.   ;D

It's nice to know that Mount Union's success has made a positive contribution to yours, RC. :)

As a note on LL looking at other jobs, I think we are being a bit two-faced here.  We Mounties always took it as a sort of badge of honor when LK's name showed up in the news when other jobs opened.  He was not out pursuing anything, however take it as a compliment that a high level program likes and is interested in your guy.

I think there is a difference.  In LK's case it appeared that the other schools came calling and he didn't take interviews (that the public knew of, not as much internet news back then).  With LL, it appears that he is searching out.  Not holding anything against LL if that is what he wants, just wondering if there will be any fall out at UWW if he leaves, or if he stays and how this affects future recruiting.

Hey k-dad, that's only your speculation...there is no evidence of this. We don't even know the specifics of how he applied for Grand Valley - did they come calling first? Did LL make the first move? Just like LK, we may never know. We do know that an interview took place at GVSU because the UWW AD made mention of it in a madison.com article HERE. However, I've learned from a reliable source with knowledge of the UCM situation that Leipold in fact never interviewed for their open position. The report in footballcoachscoop.com was incorrect. What actually happened is this - the UCM AD telephoned LL and they had a short talk...that was it. The job has been open since mid-December. Word out of Warrensburg, MO is that when they start interviews, Leipold will not be a candidate. The leading candidate and odds on favorite is a former assistant at UCM presently an assistant coach in DI. With signing day coming in a couple weeks, they better get moving quickly.

Change hasn't officially happened at the school yet, so nope.

No more talking about LL and him leaving unless he actually does.

I go on record as being violently opposed to the University switch, however if it must be made, I vote for the
"University of" instead of MUU
I will most like lose this one too

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

I think I heard that they are leaning towards MUU, unfortunatly.

I like "THE" U of MU also.

While the name will change no matter what .....any similarity to the U of M should never be considered for obvious reasons. It was bad enough when the letter jackets resembled their jackets in the '70's. >:(

And The U of MU doesn't make it either? ???

If the name change is Mount Union University, it could be MTU as used some time ago by ESPN and others. I agree the U of M would not be to my liking either, but we will see.

Well calling it MTU would make about as much sense when they officially move to Mount Union University as it does now for Mount Union College.  Despite previous explanations, I've never liked the MTU abbreviation as it doesn't make sense as an abbreviation or acronym.
