Raider.....agreed and well stated.

Snoop,

Here's my 2 cents from following MUC the last 15-20 years:

1.  LK will play whomever he thinks is the best player.  Regardless of seniority.

2.  LK doesn't typically invite or accept transfers.  So if your boy is being looked at, especially at QB, LK must see something special in him.  It took a phone call from an ex-MUC player who was coaching at a rival school before LK would even call Pierre Garcon back when Pierre kept bugging MUC.  His program isn't built on transfers.  But if a special player really wants to look at MUC, he's more than willing to listen.

3.  There isn't a better D3 coach (some would argue best in the NCAA as a whole) at teaching and evaluating QB talent.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

hs coach.........Thank you very much for the insight, it is really appreciated.  He has some good options, MUC being the highest profile and therefore the most intriguing.  One of the coaches called me for Matts contact info and I got the impression he was straight forward and honest.  Matt has asked me to come with him, so I will also get to visit mom in Pittsburgh. He is calling to set up the dates.

Dr. Acula

I know someone mentioned Arth being named JCU's co-offensive coordinator, but the Streaks just posted this on their site today so I'll pass it along.

+k for HSCoach. One of the unique occasions when we agree 100% on something. Guess we're both getting older  :D

They say that when women hang out enough they get on the same cycle.  Maybe you and hscoach are just starting sync up similarly.   ;D

He also has d2 offers that are full schollies...meaning I pay nothing!  Thats not so bad either .

I am calling partial BS on this, unless its one of the scenarios in my second paragraph.  Signing Day is long past.  Between that and the fact that, as previously mentioned, D2 only has 36 scholarships, it is highly doubtful that any program in the country has that kind of unused scholarship money laying around.

It could be a small athletic scholarship and a more sizable academic scholarship, or perhaps they are state schools in CA where its extremely affordable for California residents.

I'm not sure, but signing day is usually very heavy on D1 signings, but a lot of D2 scholarships are available throughout the spring.  Those schools are waiting to see who is left over after the National Letter of Intent day, and many athletes, like Snoops Son, have time now to weigh their options and find the best fit.

They also could be offering School Grants and other types of scholarships that are not related directly to athletics.

Well said!, snoop dawg son's son wants to come to Mount, since he sees this to the best in D3 if the coaches feel he can challenge for a starting role. This could change however after his visit.

Reason I called BS is one of Capital's commits this year was weighing Capital, Mount Union and Ashland, and from speaking with his high school head coach, Ashland wanted him to sign on Signing Day.  Ended up committing to Capital.

Any word on Capital's next defensive coordinator?  Gotta imagine they are going with an outside hire.  Logical choice on staff is Tim Boynton, but he is a full time teacher and that probably wouldn't have the time to be a defensive coordinator and meet his classroom obligations, and would liely take a pay cut to be a full time d3 assistant coach.

Ashland may have had limited scholarships available this year with multiple "irons in the fire" so to speak.  So they may have been pressuring him to sign or else they had someone else waiting in the wings.

A few years back Northern Illinois University (DI) signed a player to a LOI in late spring.  I knew the Head Coach at that time (and his family) so I asked his wife how that happened.  She told me they had a scholarship open after the LOI day and the kid had to finish some classes to be cleared by the NCAA Clearing House, thus he was able to sign late like that.

On an OAC note one of my former players just returned from Ohio which included a visit to Ada.  His dad and he liked what they saw and heard from Coach Paul.  They've been skeptical of D3 football, but this trip opened their eyes.

The facilities at ONU are VERY impressive.  Coach Paul showed RC and I around (mostly for me because I'd never been to the ONU campus) and between those facilities and the way ONU is set up (much like a Big 10 campus -- but smaller scale, of course) + Coach Paul's knack for making kids feel welcome and part of a family ----- I can definitely see why those kids would have been impressed with what they saw.  Dean Paul runs a first class program and it gives the feel of a bigger school football program.

*Even the new hotel on campus is a huge hit... ONU has spent their money wisely.

D2 does have the same signing day as d1 and they do get kids that sign at that time. However they continue to recruit after that date, especially with JC kids. And from what I can tell they all leave a full or partial scholarship open if they are recruiting a particular position. One of the schools didn't even contact him until after signing day.

And like I said I don't know what the schlarship consists of maybe any or all of the things you mention. I don't really care where it comes from as long as its free

First Lane Kiffin and USC starts recruiting little kids to play quarterback and now Mount Union is recruiting kids of kids to play.  So sad.
