You guys keep talking about Tiffin like its a dump.  Is it?  My son was contacted by them and he said he wasn't interested in going to Ohio, until Mount Union came into the picture.

Some of the OAC schools are close to or are suburbs of larger cities in Ohio.

Baldwin- Wallace- Berea, close to Cleveland
John Carroll - University Hts, suburb of Cleveland
Capital- Bexley, eastern suburb of Columbus
Otterbein- Westerville, northeast of Columbus

The other 6 schools are in or near small towns.

Mount Union - Alliance - close to Atwater

The others are no great shakes either:

Ada
New Concord
Wilmington
Marietta
We have already talked about Tiffin

Yeah, but Ada takes the "middle of nowhere" prize.  Alliance is accessible to Canton/Akron, Wilmington is less than an hour from Dayton and Cincinnati, New Concord is about an hour from Columbus, and Marietta- though not real close to any other city of note- is twice the size of Ada.

Never been to Ada, but your are right Marietta is about 40,000-45,000 people.

I always thought a shrewd coach could do a bang up job at Marietta by using the nearby full nude strip clubs across the river in WV as a recruiting tool.  Nearby Parkersburg has a dozen or so full nude full liquor clubs.  A night at Sugar's Lounge, Big Bertha's, or the Centerfold Lounge can surely help a recruit make his decision about where he wants to spend the next four years.  What other OAC school has such resources?

I always had doubts as to why Marietta could not build a stronger football program. You may have highlighted why!

Marietta isn't located in a hotbed of football talent, but I'll bet they could bring in some good big city talent by exposing them to some Bada Bing type entertainment.  It may not bring in the best quality characters, but you need some of those questionable types to establish toughness when building a program.  At least the exposure to potential STD's may reduce their effectiveness if they play elsewhere.

Looks to be a good group of recruits to dear old UMU this fall, but I'll bet 'Etta could have pried away at least one of those boys with a steak dinner and lap dance at Sugar's Lounge.

Since everyone's bagging on Ada, I'd like to point out that it is 90 minutes from the greater Ada area (suburbs) to Columbus, Dayton and Toledo.  And Fricker's in Findlay is just twenty-five minutes away.

Marietta, while a larger town, is 2 hours from any culture besides the WV strip clubs.

Tiffin might be bigger than Ada too but it's not exactly a metropolis.  They're an hour fifteen from Toledo and two hours from Cleveland.

I wasn't exactly bagging on Ada.  It is a nice, quaint, quiet little town.  It's just, well, in the middle of nowhere.  As you referenced in your post, their motto should be: "Ada, Ohio.  We're an hour and a half from everything."

I don't know if I'd classify them in the culture category.  Just good clean family fun.

You just never had the opportunity because of Cap's location to travel twenty minutes west to Ada's big (ugly) sister city: Lima.  Lima was affectionately reffered to by the guest performers at the PAC as "Lost In Middle America".  At least Lima had a Skyline Chili's and (at the time) the closest McDonald's to campus.
