The entire remaining block West of the new Mount apartment housing has been purchased by the college (University) except the two remaining houses on Hartshorn. Those will be purchased in the near future giving way to more apartment style housing.

Last time I was in Alliance was for '07 semi-final and couldn't believe how much things had changed since the mid 90's when I left the state.  Many of the old landmarks were gone, for better or worse.  The campus is definitely much larger and more pedestrian friendly, but was still the same in many ways. The new practice fields in place of the old greenhouses were most notable.  Does the university expect to expand much more and increase enrollment significantly?

Mount has more land to expand on Union Ave. where the "old" Sigma Nu house stood and the church next to it was leveled. The block from Vincent to Overlook is now owned by Mount. The Mason house (white house on corner of Union and Vincent) will go to the University in the near future.

On enrollment Mount's growth is planned to be moderate, maybe total students in the 2500-2600 range over the next 5 years plus.

Yes, that's what a "University" does....... ;)

ESPN is saying the NFL and Steelers will announce the disciplinary actions to be taken on Ben Roethlisberger.  It seems the only way to truly punish him for his history of indiscretions would be to trade him to the Browns for Joe Thomas.

Of course it does.  I guess I should have been more specific.  Does UMU plan to double or triple its present enrollment or continue to grow gradually as it has the past 25 years or so?

Off-topic, but with the Steelers acquiring Byron Leftwich it makes me wonder if there has ever been a time when two MAC QB's were on the same NFL team.  The Steelers should look into getting Pennington and they could have an all-MAC lineup at QB.

The Steelers can trade Roethlisberger to the Raiders for Bruce Gradkowski (Toledo) and draft LeFevre (sp?) Central Michigan qb to achieve the all MAC QB roster and be rid of their albatross (alleged).

Sorry, was just being sarcastic......a "college" would be happy to gradually grow--however, a "university" would aggressively seek to "double or triple its present enrollment".   I see UMU making a concerted effort to increase their enrollment over the next few years, especially with the recent real-estate purchases to apparently add more student housing.

Hands off the SAE house, we're not selling,,unless of course you want to build a new house. Hopefully with a little more architectural thought than the SN house.

Isn't Charlie Frye still hanging on somewhere? The Steelers deserve him.

Hmmm, what will my answer be the next time Mount comes begging.

The school he is applying at is downsizing due to a new HS opening next fall.  That school is losing 20 Teacher Allocations, as well as being a very poorly rated school the past few years.  It is a tough job to whomever get's it.  The current JV Head Coach is also applying so it may be his job since he is already on staff and they wouldn't have to find a teaching position for him if promoted.
