reality check

I can't say whether or not Clausen will be a great pro but I can say his big bro Casey was a d-bag when he was at Tennessee.  My wife was in Knoxville during the Casey years and he was known all over campus as being a prick.  She saw him at more than one party with a holier-than-thou attitude.

The coolest thing to come out of the draft weekend for me was the fact that Lendale White was traded meaning the RB position in Tennessee got a little thinner, opening the door for former Michigan State and Chaminade-Julienne HS (be jealous Rock Stickler) RB Javon Ringer to get some more carries behind Chris Johnson.

Well I will totally agree with that description of both his brothers.  Both were held back 2 years in high school and are very arrogant.  One coaches at the high school that Jimmy played at.  Their Qb this year was Joe Montana's youngest son.  In the championship game Clausen, who is the OC, kept trying to pass and cost his team the championship.

Looks as though the Browns have a deliberate plan for Colt McCoy, which assumes that the starter #17 can lead the team this fall, we'll see!

Anyone have thoughts on D3 potential FA's in the next week or so?

Come on, I'm the original arrogant transfer who I after spending few weeks showing Bob Devaney and the Cornhusker Nation some of my best high stuff, I flew off to Ohio, into this midget town without so much as a good hunting store, and out on the field where 50 guys that looked like wideouts and safeties and I introduced myself to some old guy called Wable who I offered to show some my stuff to. He said we 'd begetting to my stuff a little later and nice to meet you "Don" go get some equipment

Next talk I had with him was on his front porch where I was hanging around with his youngest son David. The final piece of advice Coach Wable ever gave to me related to football was, "You ain't gonna get anywhere on our football team or in life by hanging around my sons. Did not know what a got read he had made there until at least a decade had gone by and there we were burying oldest son Gorgon

The Whitewater Kicker, Rocco and Williamson. If the Browns have draft a 5'11" rb with history of bad ankes, there is a pretty good runner coaching at Mouny Union

I wonder if I could use my last year of eligibility playing for the University of Phoenix. I could play virtual right end.

SBS........I wasn't being critical of your post, just making an observation and giving an opinion.

I agree with you about staying another year at ND if the offense was right for him.  Jimmy is actually almost 24.  In high school he was a year behind my son yet almost two years older.  He was held back two years, as were both his brothers, thus my Marinavich comment.  So maturity should not be a factor for him.

I am really anxious to see Mount Union next week.  Hope we get some good weather.

FYI --  Clausen will be 23 in September.

Two things:

1.  Heard the same thing about Clausen while he was at UT ... my crazy-crazy ex went there when he was there.
2.  Don't know if thats good or bad for Ringer --- can't be bad, he's #2... they also just signed Staffon Johnson from USC (weight lifting accident) to fill the void from White's trade.  Ringer is the same kind of back as Johnson right? (in theory).   I'll root for him though, so he doesn't have to use that terrible C-J Diploma for anything..   ;D

I don't suspect anything funny as a non Mount poster.

In fact, what you guys do at Mount Union with your backdoor is entirely your own business.  Leave all of the rest of us out of it.

Got me there. I was wondering if someone would pick up on that

Two of my former players who were considering OAC schools have decided to take the paths of least resistance, from a competitive standpoint anyway.  One is going to Springfield (MA) and the other to Franklin (IN).  Both are big (5'11" 290 and 6'1" 280) and somewhat athletic, but have this idea they'll come in as starters.  Both have played center and guard and both can long snap.    The only d3 program I know much about rarely (okay, never) has freshmen starting on the o-line.  Both programs have been successful the past couple years and I hope the boys do well and enjoy their d3 experiences, but I am concerned that both can be a bit fragile and may become distraught and disillusioned if they don't play right away and end up back in FL taking a class or two a semester at the community college and delivering pizza.
Does anyone have much knowledge about these programs?  I'll ask on their conference pages, but thought I'd start in the friendly confines of the OAC first.

Franklin College is playing MUC (UMU) in 2012 and 2013.  If he sticks it out he'll be able to play in Alliance before he finishes college!  ;)

It still cracks me up that there is a "University of Phoenix" stadium.

Not going to be a contest without their stud QB ---- Franklin finished behind a very average MSJ team in 2009.  Thomas More hammered them in the Bridge Bowl AT Mount St Joe.

They need to hope Rupp reproduces quickly and sends his kid to Franklin.  Without him, they're just another average Hanover team from when Wayne Perry was coaching there.
