SBS........I wasn't being critical of your post, just making an observation and giving an opinion.

I agree with you about staying another year at ND if the offense was right for him.  Jimmy is actually almost 24.  In high school he was a year behind my son yet almost two years older.  He was held back two years, as were both his brothers, thus my Marinavich comment.  So maturity should not be a factor for him.

I am really anxious to see Mount Union next week.  Hope we get some good weather.
snoop, I agree with you about Clausen.  I watched him play every ND game & his NFL showcase at ND.   I think he's going to be a fine NFL QB.  Carolina was very lucky to get him at 48th pick.  The media got it wrong about Jimmy.  He has a great attitude and his players respect him.  Golden Tate made that clear when he had the chance.
Not sure about the following omens, however:
Clausen is up against a former Oregon State QB (Matt Moore) like fellow Domer Quinn was with Browns (Derek Anderson).
Carolina's field runs east-west like the Browns field, not north-south like most football fields.

This may not be as much of an omen as you think. After 15 years of late-game sun in my eyes I checked both Google Maps and Bing and the field actually runs nw-se, kind of like a backslash ... \.

"Not going to be a contest without their stud QB ---- Franklin finished behind a very average MSJ team in 2009.  Thomas More hammered them in the Bridge Bowl AT Mount St Joe.

They need to hope Rupp reproduces quickly and sends his kid to Franklin.  Without him, they're just another average Hanover team from when Wayne Perry was coaching there."

The Raiders as we all know have limited choices for their non-conference game, not sure if Franklin was at the top of their list, but it is what it is.

"If" their conference can be measured  in part by what Mt. St. Joseph did against the Raiders in the playoffs a few back then it will not be a real test. In addition, Franklin's wins of a (down) B-W program in 2008-9 were relatively close games, IMHO.

Neither omen nor eyes - Charlotte's layout, south of "uptown," is directionally challenged.  The only "true," north to south road in the south side is I-77, and any novice who has tried to navigate the Dilworth-Myers Park sections, southeast of the stadium, has undoubtedly found themselves "going in circles."  :-[   ;D
"Forever more as in days of yore Their deeds be noble and grand"

Small but Slow

So Franklin joins the bi-annual merry-go-round of non-conference opponents for Mount.  Seems to have worked out well for UWW, but not so much for Averett or St. Johns Fisher the past few years.  I have to applaud them for adding the Raiders along with their nearby FCS opponents.  Butler nor Valpo football is not on the same level as their basketball teams, but as FCS teams should be stiff competition for any d3 team.

Chris Hauser named Cap's DC.

I remember trying to recruit Hauser to come to Cap.  We all figured he'd go someplace bigger, but we aimed big and tried to sell him on the merits of playing close to home and being able to play two sports.  As you can tell by his bio, he chose not to come, but it's great that he's "back home" as the D-Coord.  Being a local guy, you hope he'll stick around for a while.

Very impressed with Cap's choices for HC and DC, despite all the chatter about the role of sports at the school.  Both are far from proven commodities, but Stanford had a good season in his first year calling the offense last year and Hauser's got a nice resume.  Got to remember Jim Collins was far from a proven commodity when he arrived in Bexley and we all know what he did.  We'll see how these new hires translate into wins and losses, but I feel good right now.

I was just told that we hired a new line coach from the rival school that replaced their coach with OSU alum and former St. Louis Ram, Joe Germaine.  Of all the places in the world, this new line coach went to school somewhere in Illinois but played his high school ball and grew up in Dayton.  I'm actually really excited to have someone on staff from my hometown way out here in Arizona.  Small world.

This might bring us to six coaches for three levels.  ;)

New role for former Massillon coach Rick Shepas at Waynesburg.  He'll be taking over as AD.

That team has kinda taken a step back ... ever since they lost the services of Robert Heller at RB.

Its good that he's been able to get the AD job ---- the Heller situation was a big mess at the time.

RC --- lets see, two Ohio Coaches ... you guys probably should win 7 games based on that alone!!!

I find easily offended people rather offensive!
