Interesting look at possible D3 draft interest in: Saturday small-schools look

Hope Cecil has a big final year with the Raiders and hopefully he will have some solid NFL opportunities. He along with other returning seniors, can keep the Raiders in championship contention! :)

I'm obviously in no position to compare the two but I would like some insight regarding the size of Garcon compared to Shorts.

You can look anywhere from mtunionfootball.com to nfl.com and see Pierre listed anywhere from 6'0" to 6"2" and between 190 and 210 lbs.

Cecil is listed anywhere from 5'11" to 6'2" (Mount athletic site) and between 180 lbs and 200 lbs.

Everyone says Pierre is more of a physical threat than Cecil but the numbers seem pretty comparable (not to mention pretty variable depending on the source).

Are these guys that different?

Both have similiar speed and hands, but Garcon was/is a great blocker.
HScoach probably knows each of their skills and work ethic the best, IMHO. :)

Pierre was MUCH thicker, stronger and hit like a SOB.  Had better hands.

Cecil is built like a track guy.  Long and lanky.  Faster than Pierre.   Cecil looks like a Ted Ginn clone.

Both are great receivers, but very different body types and styles of play.

My biggest question on Garcon heading to the pros was whether he had the speed to play there.  With Cecil, it's whether he can handle the physical nature of the League.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Predictably, ONU wins easy 63-6.  I think the trip is more about chemistry-building, experiencing another culture and an excuse to get the pads on for a couple practices so I won't put much stock in the numbers although they are all solid.

I think someone scored on this play...it's hard to see anything right of center though for some reason...

RC:  For just a second, I was going to comment on the long hair that the offensive lineman had in the picture.....but, then I saw the vertical stripes and realized it was an official.  Wouldn't want to get her angry.

As reported by the Colts, P. Garcon has the best speed of all their current receivers! Not sure how the Colts WR's compare with the other NFL teams.

Pierre presented with the Warner Award:

btw, I think that Cecil will be drafted higher than Pierre.  Pierre sort of opened the door a bit for Cecil.  Hopefully Cecil will get invited to the draft combine, that was a huge opportunity for Pierre.  If Cecil produces good enough numbers there, some team will fall in love with his speed...ie the Raiders

Nice article about former MUC player Brett Baker and the other members of the first ROTC class at MUC.  Sounds like a great trio.  Their service is greatly appreciated.

Cecil could be drafted higher than Pierre (6th round), but will depend on 3 things IMHO.

1. How he and the Raiders perform this fall

2. The number of WR's eligible for the draft

3. His work ethic now, the fall and pre-daft. Pierre's work ethic was top notch and the NFL was impressed with that.

1.  barring injury, Cecil will preform well enough for the NFL to take notice.  Just too much of a talent difference between him and those that cover him.

2.  the # of WR eligible is not a huge deal, Cecil wont be a top 3 round pick...just need one team to fall in love.

3.  if you know cecil, i dont think his work ethic will ever be questioned.  he's the cliche of a "coach's son"  he's a pretty focused kid.

When and where did the Colts report Garcon is the fastest WR they have?

Taj Smith: 4.39 Pro Day
John Matthews: 4.50 Combine
Sam Giguerre: 4.35 (Canadian equivalent of combine)
Anthony Gonzalez: 4.44 Combine
Reggie Wayne: 4.40 Combine
Pierre Garcon: 4.48 Combine
Austin Collie: 4.53 Combine
Blair White: 4.50 Combine
Dudley Guice: 4.40 Pro Day

Of course Wayne's numbers are way old and nobody has 40 times for grizzled vets.  Garcon might be the fastest on the Colts roster but if he is, it would appear to be pretty even across the board.  Of course, 40 yard times are nice to talk about but that doesn't necessarily translate to the football field.  Just ask Roy Hall, who lost a roster spot to Pierre in spite of his low 4.3 40 time.
