It is very early to predict, but I do not see Cecil as getting drafted.  I think Pierre's blocking and physical nature, along with the speed, helped him get a first  look  and stay around until he got to display his receiving talents. Cecil does not possess this, as coach said, "thick" muscular body that Pierre does.  I think the comparison to Ginn is fair, however by many standards and opinions, Ginn will not be in the NFL much longer.  I hope Cecil gets a shot, but I think any thing other than free agency is a long shot.

Small but Slow

Comparing Cecil to PG isn't really fair.  While both are speed guys PG benefitted from a running game that dared defenses to double team him. He also played with several receivers who could also burn a defense that focused too much on him.  Last year's running game lacked the threat provided by Kmic, yet Cecil was able to get open and make a lot of plays with less experienced qb's. Cecil also didn't have a qb as mobile and wily as Micheli last year, which helped keep safeties' eyes on the line of scrimmage.  I'm not saying he's better, or even as good as PG, but last season he had to do more on his own than PG had to do.  If Mount's 2010 qb has the ability to get him the ball in open space consistently he can get the attention necessary for an NFL team to draft him.  Speed is a commodity that will always provide an opportunity to play in the NFL.

Pierre was a guaranteed special teams guy. And I don't even think the Colts thought he would be a kick-off coverage and punt guy till they saw the hits he put on people on the dead run. I've studied him on kickoff's and think there should be a PG85 kick/lick highlight film, because he punishes people. This might not be a talent CSIII brings but his skill sets is rather different, including the passing threat from a flanker.

It all means nothing if he doesn't get the showcase games he needs
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

A showcase game in Salem, VA in December would be nice! :)

Good point, but who is returning that has the edge other than Seaman? I thought the QB from Calfornia would have had a good shot, but he accepted a D-1AA scholarship!

a few people were high on the Piloto kid, the KY kid might show up and impress, plus the unknown...LK will make the QB's earn the job

Coach Kehres will no doubt make the Qb's earn playing time. When you have Cecil Shorts, Kyle Miller and some other high potentials to throw to, it will be "that" player who meets the challenge. My larger concern is: what players will make the running game more improved over 2009. :-\

I wish nothing more than for Mount Union to identify their next star QB and RB...
