The University of Mount Union,,,,the former MUC,,,was up 48-0 in the rain at the end of 3qtrs,,but talent level was not equal at all

regarding the 4 or 5 years to complete college these days, the Ohio Department of Education and colleges now require much more training and observation of actual classrooms to get a teaching certificate.  This has resulted in many education majors to have to take an extra semester to finish the requirements...

Just remembered that we called the education courses, Kiddie Math and Kiddie Lit and  took a whole course on Audio-Visual Aides. Now they have made it almost absurd.

And they still don't teach you how to break up a fight between two 17 year old girls. Or how to talk to totally insane parents

If this was in 2000 or 2001 then I was running the scoreboard.  That game was a similar score, it was pouring down rain and it was on the practice field next to the stadium.  All I remember is that Malone scored right at the end of the game to make it 55-7 or something and VK was going crazy because they lost the shutout.  He wanted that goose egg.

^^^^ I found it thanks to Ric...it was 2001 and the score was 48-6.

Those early JV scores were an indicator.......................

rscl170 and knightstalker:

Good points.  While it perhaps is not as common for that to happen at some other DIII schools, it does happen for the NJ state schools.  Just as you mention about Mount Union, at Hope, most people do graduate in 4 years, although sometimes for some people, it does take that extra semester and/or the entire 5th year.  In some situations, it depends on the academic track that was chosen, while in others, perhaps classes had to be taken in different stints, time slots, delayed, etc. for whatever reason.  Of course, that extra time does add to the cost as you've pointed out.
The bottom line is that is costs so much for a bachelor's degree especially at a private school and now in Ohio at least the state schools have greatly increased their fees. The reduction of state support at all education levels have been a major cause. At Mount 80-85% of the students have student loans.

Students at state schools will continue to take 4.5-5 yrs  to graduate as mentioned previously for a variety of reasons. The other factor is all these costs carried by the parents are after tax dollars. You have to earn $50-55 k per year to cover a schools whose fees  in total are $35k, assuming no loan offsets. WOW!
That is true so for my $65K + expenses I will need to pay next year I need to make over $100,000 before I pay any other bills like a house payment, etc.  I will see a $7500 tax credit for at least next year, assuming I don't get a big bonus.

I'm remembering an argument I had with my father about going to college or giving me the money to buy White Frieghtliner semi tractor and I could pay him back in four years. Wonder if my daughter would be interested in driving a truck  :D

So it will be 50 days 8 hours and a few minutes until the name change...

UMU has a bit of graphic symmetry to it. (MUU was already taken by the Hawai'ian language.)   :D

Seventies,

Those newer Class 8 trucks are really nice and the sleeper compartments
offer all the comforts of home, maybe even wireless for on-line courses! :D

I just read an article that says that 400,000 truckers would be needed in the next 4 to 5 years due to retirement and attrition.

As an Omaha Westside High School graduate, I'm having a little trouble coming to grips with my Cornhuskers in the Big Ten, but clearly the most positive move they could have made with Colorado and the Texas teams bailing out of the conference.
