Not all of us in the NCAC play the "academic card". And a few of us actually rebuke the ones who do. It's a stupid argument. We can agree on that much, skunks.

Mount Union is going down.  They have never seen a defense like ours....oh wait, they did in week 4, and everyday in practice. :D

Skunks -

Last year someone who allegedly followed Denison was playing the academic card INSIDE the NCAC. Argh.

The OAC and NCAC have similar sized schools, but the missions are different in many cases and that's OK. You still gotta bring the smarts to get into these schools.

;D  E lee - CAP should save themselves the trip and embarassment of traveling up to Alliance.  What ya gonna do when the likes of Jorris, Garcon, Casto, KMIC, run wild on CAP's vaunted defense, while Mount's stifling defense smacks Rocky around like the squirrel he is??????  HUH?   :P

(Actually, if CAP plays defense like ONU did in the regular season, it is going to be a tough game).

Cap did play as good or better than ONU's defense for 3Q.
Lets hope they haven't found additional stamina to make it all 4Q this time.

In an earlier post someone put it best. "Capital is much improved from the first time these teams met. But so is Mt Union."
This is looking to be a heck of a game.

Congrats to the members of this year's Academic All-OAC team including moe45 for his HM Academic All-OAC nod.

JCU's Doug Phillips carries a 4.00 dual major in history/communications.  That can't hurt a Gagliadri finalist although he's got to be an underdog.

7 of 17 first teamers come from Baldwin Wallace.  Apparently they were so busy studying this season, they often forgot to show up to the games.   ;)

Skunks,
I would bet on Cap's defense showing up, but the question is what do they prepare for? Do they try and stop Kmic and rely on their DB's to cover Garcon and Company, or do they stop the past first? My personal opinion is that you always stop the run first and make the recievers and QB make plays.  Cap will not get embarassed. They have already proved they belong by beating teams from other conferences. This is just proof that the OAC is a superior league. I think if Cap can keep it close for 3 quarters again, they will find a way to win it in the  4th. GO CAP!

I think its funny Mount gets to play a team they beat in the regular season in the North Region Final. Speaking from pure experience, the game does not bode well for CAP. If you thought Mount was a tough place to play during the regular season, they take it to a whole new level during the playoffs. The outcome of this game will be determined by turnovers. Good luck to both teams. Go Raiders!

Everyone out west thinks they are playing the National Title game this week. Thats a big smack to the state of ohiofootball where the Pro Hall is and the College Hall should be still.

Obvioulsy I wouldn't count out Capital or MUC, but I also would take a close look at Rowan and Bridgewater, based on their recent histories. Obviously I only know what I read, but that's my opinion.

I think everyone agrees that if ONU had gotten teh nod instead of Capital they would be playing for the North title, but how about JCU? Could Otterbein have won a game in the North?

Skunks,

In my opinion, I think the reason you don't find many "smack" talkers from the Cap side is, as coach Noleburg would say, two fold..  (1) It is an older crowd, and  (2) out of the older crowd, most of them on here were the ones who went through the really tough times at Capital.  They were apart of the 1-9, 2-8 teams.

I think that if you are apart of a losing program that brings itself up from the dumps you have a better appreciation for winning.  Yet, if you are apart of teams that year in/out kick everybody's butt, you may have a tendancy to think your skunk doesn't stink.

A handful of us remember Mount teams that had to schedule Hiram so they'd be sure to win the Homecoming Game. That was all BK: Before Kehres the Quarterback and Before Kehres the coach. I quess that's what makes spending some time on top so great.

Whether or not JCU would still be playing depends on which team showed up, the team that ripped off six straight after the Mount loss, or the team that dropped it's last two (including the disappointing loss to BW).

Looking at the other teams in the North, I don't know if Otterbein could've come away with a win yet.  I've said before that I think that this team is going to make some serious noise in the coming years.  That being said, however, this year's team may be very talented (the offense looked very good in the early going against Carroll), but they are also very young.  It'll be interesting to see what Ott does in 2006.

How many Mount followers think that the recent step up in game performance is due to the team coming together as opposed to the coaching staff coming together. I personally think that the number of new faces on the sidelines has added to the lack of sharpness on the field.

rp,

Those are excellent points.  Also thanks for making me chuckle at the mention of Coach Noleburg.
