Wilmington was tough their first year on the OAC. But the town still makes Sebring look like paradise

Is Wilmington competitive in their other sports in the OAC?

Walsh University in N. Canton, Oh has been accepted by the NCAA for admission in Division II.  I guess they would rather face Ashland than MTU.

The Marietta game with the shortened periods and never stopping clock is at least a close second to the Wilmington "No-QB" game.

Got a Fantasy listing with PG85 listed as the 32 nd best receiver in football, ahead of Austin Collie. Let's see where he is next year

As a matter of record, Division 6 Mogadore has a way nicer facility than Wilmington

I don't know about now but they were quite good in soccer up until at least a couple years ago.  I had a high school classmate play there and they were in the NCAA's twice in his college days.  They had something like 30 consecutive winning seasons into the mid-2000's.  So that makes the Wilmington Quakers the Baldwin-Wallace of OAC soccer.

It would be great to have additional D3 players in the NFL after this fall! :)

Raider 68. I emailed Sixburgh Steelers prior to 2007 draft suggesting they consider taking Steve Smith USC wr. [now NYGiant] and Pierre Garcon wr [ now INDY COLT.] Both were available for Steelers to draft in round one and round two. They emailed me back "thanks for being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan". I recently sent them another email advising them of their blunders not drafting my 2007 suggestions and  to check out Mount Union Purple Raider Cecil Shorts 2010 and they wrote back by email-----Thanks for tip we will  follow him !

Wilmington had to defeat MUC in OT not to share the cellar in Men's kick ball this past year

Thanks Stoonk,

If Cecil has a good year, you would think there would be strong interest by a few NFL teams including the Steelers! +k  :)

QUESTION: How do you feel the Colts will work the rotation at the wide receiver position? Are we looking at more four wide sets? Who has the hot hand? How do you see the number of reps each game for Pierre Garcon, Anthony Gonzalez and Austin Collie?
-- from Dann Giszewski, Mishawaka, IN

ANSWER: There's no question in my mind the most interesting area for training camp will be wide receiver. This has the potential to be one of the deepest groups, if not the deepest group, the Colts have had. My current pecking order has Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon being the outside starters with Anthony Gonzalez ahead of Austin Collie as the slot receiver. I just like the deep speed Garcon provides on the outside, even though I really like Gonzo's after-the-catch skills. Gonzo said he's been assured by the coaching staff that he'll be given an opportunity to compete with Garcon for the No. 2 spot alongside Wayne. We'll see how that shakes out. One thing to keep in mind is you also have to figure Dallas Clark into the rotation. As I mentioned, a very, very deep and talented group. Somebody's playing time is going to diminish, and my hunch is it will be Collie. Again, just a hunch.

The reporter is one of two for the Colts.

Does all this Wilmington bashing make you all feel better?  It really sounds pathetic and embarrasing.  I guess maturity was not a graduation requirement at the almighty Mount Union or Ohio Northern.  I do realize the vast majority of Mount Union graduates are good people and the football coach shows a lot of class; however, the few old farts that post on this board who live vicariously through the football team are really getting a little tiresome.

I figured it would make you feel better old fart.  "Olde" kind of has a sentimental connotation, I didn't use it as I am not particularily sentimental.

We all want the OAC to be a strong conference top to bottom and at times
certain programs do not plan and execute the successful philosophy to be competitive. In addition, other factors i.e. administration support, location, program history can affect their success. I for one, hope Wilmington finds a good coach ASAP in order for the program to get rolling.

Regarding Mount Union, as an alum and former player I have pointed out the shortfalls as well, when they occur in a supportive manner.
