Maybe it's been discussed, but isn't it pretty ridiculous that THIS guy didn't get POY?

Kurt Rocco   Regular Season:  210.95  155-223-6   69.5%  2680yds  31TDs

Rocco had an excellent season, but for POY how about UWW quarterback Jeff Donovan?

PASSING           GP  Effic  Cmp-Att-Int  Pct  Yards   TD  Long  Avg/G
Jeff Donovan   15  177.0  269-374-6  71.9  3682  29  77  245.5

                       - or -

UWW runnning back Level Coppage?

RUSHING             GP  Att   Gain  Loss  Net   Avg   TD  Long  Avg/G
Levell Coppage   15  310  2143  36   2107  6.8   35    68    140.5

Those are Nate Kmick level numbers!

Sorry for this selfless UWW hack for intruding on the OAC board, I'm just getting my "training camp face" on!  :)

Good points, no apology required!

I was trying to get you to 200 on the Karma chart, Raider 68 -- but I got an ugly message that I had to wait 24 hours before I can add to your total. Sorry about that. I'll probably have to wait for the next milestone to put you over the top!!

BTW, the Top 25 preseason poll is out -- have you seen it?
I'VE REACHED THAT AGE

SHOULDN'T SAY THAT," TO

WHAT HAPPENS."

Thanks for that, and yes I have seen the poll and it is about what I expected. I do not expect much movement in the top 5-6 until the season is well underway. Your UWW is #1 and I agree with that to start the season. The OAC is well represented for the pre-season! :)

Posted this on the WIAC board and I thought I would share this with some of my favorite guys here on the OAC board.  You know who you are.   ;)

I was given this wonderful link on facebook by an ex-Warhawk coach of A.J.'s.  Wanted to share it with all of you.  So appropriate as players everywhere prepare to take the field the next few weeks.  Here's to, "The Boys of Fall"  Enjoy  :)

"They didn't let just anyone in that club
Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood
To get to wear that game day jersey down the hall
Kings of the school, man, were the Boys of Fall"

" It's knocking heads and talking trash
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass
It's I got your number, I got your back
When your backs against the wall
You mess with one man, you got us all"

"Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!"  Dennis Miller

"Three things you don't want to be in football, slow, small and friendly!"  John Madden

life." Paul Dietzel / LSU

reality check

No offense to the WIAC boys but why would we want to discuss Donovan or Coppage's numbers in consideration of OAC POY?  We could go down a list of individuals all over D-III that have crazy numbers but we were discussing the OAC honors from 2009.

I would suspect the boys at UWW got some WIAC love at the end of last season.  I hope so anyways!
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

My guess is Voice had not read back very far and missed the context of the convo.   + karma for going easy on him.

If my calculations are correct...I wonder what numbscull would give Mount Union a third place vote to start the season.

25x5 = 125
24x19 = 456
23x1 = 23
             604

I was surprised the first-place votes weren't closer

The same guy that had ONU and Otterbein tied for 1st had to have Mount no higher than 3rd cuz they had A TIE FOR 1st.

I was refering to the DIIIfootball.com preseason poll. I'm just curious who that one person put in front of Mount. Linfield (maybe)? Wesley (i hope not)?

If there was a theme among the standout players who spoke at media day yesterday, it was a love of the game and a disdain of personal records and achievement.

Page 1966-Dedicated to Raider66

Factoid-Coaches can't vote for themselves to place first in the OAC pre-season poll and hence THAT person usually votes for the second place team from last year and there was a tie in 2009.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Trickle-down cliche runs rampant in all levels of athletics, though DIII may take the cake for this kind of Stepford-wife moralizing. "Golly, these are some good kids..."

 Of course I sat next to Mount Union's student athlete yesterday and was really impressed with him. Runyr can testify, If I could  have found a suit to wear the summer between my Jr/Sr years, it would probably been orange with Stark County across the back.

I guess I was impressed because I was a lot closer to Animal House than I care to remember

Once the season gets well along, the votes will shift somewhat from the 25 group!  They did last year!, We'll see. :-\
