Watching the OAC preview show on STO.  Looks like Ott tweaked their helmets.  Still gold with cardinal decal, but instead of the "OC" within the oval it's now just a large "O".  Looks kind of like Oregon's helmet if that helps.  Had to scrap that old one since they're a University now.

OK -- so just to check, did you receive or not receive the password in the end?

Well, crap!  If that was where you were delivering the password, I'm glad I didn't ask for one!   :D

Thanks so much for your dedication to your site and the promotion of Division III football in general.  Every once in a while I would think to myself, "You know, ONUfootball.com would be an awesome site just like mtunionfootball.com."  But then I'd realize that I didn't have what it takes to put anything close to comparable together.

Thanks for keeping me grounded all these years and for all the hard work you've put into your site.  I have gone to your site countless times to check facts.  I've come to trust what I read there even more than the official sites and NCAAsports.com from time to time.  I do hope all your work stays on the net in some shape or form.

Best wishes!

Man Ric, this is like losing a family friend :(. Your site was built on your passion for Mount Football and that passion spilled over to many of us through the web site.

I read with great joy, the history, game write-ups, tale of the tape and so much more. It was my Mount Union fix and I deeply appreciate all your hard work and effort that went into that site. There was no better place to go for a missing fact about Raider football. Thank you for making my association with Mount Union Football so much better.

I, for one am hopeful that with some of the time gained from the web site that you will be more available and post here on the boards as you had in the past few years. I've always enjoyed your insight and since the site is gone, please share that here on the boards with us.

Once again......THANKS RIC! ;D ;D ;D

Ric,

Before I was a Capital player and fan, I was a Mount fan growing up in the Alliance area.  As a kid whose dad coached at West Branch, I followed guys like Scott Woolf and Russ Kring as they brought MUC to the upper echelon of D3 in the 80's.  Of course the internet did not exist in those days and as the years passed, those memories faded.  Your site, with all the historical information, brought a lot of those back for me.

So, as a non-MUC guy, I echo the sentiments previously posted about your website.  I didn't visit religiously like some of the MUC posters on here, but certainly enjoyed it when I did.  Thanks for everything and especially for helping me remember what some of my earliest childhood heroes did in their college careers.

Ric,
I can only echo what has already been said.  Thank you for all your hard work, for all the information you provided and for your dedication and passion for Mt. Union.  No matter how good the official Mount Union site becomes, I do not think MtUnionfootball.com can be replaced.

I'll look forward to hearing you on the radio.

I'm sort of sad right now. :(

Yeah, me too......Ric, thanks for a GREAT job.  The only advice I would have for us all is:

All of this talk of Ric's site had me back on there again today.  One of my favorite things is the "Prior to 2002" records.  Basically this is the area for "what if the playoff stats counted for everyone?"  This is where you go to say things like "Geezus, no one is ever going to throw for more career yards than Borchert!"  14,617 yards for anyone interested.

It's also where you can go to appreciate guys like Adam Marino.  272 catches, 4704 yards and 52 TD's including a record 110 grabs his senior year.

Cecil has the chance to get his name on that record page this season.  He is currently 83 catches, 1195 yards and 7 TD's behind Marino for the "true" career record in all 3 categories.  The latter two seem to be all but certain given CS3's play the last 2 years, but it also depends on the QB situation.

I'm thinking the passing of MTUnionFootball.com deserves a little FrontPage article as the season goes on, ehh Pat?

When is the Presto-ism of this site scheduled.?

I guess I won't be needing this mountain of programs and media books from the OAC anymore. Dang I just bought one. eBay here they come.

Ric,

As an outsider out here in UWW country let me say I'm saddened to read that http://www.mtunionfootball.com will be going "dark" as the 2010 season kicks off.  I think I've told you this before, but your "unofficial" Mount Union Website was the inspiration for me and former Warhawk head coach Bob Berzowitz to develop Warhawkfootball.com back in 2003 (following UWW's nonconference games with then-MUC in 2002 and 2003).

You have done such a marvelous job of "putting a face" on Mount's legendary football program and its players.  Like you, NCAA Division III football deserves as much marketing that it can get. With journalists like you, Pat Coleman (d3football.com), etc., providing year-round coverage of Mount Union and Division III football  is a Godsend for D III fans around the country (and the world) - your Web browsers and Mount fans around the country are very fortunate.

I know their have been a couple of other unofficial football Websites around the country that were forced to shut down do to pressure from the school they are promoting.  That is extremely unfortuate and shortsighted.

I know how much work went into mtunionfootball.com, I hope Mount fans and the Mount athletic department understand how important the work that you did was.

Your open letter on your site was one of total class and I just hope you weren't "forced out".  The upgrade to the Mount athletic site is fantastic but does not reflect the emotion and loyalty that your site does.

I'm very sad about today's news and can only wish you the best and yes I will continue to listen to your radio broadcasts when I can.

Great job!!!!!

Not a bad idea, 70s, I think a blog post is in the offing.

As for question 2, the only thing I have is "soon" -- I hope to have a final launch date in the next couple of days.

I feel like I have lost part of "us" ...All Mounties are saddened by the loss of Ric's website, and cannot say enough what it has meant to us over the years.  thanks Ric and good luck
This was a one of a kind love and shall never be equalled or appreciated as much as we have appreciated your time and efforts in this endeavor.

I feel fortunate in the fact the D3.com appears to be flourishing and hope it continues to be there and keep up the standards it has set for itself and others.

Much Love and Respect to Ric and to mtunionfootball.com.  Really, that site was the inspiration for many of us that started fan sites for our respected teams.  Ric's site was true class and the DIII community is a little worse off for the site going dark.

Thank you Ric for being a trailblazer to all the rest of us fan site webmasters/bloggers!

I just hope the new Mount athletic web-site can attempt to fill the huge void left by Ric's site. It may take a some time, but here is hoping! :)

It has not quite sunk in that MtUnionfootball.com will go silent! :(
