I checked the Otterbein stats.  Jones had no returns (Husson kicked away from him?).  He started at rover and only had two tackles, although both were TFL.

Ott 38, Husson 0....Husson covers!!

(For those that don't play the pick em HScoach's spread was 38.5)

I'm still amazed he does this year after year and week after week.  I mean really, how do you hit a point spread that big?!?!

A mixture of luck, special tea leaves and a couple Italian cousins from Youngstown that I'm glad I was nice to as a kid.    Vinny and Paulie are great communicators.

And this is only week 1 of the Pick-ems. It is going to be a challenge for the entire season. WOW! +k Great job HScoach, but I hope your intuition is off the mark for the Raiders this year! :)

Maybe there can be some sort of consolation prize for the person who has the most incorrect picks on games where hscoach is within a point of the actual spread?  Maybe I should call in a favor from when I used to babysit for a member of the Genovese family!  Will Vinnie and Paulie be able to stand up to them?   :D

That 83% pick for Case seems a bit optimistic.  I'm hoping Case wins, but until I see a game QB'd by anyone not named Whalen, I'm withholding judgment.

On the UAA board, I picked Case, but it wouldn't surprise me to see them win by 1 point at the last minute.

MS - that 83% margin is more about how all of us OAC fans have NO confidence that JCU can play at a competent level at all.  For the league's sake I hope they improve this year, but until I see it......eh.

Other than ONU letting me down, I have correctly picked the B-W & OTT game.  I think I will parlay some of this brilliance into some cashola this weekend on some college games.

Oh wait......I tried that once when I was in my twenties.......one of life's more expensive lessons.   :o

jam40jeff

I think JCU will be better than people seem to be expecting (not necessarily very good but better than last year), and I am worried CWRU has lost much more than people seem to realize (especially from their high-powered offense; not just Whalen but some very good receivers and a beast of a fullback).  As much as I hope CWRU wins tonight, I'm definitely not ready to make any predictions for the first game of the year since I haven't seen the new offense in action.

The Berg is out to a 14-0 1st quarter lead

BTW-Coach Ross, the other Coach Ross has a kicker for ya. Mogadore HS's Alex Roebken converted a 47 yarder last night.

Dr. Acula

Musky is up 10-0 at half over Defiance

Dr. Acula

Defiance doesn't notch a first down until midway through the 3rd quarter, but they've tied it at 10-10....OT.  Come on Fish!

And seventies' Student Princes (can we call them yours since there are no other Berg fans?) are rolling Alma 42-16 early in the 4th.

Dr. Acula

Musky wins in 2 OT 19-13.  Berg wins 42-23.  Etta wins 28-7.  With ONU, Ott and BW that makes the OAC 6-0 so far.  That'll last until we get a Wilmington final tonight.

Way to go, OAC! What a start!

I WISH it were just HSCoaches' intuition and tea leaves operating here.  Unfortunately too much of his jaw-dropping accuracy comes from just being right. Dang.  Grateful for all this board teaches.  I guess I'll need a special help tutorial  sometime if I'm ever going to understand  how the whole pick em thing works.  Is there an article le about that elsewhere in this site?

reality check

Great start for the OAC but we all honestly care about who covers the spread more than Wins and Losses once we look past our school of choice!

We won last night 42-6 and had 421 yards of total offense (357 on the ground).  It feels great to get the monkey off our back and now we can focus on getting varsity win number two.

The veer was working last night!

RC:  Congrats on the win!

Pick-Em contestants:  Thanks for the kudo's, but it won't get you any extra points.

Really wishing Musky would have kicked a FG instead of scoring the TD in OT.  Would have looked good on the 4.5 point spread and shot down 77% of the pickers.  Arrrgh!

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.
