RE JCU

Can you say the program is being de-emphasized with the brand new stadium?

I wonder what effect nearby NDC's new (soon to be DII, I believe) program has had on their recruiting.

The problem with JCU is not facilities related, its the administrators and the Athletic Director (assume this position is not HC-football, not sure). There exists failure to recognize that the are losing the D3 talent because they do not have a strategy to overcome their lack of success in football over the past 4+ years. JCU needs a new HC and staff and will need to revaluate what kind of program they want the University to support. When you drop from a consistent 2nd-3rd place OAC team to a 4th-5th and now 6th-8th major changes need to occur, IMHO!  :-[

If JCU loses potential players to Notre Dame College as mentioned could be a D-2 with no football history, then their problems transcend coaching and philosophy changes. JCU is historically regarded as a fine university compared to a Notre Dame College.

Shula Field is nice soccer venue  ;D

Call me sexist-but you could ask Laurie Massa-director of Athletics and Recreation ;)

BTW ADL70-CWRU has to have one of the finest football venues, period

OK, this barely qualifies as related, but I found this on YouTube today and it chronicles the 1996 Ohio Division 6 Football Championship game and how a gutsy bunch of small town kids including a future Gagliardi Trophy winner on two blown knees came back from a 35-3 deficit to win a championship in 3 OT's. I grew up in the area between JCU and Notre Dame College.   John Carroll was all-male and Notre Dame was all-female.  JCU guys dated Notre Dame women.  My brother had a beautiful tutor from Notre Dame, but that's another story.
Yeah, I'm a geezer. (I don't feel that old, which is some solace.)
To me the idea of Notre Dame College having football would be like Vassar having football (they don't), but Mary Hardin-Baylor isn't doing too badly and they were all-female in their past.
I can't believe John Carroll doesn't try to put a decent football team on the field.  They could be the best in the OAC, if they tried.

I've seen that and it's well worth the 10 minutes to watch it!  I still remember going to that game with my buddy.  We sat around the 30 on the scoreboard end on the Mogy/visitor side.  We almost left at halftime, but opted to stay for the start of the 2nd half.  Best decision ever because an hour later we were high fiving strangers in the bleachers watching the greatest game I've ever seen in person.  And since we were from Lake the Mogy faithful loved us because we were their "neighbors".

p.s. Chuck was obviously awesome, but Dennis Robbins was a fantastic QB.  I doubt anyone has ever seen 2 better QB's square off in D6 than he and Uhlenhake that day.  479 yards passing for Uhlenhake, 442 for Robbins in the biggest game of their career.

Can't comment on these two young men but St. Henry had a pretty darn good kid a couple years earlier in Bobby Hoying.  I remember my dad coming back from a playoff drubbing of his alma mater in which he exclaimed Hoying as the best HS QB he ever saw play live.  I believe it was 1990 when Hoying took St. Henry to the D-VI title.

NDC may make it harder for JCU to come back, but didn't JCU fall apart before NDC started football?   IMHO, the problem starts with the administration and isn't helped by a less than average coach.

Honestly, it's kind of sad to see where the JCU and BW programs have fallen to.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Hey...hey.....B-W is the new "hot" flaming pile of the moment.   ;D  I can see magazine covers in their future.

The new website must still have a few kinks to work out, not sure why it would be difficult to post a score!

The new website will do what the AD wants done. Were JV scores kept on the old MUC site?  I wouldn't look for things like a list of recruits and game details of JV games if the boss don't want them. ;) But if you really want to know, I'm sure you could work something out with the Sports Information Office. (Or LK if you want to donate money for another set of uni's or two)

Time to once again say how much I like the new website and look forward to seeing it build through All the sports. It just needs some more Purple  ::)

But I've still gone to Ric's for stuff in the past two weeks. Gonna really miss the "Tales of the Tape" matchups come playoff time

Yah.......I think the only place the JV scores were ever posted was on Ric's site, at least that is where I always found them.

Someone has to know the score......anyone......hello???????   ;)

Agree, I miss Rics' site and like you will miss it in the playoffs. Hope he keeps it as is, since it has so much historical Mount information! :)

In the Seaman interview, they were discussing the "long bus ride" for the JCU game.  Am I missing something?  Isn't JCU one of the shorter OAC trips for Mount Union?

If you click the archive button, you'll find the vast majority of the data from Ric's site. It needs formatted better but it's there. We long timers just had the layout of MtUnionFootball.com down and knew exactly where to go to find something. The old computer teacher has some ideas and may need to volunteer some time at the Sid's office to make that stuff user-friendly ;)

I think Neil was referring to the two large charter coaches in the background and the long ride home from Wisconsin.
