i agree with skunksidekick, the difference will be cecil shorts.  he was the difference against wesley last year after the qb went out and he had a great game against uwww in the stagg.  he is one of the best players i have seen play and a class act in the games i have seen him play.  wish i was making the trip as it should be a good game, but had to choose and the shorter drive next week won out.  good luck mount, enjoy what should be a good game.

wesleydad,

Maybe we will see you in the playoffs, sorry you could not make it!  :)

At least this year we aren't leading Division III in penalties and penalty yards. Seem to have that under control so far, but of course expect both teams to better their season to date penalties if it's close

Hello Gang!

Thank goodness I am typing, because I hardly have any voice left.  Jr. and teammates were up 20-0 early in the third, and the coach decided they had "enough", and started subbing liberally.  It's freshman football, so I get it at some point, but I thought it was early.  Anyway, Boardman scores twice late, and Hoover has to cover an onside kick, and then run out the clock.

Jr. was a beast in the first half, but only ran the ball three times in the second half.  80+ yards, one touchdown.  Had his usual 8-10 tackles.  Hoover freshman now 6-0.

Back to your college football programming........I wonder what Vince has dialed up for ONU?  I have to think that there will be pressure for him to stunt/scheme with some new looks.  I feel our defense needs that kind of boost at this point.

Another key to the game, the kicking of Tyler Almeida. We have a kickoff and long FG threat we didn't have till later in the season last year. But hopefully, by the time I leave to get to Youth Football, he'll be kicking FG's on First Down to keep the score down.

Just looking at numbers, not that impressed with the ONU passing game

I almost asked if anybody had been to brunch at Hoover-Price yet this year. Opps, first home game

Perhaps if ONU's passing offense was higher than 121st in the national, I could do some oohs and aahs

This impresses me Charles Dieuseul

The thing with their passing game is that it doesn't have to be off the charts. It balances out the their league leading rushing attack. Simmons is efficient. That's all he needs to be.

Simmons spreads it around, is a capable runner, limits mistakes and rarely takes a sack.  If he can do all that Saturday, ONU has a chance to upset Mount in Alliance.

I just hope the red zone defenses continue their trends.  ONU has only given up 2 red zone TD's and 3 overall red zone scores while Mount is last in the league in red zone defense giving up TD's on all five opponent trips to their red zone.

The bottom line is this should be a dogfight.  I think ONU is as poised as they've ever been to take one from the Raiders.  We have the number one pass defense versus the number one pass offense and the number one rush offense going up against the number two rush defense.  These teams match up on paper so well I just hope it pans out as a game to remember.

Dude we get it.  You've had your whiskey and your Viagra and you're looking for trouble .....

ONU would be good for 80 more yards a game too if they started OAC play against JCU and Wilma.  OTT was supposed to be for real and MUSKY is certainly better than those two programs.  It's not about who puts up the most yards.  These teams are as evenly matched as ever and it should be a great game Saturday.

I'm with RC here (chit, did I just say that????)....  I'm believing this will be a wonderful game.  I like the experience Simmons has at QB and how aggressive Coach Paul will be with that athletic defense.  Still, UMU is UMU (or something like that) and you have to play REALLY REALLY well to beat Mount Union at the Stadium.

As for the Viagra and whiskey.... lets just say those probably don't mix well together, but I think hscoach would be able to tell us?
