That and my CA-based company is wanting to expand operations a bit in Ohio.... now that the Republicans have taken back over.

Yeah, since they have a history of being so business-friendly here. ::)  Kasich will be worse than Taft.

But, alas, your comment and mine probably belong in the Politics forum, although that has been hijacked by a few wingnuts.

universities/colleges.  Interesting.  I'm sure some of their recruting takes away from B-W and other schools in the area.  Their coaching staff has several coaches from Mercyhurst and B-W backgrounds, including their head coach McNellie.

At both schools, Lake Erie and Notre Dame, there are good BW people.  the HC at ND is our former Defensive Coordinator, he has former players on his staff as well, and same with lake erie with Jerry Hazzard and Ian Formaz....interestingly enough they are all from our playoff team in 03 who i know personally and i know they are good football people, so they will be good programs at some point if not already now.

That being said, if i was a HS student, and I had the opportunity to attend Lake Erie College or Notre Dame who has 3 years football experience or BW or JCU with over 100 years experience and tradition, Id pick either BW or JCU, but thats just me!

That's funny.  I work in that industry and just left the Buckeye state for work.  I'll be catching my UMU games with the help of AM1310 and the internet for the forseeable future.

HSCoach.......I see you working!   ;)

As we grow older, and as we realize that as much as we love D-III football it's not our life, we start to soften our stances on many things.  We try to see other points of view, no matter how inferior they may be.  We are harder on our team than we would have been even five years ago.  Sucess spoils us...we have seen so many amazing teams.

I have come to a conclusion tonight........until I see a team (other than UWW) beat Mount, I am not buying ANYONE ever being ahead of them in any rankings, regional blah blah blah....and what anyone else wants to throw in the equation.

We have come to love (tolerate?) our Eastern brothers because they are...

1.  Usually fairly intelligent posters
2.  Have come to accept the Mount dynasty (for the most part)
3.  Seem for the most part to be pretty good guys

At the end of the day, to BE the man, you must BEAT the man...and no matter how much analysis you apply.......that's the only equation.

Ok......thank you....drive through.   ;D

Yeah, I make one post over there mentioning how their rhetoric turns off anyone who may be willing to listen to what they have to say and now I get dinged a -k once per day.

Politics?  You are talking politics?  I mean come on......it's just POLITICS!

So can B-W pull off some of its voodoo magic on Mount, holding them much below Mount's scoring average, and put up enough points on the offensive side to make it a game?

For many years there, no matter how bad B-W played everyone else, they always seemed to be able to challenge Mount, or at least make it a much lower scoring game then usual.  Hey...will this be Mount's first time in Finnie without the concrete?  NICE!

Can BW pull a 2005 ONU and beat Mount and lose to JCU the very next week? :D

By the way, whoever was wishing for a JCU basketball win over Akron didn't get their wish.  I checked the website to see the score and all it says for the result is "L".  I wonder if it was that bad!

EDIT: Whoa, it was that bad.

FOLB:

I agree with you as I tend (tend?, heck, I am that same way) to be partial to the historical traditions in the storied football programs at our DIII schools just like you.  So I would pick one of those also.  However, that being said, as several of our colleagues here have also said in the discussion, if it comes down to a situation for a recruit and his family with regards to the financial aspects of being able to go to one school over the other or not (as it unfortunately, is so often the case i.e is prominent in these current economic times), the decision is made for them (assuming, of course, that the recruit has the talent to play at the DII level, which would be assumed or those type of schools would not be recruiting or pursuing them).

I am looking forward to being there, and watch a good game. Not sure the Raiders will beat HScoach's spread of +24.5 pts, but it should be a hard hitting game. The Raider supportors will be large and loud! :)

jam40jeff:

Oh well re: the JCU/Akron basketball game.  Some of us had a good discussion over on the HCAC football and basketball boards yesterday and the day before on the same topic i.e. DIII schools playing DI in basketball exhibitions both in past years and also that Franklin played Indiana this week.  Still, a good experience and memory for the DIII players IMO.

BTW Mount lost to Akron 77-47 in 2004. Played against some of LeBron's old St V's teammates

The Akron website also lists Milliken as a regular season game. Strangely Millikin doesn't list them???

As for tomorrow, barring the weather making things rough, I see Larry turning things up a notch and having a tune up game. He's seen what he has to work with under game conditions and now the fine tuning begins. Let's see what works with all the true first teamers at their "earned" spots and if all works well, let 'em rest next week.

As for Coach's spot, only that close in terrible weather conditions (remember the weather for THE ONU game?, That's what I'm talking about)

For those that have ventured to the East page and saw the firestorm that the "hiding Micheli's arm theory" has caused, I'm tempted to post The Little Big Man's theory on why BW has played Mount so tough.  It's even better.   ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
