Final MT Union 31 Del VAL 3. The Aggies were best team weve faced. Safe trip home, friends.

ONU needs to find some offense quickly.  Jumped out 3-0 early, but trail 21-3 late in the 3rd.  NCC finally cracked 200 total yards in this defensive battle.  ONU sitting on 148 right now.  Come on Bears!

OhNo

NCC defense dominated in what sounded like a choppy game... congrats to the Cards, and ONU on a great season and all the Northern seniors on great careers... gonna be some big shoes to fill at the skill positions next year...

reality check

28-9 is the final in Napierville.

I didn't have much of a chance to follow the game.  *Thanks In-Laws*

The NCC bottled ONU up for most of the day but I had hope when ONU opened up the first quarter lead and it sat at 3-0 for a long time.  Those two quick scores to end the first half really seemed to doom ONU.

A great season and the end to some great careers.  Congrats to all the seniors who had a part in this playoff run.  Disappointed it's over but glad the Polar Bears found their way back into the playoffs.

This Mount game gave new meaning to the expression, "Was over before I got to my seat" I watched the first touchdown through the fence and that was all it took.

Del Val had some good defense, read a bunch of little porkers who got up under our larger O-liners. DV talked more than your average youth football team. Gotta wonder if #1 for DV was a Mount player and got flagged for mouthing off to the ref, if he would have seen the field again. Will be a long week for the Mount coach who got flagged for protesting the cheap shot way out of bounds on Shorts.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Very nice win for the Raiders today.  The defense was very, very good and beat the crap out of QB Hatty, who played showed well today.  That kid was a tough SOB.  Mount O-line played great against a very aggressive Aggie defense.  Best game of the season for Mount.  Even with the couple fumbles.

Although ONU is a very good team as is Trine, Coach Paul and his MU colleague Coach Land now both need a way to somehow get their teams past the first round playoff win.  Just can't quite get there yet.  But as you say, a great season - it was for both those teams.

QuoteThe DelVal broadcaster sounds like Don Knotts ... too bad I'm having trouble getting WRMU

I've been compared to a lot of things before but never Don Knotts.

"Tripper!!!"
I always thought you were more Merrill Reese influenced.

Now that one I've heard before. :)

Del Val gave it all they had against a great defense.  Normally they would've run Cook a lot more but he's been battling leg injuries for weeks.  IMHO Shorts is the best offensive player to play against the Aggies in a long time.  They just had no answer for his speed. Budzinzki is an awesome defensive player.  With a name like, Lambert Budzinzki, he was born to play football.

Congrats to Coach Paul and ONU on a fine year! You represented the OAC very well! :)

Gordon:  Was good BSing with you again.    Hope you had a good trip.

Was extremely glad to be watching that game from the pressbox.  The wind and temps were brutal.

Checking in from Linfieldville I just noticed that MUC is now UMU. I'm guessing the change is very recent is it not?

MTU is still MTU. Although we changed to a University, our NCAA moniker is still the same. (And never, never, every, say UMU) Gonna ask Pat to make UMU a curse word
OK, show of hands..... if you regulars want I'll change forum names? Now, in my defense @ an away game I was corrected multiple times-told to use UMU- realize that I was sitting directly in front of college prez and some college "dignitaries", so cut me a lil slack......
oh and sorry bout the high school game , I'd say that massey was about spot on the MUC game? and really today's game  was a butt kicking, and I don't think that was best team we've seen, I will say that QB might have been, and that the kid was tough, and the Del staff had them pretty well prepared. Their defense was just blitz happy, "HOPING" to get lucky-
2 other items, mt union better quit  the fumblitis AND how many 4rt and shorts are they gonna just run smack up the middle?UGH

Results for Round 2 of the Playoff Pickem's have been posted.  Spreads for Round 3 to be posted either late tonight or tomorrow as I'm off to Fawcett for Marlington/Buchtel.

The Bucks and Raiders took care of business today.  Hopefully the Dukes can make it 3 for 3.
