Bethel probably would like us to recognize their DB Vavra who an impressive 49 tackles, 6 picks, a blocked kick and 1 return for a TD in just 9 games.

What, no sacks (in nine games)  ;) ;) and only 1.5 yards a return. Never  ;)

While I think Mount as a team will win by more than 2 TD's on Saturday, I'm very curious to see the Mount offense against the Bethel defense.  The last three weeks have been part good defense by the opponent and part inconsistent offense by Mount.  But I expect Bethel to be a very good test for this young Raider offense.  Especially Neal Seaman and Jeremy Murray.  If Bethel can hold Wheaton to 10 points, then they're good defensively.

Offensively, I really question how Bethel will be able to muster much against Mount unless we give them a short field via turnovers.  But then again, that's what I thought in 1999 when Augie held the ball for 42+ minutes.........  I expect ZB to call a pretty conservative game to limit the potential for turnovers and give Bethel the breaks they need to get an early lead.

I'm guessing a score like Mount 28 / Bethel 6.  Or maybe Mount 35 / Bethel 12
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Happy Birthday, brother of my brother. Thanks for many great laughs, your kindness to this football know-nothing, your affirmation of unsung talent. I better stop now before it becomes a belated birthday greeting.

Glad I can occasionally crack up someone beyond the immediate family. Here's hoping your around to put up with it all another year.

Some little birdie just told me that it is seventiesraider's birthday today!  Hope you have a good one--did you save any of the pain pills from your surgery??

Gonna celebrate by watching the Raider's women basketball game tonight in A-town

70's, it's still your birthday on west coast, so Happy Birthday & +k!  ;D

+k for the analysis, hscoach.
And if half pick your first score while other half pick your second score, you get your 50/50 split.  ;)

Wow did Ohio College Football miss the boat not naming Mount Union sophomore Db Nick Driskill  All- D3.  He was the best DB in Division 3 this year.  OCF didn't even put him on the second team!  He should have been named the best DB in the OAC, but those awards rarely go to sophs, so I can somewhat understand.  But there is no excuse for OCF  Name me another DB who had as good a year?

How many other top DBs have you seen this year?

At the risk of being considered nasty, Driskill has three returns for touchdowns, Bethel has three total

The kid is a talent

Obviously the guy has talent. I'm just curious who else purple has seen in order to qualify his statement that Driskill is the best DB in D3 football. Reality Check laid out a pretty good argument that he is on par with the other top players at that position in the OAC.

Driskill (MTU): 55 tackles, 3 sacks, 11 TFL, 1 forced fumble, 3 fumble recoveries, 5 INT for 112 yards and 2 TD

Jones (OTT): 55 tackles, 4 sacks, 13 TFL, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 INT for 117 yards and 1 TD

Michell (ONU): 49 tackles, 0 sacks, .5 TFL, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 6 INT for 113 yards and 1 TD

Coward (ONU): 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 5 TFL, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 6 INT for 54 yards and 0 TD

I'm not saying Driskill isn't worthy or a stud in his own right but I am saying that the OAC has plenty of talent at DB.  Jones and Driskill have very similar numbers.  Michell and Coward are very different because of the way they were used in the defensive schemes.  All 4 are very good and I would characterize all of their years as "very good".

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

But I'm sure we're both younger than the Runyr.

A sincere thanks to you all. Scheduling problems and a back sprain may keep me away on Saturday, but I'm still shooting for Friday nite, on my "way home" from Columbus.

Never fear, I'll be on the road after Kevin gets out of school next Friday, back brace and all
