I was just thinking how greatful we've been as far as replacing All-American, record-setting talent, with a someone who is arguebly become even better. I'm sure lots of fans/coaching staffs were relieved when Garcon graduated. But that relief was VERY Short(s :D ) lived... as Shorts emerged who went on to break some of Garcon's records.

The exact same thing can be said with UWW as Coppage replaced Beaver.

So with that being said....

Which fans/coaching staff will be releived the most....

UMU and the WIAC, on when Justin Beaver and Level Coppage graduate

or

UWW and the OAC, on when Pierre Garcon and Cecil Shorts graduate

Thought about making it into a poll, but I thought it can be a good discussion to start the off season.

02 Warhawk,

Good post +k! with Coppage returning for a final year, the WIAC and the MTU will be glad he is done. The rest of the of the OAC will be glad that Garcon/Shorts time is over. Watch out for Jasper Collins, he had a great sophomore year, with big things coming over the next 2 years! :)

It is hard to say which would be relieved the most, so I see it as about equal.

Opponents of NCC had the same experience when great linebacker Lenny Radtke graduated, only to be replaced by even greater linebacker Matt Wenger.

We nervously await the replacement of now-graduated Matt Wenger. :P

yes, another good example...but the four listed above were not only first team all-americans, but they were the best at the their positions...nationally. Three out of the four were named DIII Offensive Player of the Year.

Wenger, also was first-team all-american and player of the year...but I don't think Radtke reached that level, but still damn good.

And then there was the joy when Gagiardi Trophy winner Chuck Moore was replaced by Gagliardi Trophy winner Dan Pugh

Yeah, I noticed that right after I posted (but decided not to edit it and see if anyone would notice!) ;)  In my response to your similar post on the WIAC board I toned it down to 'a similar experience'.

The only "graduation" that is going to make the OAC jump for joy is when Larry Kehres graduates to retirement.

Which could be very soon if someone, and you know who you are, doesn't get their head out of their butt >:(
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

No doubt all the Raider fans are pulling for Delaware and K.C. Keeler! ???

KC is listed as a top candidate for the UCONN job ::)

Interesting.  I realize that would be the step-up (or in our DIII world, the "step-down" ;D) to DI for KC.  However, do you think he would leave his alma mater, which, from what I understand, he really loves, was a star player there and has had good success, to go on to UConn?  Perhaps he would be like Tressell's situation.  On the other hand, there is something to be said for those who stay and continue making a program a very good or great one like Raymond did at Delaware.  Then again, not everyone wants to "stay for their career at one placed", the $ and "times" situations have changed from that era, and each coach has their own vision/life goals/dreams.  It will be interesting to see what happens, yet I would say he needs to win tonight's national chmapionship to solidify that change even.

Okay, seventies, Raider, Warhawk, and the rest of you:

Who are you "rooting" for (and/or think will win) in tonight's FCS National Championship game - Delware (and former DIII coach KC or vastly improved Eastern Washington?  Game tiime: 7 PM on ESPN2 (hooray!  I get that channel - glad it's not on ESPN3 ;D)

I'm "rooting" for our old nemesis KC and Delaware.  After all, a Blue Hen is very close to a Purple Chicken. :D
