Do you guys think the Delaware loss last night will now have an effect on KC's chances of getting the UConn job as has been reported he is a candidate for?

Very small blurb in the Akron paper today that Joe Tait had double bypass and valve surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and is doing OK. Expects to return to broadcasting.

formerd3db,

I think getting to the championhship carries alot of influence. If you win that is icing on the cake, but having your team there says volumes for the program! :)

Great to hear Joe's on the mend. Sure missed him this season. Thanks, Seventies!

A tall, buff  birdie tells me Raider fball strength and speed trials to be held immediately upon return to school next week, after all that post-Stagg holiday food and sloth...er...sleep.

Your loss. You were three days behind.  8-)

PS Pat: It's basketball season and I come in through D3Hoops more often. Still reading your content.

Colts lose a heart-breaker, 17-16, on a FG with no time remaining.  But certainly can't blame it on PG! :)  He had half their receiving yards (112 of 225), including their only TD of the game, a 57-yarder.

I think Pierre must be getting old and slow, though - I thought he'd have 10 yards separation on the defender by the time he hit the goal line, but the guy pushed him down as he scored! ;D

Small but Slow

Chris Collinsworth proved the reason he is the best, perhaps only useful, color analyst tonight, identifying the Colts use of new formations featuring PG tonight.  Once again he drew double coverage most of the time from a CB with safety help over top.  Manning and Christensen recognize his ability to stretch the field and will continue to develop their system when more of their slot receivers are healthy next year.  PG is a big time game breaker who can open up his side of the formation.  He attracts attention from defenses that opens up other receivers then when they single cover him Manning can hit him for the big play.  He belongs in the league and will have a long and successful NFL career.

Good post! +k,

Agree, so many 3rd and 1's and cannot convert for the Colts. According to the Indy Star, Reggie Wayne was furious he did not get more balls his way, but he was covered all night like a blanket by an all-pro. Pierre had a good game, and he will be a factor and improve in the years to come.

His accomplishments will continue to help those highly skilled D3 players to catch on at the next level. Next up Cecil Shorts! :)

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

^ and Kyle Miller

HScoach,

I knew there were NFL scouts at a few Raider games to watch Kyle Miller.

Has there been any updates on him? :)

Yes, it WAS a cardiac event, got me all stirred up and couldn't go to sleep. Decided then to stay awake for Jim Carrey's SNL portrayal of Hugh Hefner, but dozed off and missed it. (That's why God made youtube.)

Have to say, the Jets (as a team) deserved to win the game, though.  If Colts win, it's a couple big plays, largely Manning and Pierre connecting and the great field goals; and  a Jets loss, w/b due to Sanchez's wildness .  Jets' win was a TEAM win, it seemed to me. Jets' defense was so dominant.  Huge too.  Colts' largely reserves D needs more experience, to my untrained eye....

...and a quick Google search seems to indicate not much worthy of Youtube viewing from last night's SNL with Jim Carrey. Before you go hunting on the strength of my compelling endorsement.  ;)

BTW, Happy New Year and 11 in 11, Raider fans!

Hard to watch the Colts lose, but without 2 1st string receivers, starting running back and starting corner, they were lucky to be there

Heard on the Stagg Bowl broadcast (D3football.com) that Miller is being looked at as a long-snapper, not as a TE. Is that what you hear? Long-snappers usually don't get drafted, but are signed as a free agent after the draft.

I don't know per se if he will get a look at a tight end -- he may well do so, or as a receiver -- but from all I've heard, long snapper is his best route to the pros.
