Can any of you Ohioans recommend a good place to grab dinner in "downtown Columbus"?  Heading there next week for a work trip.

Thx!

TGP,

1. Engine House Number #5  (dinner) (German Village)

2. Schmidt's  German Rest. (Lunch or Dinner) in German Village
   (near downtown)

3. Numerous Restaurants in North end (Morse Rd, Rt. 161)

4. Worthington Inn

5. Other restaurants on East side (Easton Towne Center)
    Great shopping and eating places.

TGP,

All the places are good, just depends what part of Columbus you are staying and how long you will be there!  Engine House #5 is  a seafood place.  :)

I would recommend heading to Easton Town Center......it's a nice outside mall (upscale) with a variety of places to eat.  You can go "high end" with steakhouses, or an Irish Pub.  And, you can walk off the dinner afterwards by walking around the mall area.......located on the east side of C-bus, near the airport and Gahanna.

Thx Senator -

It's a quick trip but I will have one night to check out a spot for dinner.  Staying at the Hyatt on N High Street.

There is a really good Ethiopian restaurant called the Blue Nile that is a bit north of there at 2361 N. High Street--excellent food-quirky atmosphere.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Whenever I go to a big city I try to hit a real authentic Italian eatery like Sbarro.  Try that maybe.

Quite witty.  I thought I was back on the Liberty League boards there for a second!

Cafe DaVinci in Upper Arlington.  Just went there a week or two ago.  It is great food not very expensive and casual.

Hyde Park Steakhouse is 3-4 blocks north of the Hyatt on the NW coner of N. High and Goodale.

The North Market is a couple of blocks west of High on Vine St. for casual and quick. Bluescreek Farms will sell you a dynomite Standing Rib Roast if you pack your Ronko pocket oven.

If you don't have a per diem and can just expense it, I'd go to Hyde Park.

If not, the Short North area has numerous good places right on N. High St. a few blocks north of your hotel:

Martini and Marcella's are both Italian places.  Both are Cameron Mitchell restaurants so the food is very good.  Marcella's is better IMO.

Betty's is "comfort food", but very good.  The open faced turkey sandwich is money.

The Surly Girl is the same owners as Betty's, so similar menu and also good.

Fabian's has Chicago style deep dish pizza if you feel like eating enough for a family.

Spots like Rigsby's, Press Grill, Haiku, etc. are all solid too.  In the Short North you can literally walk in just about anywhere and get a decent meal.  Plus it's a nice area to just walk around and bar hop a little bit.
