reality check

To follow up on KD's hieght post:

Mount only has 8 plays that weigh in at 160 or less and of the 8 only one actually has a number assigned.  A couple are kickers so they don't count do they?

I would think Mount was built more on guys that had the height/weight and a couple extra tenths of a second on their forties or all the intangibles along with a surgically repaired knee or other limb.

I think the OAC in general is built on that model more than the runts.  Maybe the average OAC line is 6'2" or 6'3" as opposed to 6'5" but there's still plenty of size floating around the OAC.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

This coming week could be a "big" week for some of the D3 standouts in the NFL draft. Good luck to all of them! :)

Had our Regional Track Meet this week to qualify for State.  My High Jumper went 6'4" and ended up placing 5th.  One kid went 6'6" and three more went 6'4", but my jumper had more scratches.  Top Four go to state so he misses out.

Today I check the results from the other three regions and my kid ended up jumping higher than 8 other State Qualifiers from other regions.  In Region 2, three kids went 6'2" for places 1-3 and one went 6'0" for fourth.  In the Region 4 the winner jumped 6'0", second was 5'10" and places 3-4 jumped 5'8".

Going to be hard to explain to my high jumper how he had a chance to place 8th in the state based on Regional Results, but doesn't get to go.  Especially since his Regional Final Jump would have WON two of the other Regions.

Wish they would take the Regional Champions, and then the next best 12 jumpers to state instead of top 4 jumpers from each Region...

I agree with you, that would be a much more fair arrangement.  Moreover, it still would assure that the kid's who had the top finishes (regardless of what region they're from) have the opportunity to see who is the best.

I hope some of you saw Samy Guerrero running the football in the Ohio Senior Bowl, leading rusher for the North team

Track is one of the few things the NCAA does better by establishing benchmark times, heights and distances based on previous years and taking the athletes who have the best performances during their season instead of one day. They know at the beginning of the season what the provisional qualifying numbers are. Weather was always my big grip in Ohio. We could have freezing rain in NE Ohio while the kids in Cinncy had 80 degrees and sunshine on the same district meet day.

I had at least three top five relay teams that blew handoffs at districts and stayed home.

BTW High Jump and Pole Vault are all about passing until the last height you know you can always clear and keeping your total attempt number down.

My kid had a PR of 6-4 at conference.  Then won districts with a 6-2.  He also was running the 100, 200 & 4x100 but only qualified for Regionals in the HJ.  Was going in at 5-8 all year.  Had him go in at 5-10 and he missed first jump.  Then had sort of a bad day for him, missing at least once at each height up to 6-4.  He had to make 6-4 on his last jump to stay in it, so I was proud of him for competing.  Just disappointed after seeing the other regional results.

He almost made 6-6 on his second attempt.  Would have been awesome.  But he only jumped 5-10 as a 10th grader so he improved 6" in one year.

Did not see the game, but great for Sam. I thought he was an OL, but it must have been a treat to run the ball! :)

Just scanned through the notice of allegations to OSU about the football program...

Any truth to the rumor that if the former OAC QB from the 1970's doesn't survive with his job that another former OAC QB from the 70's might replace him?
