My information didn't come from the usual "sources".   8-)

It was from an employee/professor (not sure what he does at Mount), and as I said previously, I didn't ask any questions or hear anything more.

His quote was something like......."that new transfer we got is another Garcon/Shorts type receiver".

We need on-campus verification.........OH RUDY???????????   :)

I have heard nothing.

15th wideout taken.

Pierre was the 28th WR taken in the 2008 draft.

Congrats to Cecil.  May he make the most of this incredible opportunity.

Highest drafted D3 player ever according to Cecil's agent

Could he and Kyle Miller end up as teammates again?  Might have to start broadcasting some AFC South games in NE Ohio

A Big Congrats to Cecil Shorts on being drafted in the 4th Round! :) A fine tribute to D3 football players and the OAC.

Now if they pick up Kyle Miller I'll have a new fav NFL team. I'm sure Kyle would be happy with a phone call tomorrow

Congratulations to Cecil -- it's a well-deserved reward for a great player and great guy, by all accounts.

I can now say I had the pleasure of calling touchdown catches by both Pierre Garcon and Cecil Shorts for Mount Union (see the :30 mark of this clip for the Semifinal between Bethel and Mount Union -- http://www.ncaa.com/video/football/2010-12-13/diii-semifinal-bethel-vs-mt-union-121110)... The clip is a great example of Cecil's speed, strength and hands.

Say what you want about the Mount Union program being "bad" for Division III because of the dynasty that won't fade away (whether or not you agree with that sentiment, you must agree that it's not Mount Union's "fault," at the lack of a better term since the team always plays by the rules and earns their success each year).  Larry Kehres and his staff have done an incredible job in helping keep Division III on the map with players like Pierre and Cecil and with the success the team continues to enjoy.  Congratulations to everyone involved -- be proud today and pray that the lockout ends soon so Cecil can show the Nation his stuff come September!

Frank -I was in the Mount press box the other day and you name is still on the booth door. We're expecting you back.  ;D

Garcon's success certainly helped Shorts out today. But let's not take anything away from what Cecil accomplished on his own.

If you sort the combine numbers for WR by the best results, Shorts is in the top 10 (if not 5) for almost every category except broad jump. He then took his very respectable  4.5 40 time and crushed it at a miserable-condition Pro Day.

Any time pro scouts are looking at a small school prospect with crazy film and stats they are going to be dubious because of the competition factor. No one's combine/pro day numbers and measurables matter more than for a non-FBS player.

Shorts took crazy stats and film and backed it up. He got drafted this high in part because he came out of a Mt. Union system that scouts and GM's are maybe trusting a little more after Garcon. All that did was put him on the radar screen. His own ability and measurables made sure he stayed there and got drafted.

Now its up to him to show that all that athleticism and small college success will translate into the NFL. I've got a sneaking suspicion he makes the most out of this opportunity.

"Yeah, I'm from a Division III school, but in between these lines, it doesn't matter where you're from. You can either play ball or you can't."

Well said CSIII

Now for the real gut wrenching time for DIII prospects. Will I get an invite or not?
